It covers an area of 630 square miles (1,600 km2) with an average depth of 12 to 14 feet (3.7 to 4.3 m). Some shipping channels are kept deeper through dredging. It is roughly oval in shape, about 40 miles (64 km) from west to east and 24 miles (39 km) from south to north. In descending order of area, the lake is located in parts of six Louisiana parishes: St. Tammany, Orleans, Jefferson, St. John the Baptist, St. Charles, and Tangipahoa. The water boundaries were defined in 1979. The lake is crossed by the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway, the longest continuous bridge over water in the world.

@kschmidt - i've never heard about Mayon region before. i googled it and i have found some amazing pics. It would be an interesting place to visit. 90% of european cities have irregular street networks because of the medieval ages in wich most of them started developing. My home town was built on an ancient roman city - Tomis. But the region - Dobrogea was ravaged by the barbarian invasions and after that the many wars between russians and turks. The last turkish-russian war in the Balkans literally erased the small fisherman town of Kostence (nowadays Constanta). So the turkish sultan Abdul Medgid gave huge plots of land to british, american, french and italian companies to rebuild the cities and build rail lines. this happened at the end of the 1800s. the majority of the workers were foreigners: british, americans, italians, greeks, bulgarians, turks, arabians, etc. an of course most of them ended up settling here. So the city lay out is more north american, and same with all the cities in my region. In many ways my region's development resembled what happened in the USA. People from all over the world coming and settling here. Even the street names were in english. After the region was given to Romania, they changed the street names to romanian ones, mostly. And then romanian colonists came and settled down along wth the other inhabitans. And beacuse of this histroy of living together despite race or religion we never had any conflcits on those issues. Here's one of Fords' showrooms in my city in 1928. And here's a pic from the old port district @whiteshark365 - because of the water. most settlements tend to be developed near water. i'm not that good on starting the build on a piece of land without the ocean/lake/sea/river @raynev1 @philforhockey51 - thanks for the sugestions , i'll take 'em in consideration #################################################################################################################################let's get back to Bayou with some more pics

  4. Oakdale Beach

Here is Oakdale Beach, a recent seaside resort in the Nauville County, extremely busy, all year long...well...not in winter ) The buildings are very dense in Oakdale Beach. Baker Park, right in the center of Oakdale Beach. Here is the Wilson Tower, (named as its architect). It is the highest tower in Oakdale Beach, and of all north Genesia, with its 418 yards high. People can see it all around the agglomeration. Down this tower there is a large commercial center, and the flats are essentially for tourists. At the top of this tower, people can see 80 miles far away. The I4 goes along the coastline in Oakdale Beach. On the top you can see the Wilson train station, the end of the regional train line, which goes to the east. The Whitman Boat is one of the most famous restaurant of Genesia, people come from de all Simland (and even farrer) to eat the meals of the Three stars Chief Webber, who's a jury in "Masterchef Simland" for four years. This is a former ferry-boat of the bayou, which was redeveloped into a restaurant in 1988. The end, thanks for watching, have no hesitation about letting a little comment (sorry for my appauling english, I'm a frenchie

Oakdale is a town in Genesia, a state of Simland ( http://www.simland.eu ), a micro-nation based on citybuilders. Simland hosts, for example, Zeroing City (by Uzil). Oakdale is located in the Hanovrian delta, also called "the bayou". The islands in the "bayou" have various uses. Here is a former prison, now converted into a museum. Some other islands are wealthy families's large estates. The urban area is interspersed with protected areas in the bayou. This nature reserve is very large, and many protected places can be found across the agglomeration. There are hundreds of islands in the hanovrian delta. A CBD can be found on one of the islands. As many genesian towns, mansions are the majority in Oakdale. Oakdale could soon be named the capital of Genesia, here is 'the federated center', that includes the headquarter of all the institutions of the state of Genesia. In the middle : the headquarters of the offices of the state. Here is the presidental palace, with its gardens. Here is the parliament of Genesia. There are two highways in Oakdale : the interstate 8 goes to north Simland, and the interstate 2 comes from the mountains of western Simland to go to the Pacific ocean, to the east. Oakdale is heavily wooded city. Oakdale is located on a wide sandbank. The dalean seaport is very small. The nature reserve is everywhere, and jud, et legal battles often took place between the conservative municipalities and presidencies establishing nature reserves to appease some bulky ecologists. The most recent quarters are also the less dense. Here is the biggest hospital of Oakdale. It is the biggest of the whole genesia. The nature reserve is really everywhere. Okay, yeah, it is true, i have no idea of what to say here This picture was taken in southern Oakdale. Some branches of Hanovria are cut by old dikes, but the river is secured by passing the number of branches of the river. Between the highway and the seaport, there is a commercial area. Here a part of the coastline of the Great Salt Lake (of Simland). The interstate 8 This is the end of this preview. I'm finished Can't wait to know what you thought of that (sorry for my approximative english, i'm french )
