Yeah, that all sounds complicated. I was thinking more plug and play where let's say we keep it simple and have two players. the region has 3 tiles: A B C Player 1 = Tile A Player 2 = Tile C Commissioner = Tile B Both players have the same plugins and map, but can only play on their tile.. At the end of the week, both players email their city tile from the regions folder to the commissioner, and the commissioner emails the other city files back, with the commissioner connecting any roads, etc. through Farmville. Is this possible?

300k in a large tile. Also, profitable, max education, and no smog cheats. I think the residency numbers in the game are a little skewed though. -
The Development of Leicester County - Update No. 2 - Power Infrastructure

I like this whole project a lot. I saw something when I was looking at the pictures, that I thought you should know. Remember, you can do whatever you want to. I'm guessing that north is up, so keep in mind that the sun would rise first for people who live on the right side of this picture. I like to keep that in mind when placing buildings, especially libraries and schools and any building with a lot of glass. I hate it when the game grows a building with a big solid brick wall facing the waterfront. Anyways, I was a big fan of the DeWitt project, and I'm sure this will be cool too. Good luck.- 32 Replies

Los Angeles?

Ok, so a while ago I dropped the CAM and all of its buddies into the plugins folder, and everything was cool for a while, but then I noticed that the Saiwan and Wanchai Towers, etc. started sprouting everywhere, so I removed them, (they're part of bixel's Hong Kong pack) and then got brown boxes growing in their place. So I re-searched my plugins folder and found that under one of the CAM folders theres a readme that says that the Saiwan and Wanchai Towers were a part of the CAM level 9 option or something. So, I thought about pulling the CAM out all day, but then I clicked on the industrial CAMs list, and I noticed that like Replobe or whatever globe factory was a stage 6 CAM industrial, so, my question is, I want the CAM idea (expanding stages of the game), but I don't want the CAM to dictate popping up particular buildings, do I just remove all of the CAM pieces, or what do I do here? I don't think the CAM is a set of lots but maybe I'm mistaken. Any help would be appreciated. (by the way, I leveled and dezoned about twenty wanchai towers in Klatskanee, and I lost 80k sims overnight! Good luck with your economic depression sims!)

I removed everything (the CAM and its buddies are a large lot) and the game is much better now. Something to keep in mind if anybody else wants to remove the CAM is you will have to rezone all of your industrial lots, because similar to when you add and remove the TWRECKS industrial mod, the roads will show overlap. It causes a very severe recession in your city (not directly because of the plugin removal, but because of the way you have to replace the numbers and the time it takes to grow things) and the bigger the city, the more daunting the task. I had a large tile with a population of 280k and then I removed the CAM. I demolished all of the brown boxes and re-yellow zoned all the industrial zones. I lost 120k residents overnight and that number continued to spiral downwards as I waited for the industrial jobs to come back. It was quite intense. Anyways, thanks to everyone for help with questions I had. I greatly appreciate it.

Hi, I've posted on this before but this time I brought pictures. I am building some diagonal bridges both roads and one ways. What keeps happening is rather than going straight across the river, the bridges run downhill to the other side, and then you have to squish the landscape to come back up the hill. I watched the youtube video a thousand times. I don't think its supposed to do this. I have a slope mod installed, the 'don't create bumps when you make a bridge' mod. I am playing Sim City 4 Rush Hour on Windows XP. The video says you just drag straight across, then click a starter piece on the bridge and BLAMMO, you have a diagonal bridge. My bridge starter pieces say they can't be plopped there, and refuse to be plopped. They will plop on the inland areas just fine, creating a diagonal flat piece of road. The elevations are slightly lower than 1 'raise all the land up' click high. Am I doing something wrong?

