  1. Is SimCity that bad?

"Compared to SC4' s bumpy but "okay enough" launch, SC (2013)'s launch is an epic PR disaster with so many people demanding refunds ...... and only 48 hours have passed." Yes, only 48 hours have passed. It means there are quite a few impatient people. To me if EA fixes the server issues, how many of those people are just going to buy the game again anyways? I'll just let it sit for a while, and see what EA does. I didn't have SimCity on March 4th, March 6th doesn't have to be any different, life goes on.
  2. Is SimCity that bad?

I actually find this SimCity quite enjoyable, when it works. Hopefully EA can iron out the server issues in the next week or two, then we'll see. I'll reserve further judgment until then. If they add modding and some good expansion packs and larger city sizes, what's not to like about it? As far as always on DRM. I'm not sure that the always on requirement is solely for DRM purposes, it's for actually being able to play with others in your region in real time.
  3. GoDaddy Super Bowl Ad: was that necessary?

To me I don't see how it makes you want to go out and buy GoDaddy products at all.
  4. Just Played Beta

yeah, the city part... That's odd, I made a city just fine. Pretty hard to make a big city in 1 hour's time with many of the buildings locked.
  5. Just Played Beta

To me, it's still better than societies. It lacks details how so? It is a closed beta with a 1 hour time limit and not even all the buildings are available to be built. Of course it lacks details. It's only really a one hour demo tease not even a closed beta. It's a more solid base to expand upon than Societies was, that's for sure. Can't really expect it to live up to SC4 since that's been out 10 years, had an expansion, and tons of mods. Exactly I loved the beta. The game is more detailed than I was expecting! I am also amazed on how much information and data the game gives you on your city. I was finally able to please all the sims for the first time ever! Then menus are finally streamlined and easy to read This game is heavily focused on the simulation side. I mean an expansion pack on the city building side would be nice. I was also able to upgrade my city hall 3 times. I don't understand the complaints about how easy it is to make money. Most of us use the money cheats to keep our cities flush with cash until they turn a huge profit. Only 6 weeks to the launch... I don't know if I can make it I agree with you. I loved the beta too.l Just finished the 1 hour playtime, and it's much more detailed than I thought, just digging into the graphs. I can't wait until the game is released. It'll get even better when modding starts. I found that I always spent all my money in the beta. The only thing cheaper really is that zoning is free.
  6. What EA could have done

I agree, I come away with the same feeling. The beta ran well on medium settings on my 3 year old i5 laptop. On Simcity 4 I had issues running larger cities. The new Simcity may not allow you to build huge cities (yet)...but you can build better cities.
  7. What EA could have done

Simcity was a simple game gone too simple now in SC2013 lol... based on how CIM is going i think they could build a nice city game with their engine - maybe one day. I beg to differ! I played the beta and the new simcity is heavily focused on the simulation side more so than any Simcity to date. The city building part could use an expansion pack! The point is the new Simcity is quite complicated, it just doesn't look it when you are starring at the city in building mode. I agree, just taking a look at some of the graphs and info, it's actually more in depth than Simcity 4 was. For instance the building density graph, that has different heights for bars based on whether they were ready to upgrade to a higher density, or downgrade to a lower one. You can open and close public buildings, etc, instead of demolishing them. Couldn't do that in SC4. You can also add extensions to buildings such as adding classrooms to schools. Couldn't do that in SC4 outside of increasing the slider, which had no visible effect on the building. Along with clicking on each house and seeing what they liked most about the city, what they disliked most about the city.
  8. What EA could have done

That assumes that your motherboard is capable of handling more RAM. If not, then it's much more than simply buying more RAM.
  9. Discussion about City Tile Size

I'm not surprised. Heck Rush Hour was an expansion and that was 10 years ago,

  11. Discussion about City Tile Size

All it is is just setting Simcity 5 up for an expansion. Simcity 5 : Megalopolis, now with bigger maps & taller buildings.
  12. Just Played Beta

Played through the tutorial, so far I like it. I am a bit concerned about the regions being so small, but it's also nice that you can actually see your cities coming to life. Ran pretty good on my 3 year old laptop on medium settings. I'll give it 8/10. Looking forward to playing the game when it's released. I think the game is a solid base with a good underlying engine and through modding, expansions, etc, maybe we can get bigger regions later on down the road.
  13. SimCity Vs Cities Xl 2012

Also what happens if something happens to the server that your city is on? Well, you get up, and go outside and relax and take a break from playing. Really don't think it will be all doom & gloom as all your posts make it out to be.
  14. It should be noted that The Sims Online was launched in 2002, and was ahead of it's time when it came to the types of casual social gaming brought on by Facebook which launched in late 2004 and didn't really get popular until 2005 & 2006, and other social networking sites. Could be a factor in why it failed as well. Ten years is an eternity with technology & gaming to do a comparison with how things are currently.
  15. I haven't really been following the forum all that much lately, but what things have they broke in an unreleased game? To me always on doesn't bother me really, just as long as single player is kept as an option and not removed entirely. I'm excited about the game and won't give up on it. It's SimCity and I've owned every SimCity game since the first one, I'll at least try it and see if I like it.
