  1. Sorry to hear that but quite frankly, every large city I've made over the years(around 12) has been lost with the "Simulation: (failed) " message and a weird purple load with no buildings or features. Others have never lost a save, so I don't really know what the issue is. It's generally believed that it is either corrupted assets or mods that cause this, but even when that issue is cleared-up, the loads will still not load. I believe it is the saves themselves that become corrupted, especially if they are stored on the Steam Cloud. All I can say is do like I do and just start a new one over again with the realization that cities only last a few months, so enjoy them while you can.

Thought I'd show my latest. haven't posted here in a while. This city is very much a work-in-progress and is in the +300,000 range. I want it to be a European-type city so I've put the kibosh on the high-rises(except for tall apartment complexes).
  3. Show us your Area view

I used a crappy Vienna map for it and did a lot of research on Central European cities such as the aforementioned, Budapest, Prague, Bratislava, etc. And I used quite a few of those Paris buildings as I really like them. So you are right, the city is a kind of a hybrid between French and Central European cities. Problem with that city is that I hit the prop limit and NEED much more props in order to do what I want to do with it. So I'm leaving that city in suspension for the time being.
  4. The extra roads for Network Extensions 2 at least for me was the main culprit.

I have that theme, I'll give it a try thanks! Need those run-down roads ..lol

Those dirty roads are amazing! Are those props/decals you put on them or are they a separate Workshop asset? I tried putting decals on my roads to get that effect and hit the game's damned prop limit.
  7. I've been experimenting with adding props to roads( 2 lane and 4 lane) in the Asset Editor. Adding decals to the x64 limit. I've gone through all the efforts to save them, give them names, place them under "Temperate". When I load up the city I can locate the roads I created. Problem is, when I try to put them on the map, what shows up are the base models, none of my graphic modifications in the form of added props show up! I must be doing something wrong here or maybe this just isn't possible. Any ideas?
  8. Here's the situation. I'm trying to add traffic stains to my roads(as can be seen in the pics). The only way I know how to do this is by superimposing props, problem is that I hit the prop limit, no more! That is unacceptable. I'm wondering if there is some way to colorize, in other words stain the given game roads and use them as upgrades on existing roads without using props. After all, all we talking about is changing the existing color pixelization on the asset with no additional program elements. Is there some way of doing this? And I hope outside of using the Asset Editor which always crashes for some reason.

I've used up about 85% of segments and nodes, vehicles are maxed-out, plenty of buildings can still be put in though; and after adding agricultural landscaping yesterday, the tree limit is about to be hit. That's a problem as I'd like to cover the 81 tiles with agriculture but have to leave about half the map treeless due to the hardwired limits. All the other metrics on the city are generally OK, except for low demand for industrial products as a result of me putting in way too much industry(for decorative purposes ), continual train traffic jams and a big revenue deficit. But it's functional and all the sectors register +90% happiness. My previous city(seen below), "Greater Newkirk" an American-type city maxed-out on segments, nodes and a few others. It is slightly under 700,000 in pop. I can't build anything without removing previous efforts and I don't know what to do about that. I wish the game had a larger agent capacity. And these cities run fine on 81 tiles without frame-rate issues. I think the next one I'm going to do on 25 tiles as I can cover most of that without leaving bare areas. BTW, the Steam map I used for below was Burgas, Bulgaria.

I'll put it up on Steam when I feel it is ready which should be in a month or so.. The Steam base map is garbage, I had to heavily modify it. Keep in mind that my mods and assets inventory will be needed in order for it to fully load up.

    You mean mine?
  12. Love the junk pile there. I need to put more rubbish in my city.
  13. Working on this oil refinery, just north of my city of Castenbourg where I just posted pics in the "Show us your Area view" thread:
