  1. myminicity.com

http://quesberg.myminicity.com/ How many of you have been to this site before? I think it's a neat little idea..... Please help Quesberg to thrive and grow!
  2. Shanghai World Financial Center

Wow, just......wow. This is unbelievable.....I have been waiting a while for someone to create this building for the Sim City world and to see it released so perfectly is amazing......10/10!!
  3. HKABT Cheung Kong Centre in Hong Kong

Wow.......this is just......awesome. You guys have done a fantastic job on recreating buildings from Hong Kong.....keep up the great work!
  4. New WTC Complex Tower Designs Unveiled

I like the design of the new towers and agree with the idea that calling it the 'Freedom Tower' is pointless. I strongly supported rebuilding a twin tower complex (either the original designs or a twin of the 'Freedom Tower') but having a 386 meter, 78 floor building as the second tallest in the complex will look quite nice......I really like shape of it. I also agree with some of you about the base of the Freedom Tower......redesigning it because of 'car-bomb' concerns is pathetic.
  5. The Capital of the World!

New York City.......beats everything else by far.
  6. Freetown:My CJ(Fixed)

    I vote for C.
  7. New York City

It could use a little more diversity among the buildings.
  8. World Trade Center

I agree with everything FreewayofFlight and Louisville327 have said. I'm Canadian, I love American cities, but I'm sick of hearing your pointless babble about 'freedom'. Freedom this, freedom that, your patriotic nonsense has blown way out of hand. To say that the terrorists strike because they don't want you to be free is a load of crap. If they were concerned with freedom, they'd be running around your streets taking hostages or turning you into slaves. So it's alright for you to go and blow up foreign countries for no good reason (they pissed us off! Time to teach them a lesson!), but when someone comes along to do the same to you, and you scream at them for attacking/hating your 'freedom'? Please.......applying that to all forms of attack, would you not be doing the same to those who are bombed by you? This new building will certainly stand as a monument, but not for 'freedom.' How can it? Are you more 'free' than the rest of the world to build such a tower? America's freedom is hardly different from Canada's. Stop acting like you're the only country that builds its society on freedom. It's a right that all of humanity is entitled to. Stop viewing things in terms of America, and start thinking in terms of the whole world. Why not build something that stands for all of humanity? There can be no greater accomplishment than that. You want America to better itself? There's how you do it. 'It symbolizes America's freedom, economic prosperity, and resiliency to let others know that we will not be afraid or let terrorism change our way of life.' --what have a lot of you people mentioned? Oh yeah, I remember, building taller buildings is just like placing targets on every person or all over that building. Well, your way of life before was reaching for new heights in terms of building construction, and now, wouldn't you say that higher buildings in the U.S. are somewhat limited since 9/11? The original design for the Freedom Tower was changed because of terrorism concern! Everytime I discuss the designs for taller building proposals, one of the first things I hear are 'that'll be one hell of a terrorist target'.....get over it. How often to terrorist bombings of skyscrapers occur? Why hasn't the Sears Tower been smashed yet? The actual building design itself is fine, except for, as some of you have mentioned, that pointless concrete slab at the bottom of the tower. Giving New York another twin tower skyline would have been nice too, and rebuilding the original design is also a damn fine idea.
  9. New Worlds TALLEST tower Proposed!!

