10 Hanover Square, Financial District, Manhattan, New York, New York, United States Walking through the western Financial District, 10 Hanover Square is just another International style building you wouldn't give any notice to. Its architecture is simple, flat glass faces, white columns to divide them, and a Soupman in the ground floor (woohoo!). But what you wouldn't know is that in 2005 a massive renovation was finished. Up until then, the corporate giant Goldman Sachs ran the building as office space, and the building was even more bland than it is now! Then it was converted into a residential condominium with: 17 floor renovations, lobby renovations, new elevators, and a new power supply, not to mention the roof garden and canopy (included in the residential version, very pretty!), proving to be one of Lower Manhattan's most contrasting buildings. But with a simple shape, it fits in nicely with almost any SimCity. If you need a generic building, or maybe your city needs another Starbucks, here's your answer. -Comes with Residential and Commercial versions- 1327 CO$$ Job Capacity 1830 R$$ Capacity Grows on 3x3 high density lots Also includes ploppable landmarks with the same properties as the growables. As usual, no dependencies! Just unzip it in your plugins folder and you're good to go! There are two files inside, one for the growable versions and one for the ploppables. If you don't like ploppables, you can delete those. If you don't like growables, you can delete those. Or don't delete any at all. Your choice. 99, 109, and 110 Madison Street, Two Bridges, Manhattan, New York, New York, United States Welcome to Two Bridges, the little-known Lower East Side neighborhood that no one bothered to come up with an original name for. The name derives from its position between the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges, with Chinatown to the north and the East River to the southeast. Its history is not a mellow one; before WWII, Irish, Italian, Jewish and Greek gangs vied for supremacy of the area. The end of the war and the construction of public housing sent Latin American immigration through the roof, and the former gangs faded away. In current times, a large number of Chinese immigrants have entered the area to find cheap housing, although the September 11th attacks made some residents less relaxed. Most of the residents today ask tourists to simply visit, but not for long. Try some traditional food, see the local sights, look out at the harbor, and leave. I guess some people just can't be bothered. The only downside of the neighborhood? Richard Fortus, Guns N' Roses guitarist and area resident calls Two Bridges "the only neighborhood left in Manhattan that doesn’t have a Starbucks". And he's right. 109, 112 and 129 Mott Street, Little Italy, Manhattan, New York, New York, United States Welcome to Little Italy, the district of Manhattan where apartments are painted green, white and red (in that order), there isn't actually any mafia, and people really seem to like pizza, pasta, cannoli and fish- but who doesn't? Every September, a million people, give or take a few, come to Little Italy to celebrate the Feast of San Gennaro. That's close the to population of Detroit or San Jose(!) and I wonder how they get enough tables. But it's not all partying and really good food, even though that's my favorite part. Little Italy faced the same crises as Chinatown following the attacks of 9/11, and it's facing an identity crisis. Little Italy has a population of 100,000 people, yet only 11,000 are of mainly Italian descent, as the neighborhood has been engulfed by Chinatown. In fact, as of early 2010, the two were listed as one historic neighborhood. No worries though, if you can sell a good calzone or pizza for profit, everyone will find a way to keep you in business. 77 Water Street, Financial District, Manhattan, New York, New York, United States Situated strategically in the financial and insurance districts of Lower Manhattan, 77 Water Street is only minutes from NYSE, and several headquarters of major American businesses. At only 26 stories, it was a short building relative to the skyscrapers around it. Homorously, the owners built a fake runway and WWI biplane on the roof, just to amuse the workers in surrounding buildings, namely the World Trade Center which was under consruction also in 1970. I suggest this building if you need/want a happier tone in your city, or you just like it. It's up to you. 1298 CO$$ Jobs Grows on a 3x2 medium or high density commercial lot Also comes as a ploppable landmark with the same properties as the growable. No dependencies! Just unzip it in your plugins folder and you're good to go! There are two files inside: Growable and Ploppable. You can delete the Growable file if you don't want it to grow in your city, or delete the Ploppable if you don't want it in your menu. Don't delete both, it wouldn't have a purpose anymore. Love it?
