  1. I'm using NAM version 32. When selecting the ERHW-6S ramp puzzle peice, the preview for the ERHW-4 shows up. Plopping it shows up as an ERHW-4 ramp. Is there a newer version of NAM that I could download that resolves this bug?
  2. This is the terrain map that I made by combining 2 elevation maps downloaded from the USGS website. The map is centered on Brooklyn, NY. It doesn't look right, showing areas close to sea level as being below sea level, so I don't know if this is the correct map to use for rendering a SC4 region. I'm using the tutorial How To Make Scale Accurate Realistic Regions from USGS Data. After opening the map in Microdem, I'm unable to proceed, because I'm using a different version of the program than the version used in the tutorial. The version I'm using is 2016.4.28.199. The tutorial shows a menu option that I don't have.
  3. I'm unable to run SC4 in hardware mode. When I launch SC4, I receive these error messages: Hardware Error Could not initialize DirectDraw. SimCity4 Could not initialize the hardware driver. Using the software driver instead. I'm using Ubuntu 15.10 together with Wine 1.9.1. Installing DirectX 9, 10 and 11 libraries, didn't fix the problem.
  4. Update: I successfully configured SC4 to work in hardware mode. Using winetricks, I selected 'Select the default wine prefix.' In then 2nd menu I selected 'Change Settings.' Then I set DirectDraw to OpenGL. However I'm still unable to get my preferred resolution. Anyone have any ideas for how to fix this problem? The security driver was not removed. I found SECDRV.SYS in the Apps directory. I reinstalled the game using a duplicate CD, copied from the original disk.
  5. Fortunately, I was able to locate a working exe from backup. Now I'm unable to use a custom resolution. Whenever I set the resolution to 1680x1050x32, the game always changes it to 1280x1024x32. Why is this happening? This is the command line I use: env WINEPREFIX="/home/obalaban/.wine" /opt/wine-staging/bin/wine "C:/Program Files (x86)/Maxis/SimCity 4/Apps/SimCity 4.exe" -intro:off -CustomResoution:enabled 1680x1050x32 -CPUCount:1 -BackgroundLoader:on -gp &>~/Documents/SC4.log
  6. Thank y'all for the suggestions. I've Tried : Uninstalled and reinstalled SC4 and wine. Purged and reinstalled all Windows libraries. Installed additional DLL's from this list on wine's AppDB: https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=20075&iTestingId=85599. Here is the terminal output I'm getting when SC4 fails to start: fixme:winediag:start_process Wine Staging 1.9.10 is a testing version containing experimental patches. fixme:winediag:start_process Please mention your exact version when filing bug reports on winehq.org. fixme:service:scmdatabase_autostart_services Auto-start service L"SecDrv" failed to start: 2 fixme:module:load_dll Loader redirect from L"uxtheme.dll" to L"uxtheme-gtk.dll" fixme:uxthemegtk:load_gtk3_libs Wine cannot find the libgtk-3.so.0 library. What is auto-start service L SecDrv? I'm thinking that the original SimCity 4.exe is corrupt, because I never had this problem when starting the game using the no cd fix exe. I searched for a no cd fix, but I couldn't find one. Does anyone know where I could find it?
  7. I'm already using the latest version of wine. I don't think getting SC4 to work should be dependent on upgrading to Ubuntu 16.04 LTS. I tried removing the DirectX 9 and 10 libraries and installing all the other DirectX libraries listed. I tried using switching d:directX with d:Hardware. Didn't fix the problem. Should I try using DirectX 9 instead?
  8. I ported my SimCity 4 Windows installation to Ubuntu 14.04, and use PlayOnLinux to launch the game, thereby providing SimCity4 the Windows libraries it needs in order to run. Of the 4 cities I tested, 3 of them work, and one of them crashes to desktop immediately upon entering the city. This city has a population of 80K. The other 3 have populations of > 5300. If there is anyone out there in the Simtropolis community who has experience with running SimCity 4 on GNU Linux who could help me troubleshoot this problem?
  9. It's been 7 months since I last visited this thread. I switched to Lubuntu 15.10 with Wine 1.9.1. Now this city is playable once again. Thank you all for your help.
  10. Reader doesn't work in WINE, so I used Virtual Box to launch Windows xp in order to run the program. After deleting both properties from an exemplar in the .SC4Lot file, and reindexing the file, upon opening the city, SimCity 4 crashes to desktop after 4 seconds. I'm going to see if the same city will work properly in Windows, in order to rule out the possibility that the file is corrupted. I've posted the exception report in case anyone can make sense of it.
  11. Actually I did not copy and paste your script verbatim. Instead I customized it to work with my configuration, and executed it, but it malfunctioned, so I studied it and reworked it. Now it works! Unfortunately this city with 80,000 population continues persistently crashing to desktop. Now I have narrowed down the problem. This is the only city with the Shanghai Science & Technology Museum lot. This lot is missing a dependency needed to display the ground texture. In Windows XP, this isn't a problem, as the missing ground texture is replaced with black or the default background image. In Ubuntu however, it causes a CTD. Is there a method for getting a list of dependencies for a lot, so I could download the dependencies needed to complete this lot?
  12. I copied the whole SimCity 4 directory structure to Wine. Then I tried running SimCity 4 using 64 bit and 32 bit Wine prefixes. Whenever I enter this city, it played for 5 seconds before crashing to desktop.
  13. This bash script doesn't work for me. When I ran it, all my options were ignored, the display was set to low resolution and magnified, part of the screen was missing, and the cursor's position was misaligned with what the cursor was pointing to. I had to switch to console terminal to kill SimCity 4, upon returning to the desktop the resolution failed to return to normal, forcing to logout and login in order to reset it.
  14. Zona Portuaria