Diagonal Bridge Still Goes Downhill!!!
citycowboy replied to citycowboy's topic in SC4 Bugs & Technical Issues
I worked on this for several hours, and then even making a separate tile donut/volcano, but nothing worked. I made a crisp cliff on both sides, and still, no results. Every time, the bridge "swoops" across. Do you have any examples of successful diagonal bridges you've made? Maybe I can get it to work if I copy something, and then go from there. -
Humans are a complex mass of protons and electrons, etc. who use electrical signals to control different parts of their bodies to interact with one another. The brain sends an electric signal to the carbon based throat, which speaks by means of fluttering vibrations to communicate. Robots are a complex mass of protons and electrons, etc. who use electrical signals to control different parts of their bodies to interact with one another. The brain sends an electric signal to the carbon based throat, which speaks by means of fluttering vibrations to communicate. (speakers) If we take into account emotions, and say that humanoids who lack emotions have lesser value than those that do, than we would have to dismiss the narcissists and other persons with mental illness that impairs emotion, or roughly 5% of the existing human population. Just like a robot, a narcissist is someone who is going to typically be full of information read off wikipedia, and like a corporation be only interested in personal and tangible profit gain for the sake of being programmed that profit is good. We are going more and more to the way of the cyborg, and everybody knows that. So where is the line going to be? Could we say that a factory in Flint, MI that manufactures robots creates robots? Could we say that a nursery in Bethlehem, PA that manufactures clones creates people? What if we took the Planned Parenthood babies and stuck their little brains inside of robot skulls and wired them up so they could grow as a robot with a human brain? Could we cut open the back of our skulls and remove hardware, put it in a drawer, and forget memories? Then place that brain chunk into a computer and produce an image on the screen of that persons thoughts? I think the actual technology is much further along than people admit, and the more and more we delve into quantum physics and other sciences, the more I can see a direct relation between robots and people in the future. Another thing to ponder is, since western society is about what people 'do', will robots be seen as better than certain stereotypes or races of people in the future? Will this bring down the stereotypes and create all the humans equally inferior tot he robot. The robot doesn't need a break every four hours to smoke a cigarette. The robot isn't subject to 10 hour off USDOT codes. Hell, they make a thing called meld that you put on your stove and it cooks your food for you, perfectly every time. We don't need line cooks anymore, thats ancient stuff, just like the horse and buggy. I know as the US approaches the $15/hour minimum wage, many of the big corporations that employ entry level workforce employees are developing robotic assembly lines for restaurant service. We are not very far away from every Burger King, McDonald's, Wendy's, Subway, Jack in the Box, etc. employee being unemployed. Millions more people are gonig to be unemployed. I grew up in a culture where you worked cradle to grave, and that was kewl. You never talk back to your boss, and you produce the same product and great customer service the same way, every day, year in and year out. The longer you can do it, the more valuable you were in the eyes of the employer. People who were flighty or produced inconsistent work typically had a spotty employment history. This attraction not only applies to the workplace, but women are also keen on men who can hold down a job, and I've seen thousands of relationships that end because the guy gets canned, or quits, or layed off or whatever. In the western world the robot is the Supreme Race. Person 578-09-9872 who resides at 1234 N. 32nd Street and works at ABC Company versus Robot 418-02-7518 who resides at 1238 N. 32nd Street and works at ABC Company. Both can tell you who won the game last night.

What happens if I copy paste a region? Like from the desktop region folder, copy a region, paste it, now I have two regions, then rename them 'cool region old' and 'cool region new' Will that make for two identical regions in-game, so I can experiment without losing the old data?

that sounds mighty racist!!!

If you click on it, you can't click off it. When you click 'bye now' it stays forever. You can change what it reads in the box though. The only thing you can do once you click on it is hit ctrl/alt/del and restart sim city 4, which takes about an hour to do!

Sometimes we just have summers like this. When I was a kid, growing up north of Spokane, I made a fort one day. The next day it had burned away. So that winter we moved across the river. I made a fort there. Two weeks later somebody excavated a nice lot to build their new house. Now I play Sim City.

So I went all out today, and got gmax, plugin manager, sc4 bat, lot editor and datpacker all ready to go on the 'ancient' sc4 computer. (I don't use this computer for work or personal use) (I think it should work fine, since SC4 came out in 2003). I've decided to copy my plugins folder onto my desktop, since I don't know how to use the datpacker just yet. It says I have about 7 hours remaining for that. So I go back into plugins, create a new folder, and shove everything that doesn't have a Z on it into it, then open up datpacker, highlight the new folder, and press compress or ok or whatever, right? Then I just start the game?

no, I haven't yet, but I'm starting to think there's a couple of plugin overlap problems that are starting to develop because I'm seeing some paris and maxis buildings pop up where they shouldn't be, for example, when i spread some of the ALN mmps i'm getting a maxis building and there's a type of 1x3 house that grows but it has a paris corner building on it, its weird. I'm trying to rework a lot of stuff right now.

looks awesome man, but how do you get the timber frame houses to work? half of mine always are missing the house.
