  1. Hey everyone! Just to let you know that I am still alive. Whilst I have made no progress on this in over a year, just dropping in to say hey, and nice to see people still making custom buildings for New York and other cities. Also, loading up SC4 recently, for some reason I have a region called New York, which is more developed than another region I have called New York City, despite the city tiles being laid out identically. Who knows why that is?
  2. I haven't forgotten about this either, but right now I have no time and no real desire to continue NYC. Chris, can we see your London work so far? And as for your degree, what are you studying?
  3. I've not forgotten about this, but I'm still on hold with it, and likely will be for a long time. Chris, have you any updates or news to share with us though?
  4. We still need so many BATs! If I knew how to make them myself then I would, but even major buildings are missing. I'd love some more NYC stuff (AMNH, NYC Library, Art Museum, Lincoln Centre etc).
  5. Sorry I haven't done this for a bit. I'm actually going to take a break from it for another 2 or 3 weeks or so. Partly because I'm stuck and need to think on what to do next, but also because (and probably because of the former reason) I ave no real desire right now to work on this. I imagine that in 3 weeks or so, I'll want to carry this on, hopefully. In the meantime, if someone could send me an accurate and useful set of maps for Manhattan's subways, that'd be great. I think I'll build those next, though I'm still unsure how to build the stations. Maxis ones can be unrealistic and also not all real life stations are above ground or visible.
  6. Soon the road map will be too big for one screenshot, but this is everything I have so far. Again, I need a suggestion of what to build next, because I'm running low on ideas. Oh, and if you see any errors, or things that could be improved, tell me now.
  7. Also, I'm running out of ideas as to which areas I should build next. I'm nearing the stage where I'm going to have to start building Highways, or curved roads, or diagonal roads. Unless I build the Subways (which are invisible for the most part sadly), I could build Broadway. South of 14th looks really tricky, apart from what I've done already, and East of 1st and West of 11th both look tricky, Central Park will be mostly a nightmare, and I can't go much further North due to a lot of curved and diagonal roads meaning very few reference points for building. So, any ideas? Or should I just try Broadway and/or the Subways?
  8. There are a load of good looking NYC apartment blocks, but I'm not sure if they are growable or ploppable. By the way, what is the actual reason (besides the game being retarded) for the inability to place residential buildings like you can with commercial and industrial?
  9. For anyone wondering, this is not the kind of thing that can be finished quickly, if at all. Once we get Manhattan done, are we finished? Or do we move onto Jersey City, Staten Island, Queens, The Bronx and Brooklyn? Where do you draw the line as to when we are "finished"? Besides, just finishing Manhattan will take a very long time, let alone anything else (and if anything, Manhattan is the easiest bit due to the grid like street pattern).
  10. New York City Recreation with cmdp here:

  11. One Penn Plaza I have downloaded as a BAT, but not placed yet. Broadway I haven't yet started to build. It will be very difficult to get it right, so I'm waiting until later to build it. Kind of like an ostrich really.
  12. Pictures! It is done. It could be better, but I think this is about as good as I can get it right now.
  13. Hmm. Took me awhile to get right, for some reason your method didn't work. Somehow it works now though.
  14. I used 45 degree OWR pieces, What do you mean by draggable smooth curves?
  15. Chris, I fixed the Avenue C, but still haven't fixed my loop problem with the OWR. I can't see a solution and I tried everything you suggested.
  16. I'm pretty sure I tried all that. It was hard to get it right, and it's perfect (I measured it, the "peak" of the curve is at ( 7,8 ) from the start at Avenue A, like it should be, so it's basically a perfect parabola almost. Which is handy.
  17. Not sure if this should go here or in the new thread, Anyway, anyone know how to fix this problem? The loop curve (which in my opinion looks amazing), should go from left to right, but if you look in these pictures, it doesn't. An overview: And a closer look at the problem:
  18. Update. Worked on 14th and South, and built 6th and 7th Avenues north of Central Park.
  19. Thank you. Next step will be the Lower East Side, and then the streets North of 125th will need a bit of work.
  20. If you see any errors or mistakes, just let me know. I've spotted a very minor one just now. Irving Place, a road from 20th to 14th is missing (it runs liike Lexington Avenue). I'll do that tomorrow, it's really easy. I also need a resized MSG BAT lot. It needs to be slightly larger (notice the blank tiles around it).
  21. So today I did all the streets from 57th to 14th! Here's some pictures:
  22. I'll try and get the 57th to 14th Streets done tomorrow, if not then, then Wednesday. I'll be very happy once that's done.
  23. Real Life City Recreation Tutorial

Who would be the person to ask to go about getting the AMNH from NYC into SC4? It is a huge and very complex BAT, but I imagine it could be used in a lot of cities, not just NYC, if it was made as a functioning Museum.
  24. Okay I'll likely be playing tomorrow, Tuesday or if not then then Wednesday, since I won't be playing today. My next big step will be building from 57th to 14th Street, once that is done I'll likely try and do the East Side (East of 1st Avenue), from 14th to the end (about 90th I think). That will mean I can add in the UN Headquarters, and will look good when finished hopefully (the entire East of Central Park will be done hopefully). After that, probably fix up more of Upper Manhattan past 125th Street and maybe add in the rest of those roads, (some Broadway could be added here perhaps). So yeah, still a huge amount to do, but at least I (sort of) know what I'm doing now. Chris, I think I'll need certain measurements though, for example where to build certain Avenues and how wide they are, eg York Avenue (East of 1st) I can see being a potential problem, and those Avenues north of Central Park (I think they align with 6th and 7th perfectly, but I can't be sure). I'll ask you further when I can. Oh and I noticed something about "Additional Lighting Mod" when using the NAM Installer. I didn't feel comfortable so I left it (it was late last night as well). Is it necessary and/or important? What exactly does it do?