Date: 12/8/2005 10:58:18 PM Author: hamsterTK where are you guys getting this crazy idea from? The reason why we dont have idiotically high towers like this being planned for the US sans the freedom tower is because there isnt a demand for one. Geez, who the heck would want to live or work on the higher floors of those anyways. It would suck being so high that you have to change elevators multiple times or be colder in the winter because of the height, or deal with the sway thats bound to happen on the upper floors. Id rather have a nice neighboorhood then one nice tower anyways. Well, why would they build such higher buildings in a suburb of New Delhi? Why plan them for anywhere? It's all about showing the world that you are able to build something bigger and better; taking building architecture and engineering to the next level. If they were truly concerned about losing space to elevators and whatnot, they'd just build four smaller towers or something. Another thing is, without skyscrapers, cities would be a hell of a lot more spread out, and that means, more cars, spaced used for roads and freeways, pollution, longer commute, and a lot less free land in the world. More trees would be cut down, farmlands dug up, etc. The population isn't getting any smaller, and we need to give these new people homes. We also need to limit how much a city can spread out--hey, why not build taller buildings to house more people on the same amount of land taken up by four single-family homes? The fact of the matter is, building sustainable cities--safe, secure, and clean, requires skyscrapers. If you are building higher buildings, one idea could be to connect them up on the 100th floor or so with a footbridge, like what the Petronas Towers have (except lower). And let's face it.......city skylines are pretty damn impressive to look at--especially when every building is lit up at night.
  10. New Worlds TALLEST tower Proposed!!

That's one nasty building design.....I hope they don't build it, because as people have mentioned, it will look dreadfully out of place with its surroundings.....and again, it's so............ugly. I think the U.S. needs to lighten up on new building height concerns (the result of 9/11)......it could inevitably lead to flat topped skylines, which will look horrible. New York needs to take charge one again. By the way, did I mention that the proposed New Delhi building design is ugly?
  11. The worst building in the world

How can ANYONE possibly like the original design for NYC's Freedom Tower??? It's the UGLIEST BUILDING DESIGN I HAVE EVER SEEN. The new design is so much better........I'd prefer it if they re-built the twins, but I'll take this new version anyday over the piece of crap they originally wanted to build. Seriously, it's height-cheating more than anything else. The actual roof was around 350 metres high (something in the 300's), with 250 metres or so of nothing but useless glass and a bigass spire built at strange angles. It doesn't take any skill to design and build a big open glass space topped off with a big spire, and that's the cheapest way to grab the 'world's tallest skyscraper' title......New York has been the world's leader in skyscraper construction for so long, and now, they're losing out to every other country. It kills me to see them design such hideous buildings for its future skyline.....a fact that I'm going to change in the next 30 years! This cannot continue.....I call out all future architects to help New York take back it's reputation for having the world's tallest buildings.
  12. Proudest City Name??

As far as Sim City names go, my favourite would have to be my own creation, Quesberg (pronounced 'keys-burg'). Other than that, no city name beats New York City, as that name stands for the finest of everything you can find in the world (finance, business, shopping, art, architecture, etc.)
  13. Official BAT Request Thread

I have a few ideas for new BATS, and I really don't feel like saving and posting pics, so here are the links: DUBAI: These buildings are all currently under construction: The 420 meter, 107 floor, Princess Tower: http://www.skyscraperpage.com/cities/?buildingID=34473 The 380 meter, 90 floor, 23 Marina Tower: http://www.skyscraperpage.com/cities/?buildingID=36289 The 333 meter, 72 floor, Abbco Rotana Hotel: http://www.skyscraperpage.com/cities/?buildingID=27579 SHANGHAI: Currently under construction: The 491 meter, 101 floor, Shanghai World Financial Center: http://www.skyscraperpage.com/cities/?buildingID=7609 LONDON: A decent proposal: The 307 meter, 63 floor, Bishopsgate Tower: http://www.skyscraperpage.com/cities/?buildingID=28290 That's it for now.....
  14. Official BAT Request Thread

I love the new design for the Freedom Tower.....although they should have made the design taller (115 floors or so), and a twin tower would be nice. Makes it seem as though New York is afraid of building anything taller these days. Worst of all, Dubai is taking over New York as the Skyscraper Capital of the world Back to the main subject of this thread.....yes, someone should definitely make a BAT for this building! Also, please check out my proposal for the Skyworld (located on page 48 ). I think it would look great in a skyline!
  15. Official BAT Request Thread

Equinox: Yeah, I'm willing to share the Bryce model....I'm not sure if it's importable to 3DS or Gmax though.....