Excellent port design. Incredibly detailed and realistic.
  15. Cemesto District

A very charming community.   Is the glowflower genetically engineered?
  16. MGB - Diagonal Filler Set

    The zip folder is empty.
  17. Amazing visual effects! Where did you get those power lines? I could really use them to add realism to my cities. Then I could use the Maxis power lines as transmission power lines for traversing long distances, and these as power distribution lines for short distances.
  18. Ped Mall Center Pole Remover Mod

I started working on a version of the concrete ped mall sans the light pole, now it looks like I don't have to. Thanks.
  19. When I launch the program I see the small intro screen, the one with the suspension bridge. The program closes abruptly thereafter. I'm running a system consisting of an AMD Athlon 64 X2 dual core CPU 5200+ 2.61 GHz, 2 GB of RAM, Nvidia Geforce GTX 750 graphics card with 1 GB of RAM and Windows XP SP3.
  20. SimCity 4 Not Working!

Now the game is working in hardware rendering mode. Why it was temporarily malfunctioning in hardware rendering mode is beyond my understanding.
  21. SimCity 4 Not Working!

Target Command Line: C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe /c START "high priority sc4" /high "C:\Program Files\Maxis\SimCity 4\Apps\SimCity 4.exe" -intro:off -CustomResolution:enabled -r1680x1050x32 Actually I live in the US. When the game is running at 1680x1050x50Hz, the screen becomes larger then my display, only a portion of it being visible, forcing me to have to scroll in order to see the rest of it. I tried running the game using software rendering, and it was successful, but I don't like using software rendering, because it causes too much aliasing.
  22. SimCity 4 Not Working!

Nevermind, I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program, and it is currently operational. Now I'm having problems with the resolution and refresh rate. I am not able to run the program at a 1680x1050 resolution and 75 Hz refresh rate. The program is ignoring my custom resolution settings, changing the resolution to 1280x720 and the refresh rate at 50 Hz. Previously I was able to successfully run the game using these display settings. Why is SimCity suddenly disobeying me?
  23. When playing a city, I'm finding lines of steps throughout the water. Despite turning on all antialiasing features my graphics card, I'm continuing to have this problem. My system consists of an AMD Athlon X2 dual core 5200+ CPU, 2 GB of RAM, Nvidia Geforce GTX 750 graphics with 1 GB of RAM, and Windows XP. Here is a screenshot:
