I'm not particularly surprised there wasn't a thread already - despite the hype in our little, wee homeland - Rugby just isn't a major sporting event by global standards. It's very much a minority sport - even football/soccer is more widely played here in NZ these days than Rugby is. I hope New Zealand wins, though if we don't it shan't affect me too much - I don't understand anything sport related - but, I know it'd mean a lot to a bunch of people here if we won on home soil, and it'd certainly bring a little bit of a brighter spirit here.

It's a tough issue. It's not helpful to blame the victim, but the fact remains that if you make yourself an attractive target, you increase the odds that you will find yourself targeted. Yes, a woman has every right to dress as she pleases, but to deny that there are consequences to the decision is just wishful thinking. It's done to get attention. Which is understandable. Unfortunately, when one attracts attention, one will sometimes attract unwanted attention. Can't have just the good without the bad. But even beyond that, there are street smarts involved. Don't travel alone at night. Avoid dark areas where you can be snuck up on and cornered. Keeping pepper spray in your purse might not be a bad idea, either. As an aside, Rape and sexual assault usually tend to be less about sexual attraction, and more about power. That's why the argument is flawed.
