You don't need a top of the line laptop to play SC4, you will want to however get a laptop that has dedicated graphics memory. You will also want to invest in a decent cooling pad. Laptops are very good at overheating. And keeping the system cool will help prevent the computer from crashing.

You may need more memory, because zooming in , it has to draw more stuff. When you game crashs, it creates a crash report in the Exception Reports folder in the SimCity 4 User folder that is usually in the My Documents folder. that should give you a little bit of insight into your problem. Try setting your graphical settings to medium if you are running on high. Also you may need to update your Video Card Drivers.

Have you been editing the config.bmp file you may have put a color with more than 1 255 Color Components. Check your config.bmp file. The config.bmp file controls the layout of your regions city tiles. Now before you do that I want you to back up your entire region.

The region view is made up of a bunch of thumbnails of your cities, its like if you change the water texture , that change will not show up in the region view until you go in to each of your cities and load and then save and exit to Region. that is what you will probably have to do.

Plus I have 12 GB of Virtual Memory, and I am able to play other games like Dawn of Discovery (Anno 1404) on the highest possible graphical settings with no problem. I also play Galactic Civilizations 2 without issue. My SC4 would not use that much memory because right now the game is installed fresh without any plugins or mods ,. I discovered what the problem was. I remembered I had SimCity 4 installed on the Windows XP Partition so I compared the file sizes of that installation and the Windows 7 SC4Deluxe Installation and I noticed that Simcity_2.dat and SimCity_3.dat file sizes did not match. So I copied dats 2 and 3 from the XP Installation over to 7. And now the game works fine. The strange thing is that I used the same ISO files that I made from my SimCity 4 Deluxe CDs using Daemon Tools to install on my laptop and the game works fine. The XP installation was installed using the SC4 Base pack, and Rush Hour EP. I have since misplaced the Rush Hour EP so that is why I bought the Deluxe Edition. I still have the issue of getting a bunch of weird graphical issues when I am scrolling. That issue seems to have been fixed by using Software Rendering.

Thank You I will try that sometime. I try installing just the base pack and that worked fine except for some weird graphical issues when I scroll. I will try to find my Rush Hour CD. I have been trying to install the Deluxe edition but with that one I get the same thing everytime. I guess for now if I want to play SimCity 4 I will have to play on my Vista Laptop.

I have Windows 7 64bit Edition , The installation seems to have gone okay, but when I try to start the game will load and I will arrive at the region screen. I have a laptop with Windows Vista and for the most part SimCity 4 runs fine. I have a Sony Vaio AR670 with a Core 2 Duo Processor and 2 GB of RAM. The more stuff you have in the plugins folder, the more time it has to load, the only way to get things to load faster , you would need a faster hard drive and a faster CPU with a larger cache. Also the game will run better and will be less likely to crash if the system is cooled properly. If it is a laptop , you should get a decent Cooling pad.

I get that too, except I use the Asphalt one. I have a theory about why this might be happening those new interchanges were made from pieces of some of the interchanges that came with the original game. The partial Y uses pieces from the T interchange.

If only they had put that much effort toward making Expansion packs for SC4.

That would be indeed very cool. I have found myself playing the sims 2 wanting to have some simcity elements in the game, like office buildings, the ability to add new roads to the neighborhood. Also roads , streets and avenues , would be nice to have. And the ability to connect neighborhoods to other neighborhoods I wished they had made more expansions for SimCity 4, it would be nice if EA would give the SimCity 4 Source Code to Simtropolis. Simtropolis has done a lot of great stuff for SimCity 4.

It is a very captivating show. Nicholas Lea from the X-Files stars in the show. Kyle sleeps in a tub , can do Calculus like it was 2 + 2. He knows that he can do things that others can not do , but does not know why he can do these things. The characters in the show are developed quite well and you really feel a real connection to those characters.

I really like the control that Sim City 4 gives me, I have been playing SimCity 4 since it was released back in Januarry 2003, I like how I can control every aspect of my cities, I love how I can terraform my terrain till my hearts content. I especially love all of the custom content that the great Simtropolis Community has worked so hard to create. Regional play adds so much more to SimCity , it gives SimCity 4 unlimited possibilities, One thing I don't like about SimCity Societies is how they have over-simplified the game, you must now plop all of the buildings, You don't have to think about water, which is bad. SimCity Societies is not SimCity 5, I want to see the real SimCity 5, if EA needed ideas for the next SimCity they should have come here, and get the word directly from the SimCity community. I want to see improved terraforming tools, Diagonal Bridges, roads under brdges. I want to be able to drive accross by regions in full 3d. And how about new industries like Fishing and Mining. Because if SimCity had worked itself into a corner the obvious solution is to knock down the wall.

Here is how you create a underwater for any one who is interested, You must fill in the area where you want to put your tunnel. Press and Hold Ctrl + Alt +Shift and click the god mode button. Use the Mountain Tool At the Edge of the land. Use the quick level brush to level from the top of the mountain and level it across the Water. Now drag your road across the the raised land from L to L . Then Save. Now dig out the land between the tunnel. You can use single road tiles to get the level around the entrances of the tunnel.
