Network Extensions Project
Struckar replied to GC_Vos's topic in Cities: Skylines Modding - Open Discussion
Well the best option is always money. I bought the first couple of DLCs, because they seemed valuable. This last one, for me at least isn't something I want to add to my city simulator.. So one option is boycot (which is quite irrelevent, since this isn't that big of a community) the other is proactive campaign, nag them to do this on their forums, fb page and so forth, not really nag, but discuss everywhere possible. So they see it's of a certain financial interest to them, because people want to buy such a thing. Maybe send them some email, or something.. It would already be great, if modders of the NExt, would get some insight or some help in modding the original things in to a next level system. They are collaborating with some creators and publishing their work as DLC, so why not go the same way maybe with NExt, or something similar. It would be a great oppurtunity for the creators to get a hold of needed information and we could get two versions of NExt, a payable, that would change everything and a free mod, that would do something, but on a much smaller scale. This is proabably a bit off topic, so yeah GO Network extensions! I see this tool as something with a great value and a bright future in this game.- 813 Replies

Network Extensions Project

So this means we should apply some level of pressure to CO, to turn their heads towards the CiM2 networks.. I think those are extremely well done. I loved that game because of those roads. Mostly even bought CSL because of it. Well my intentions were met, I sparked a bit of a discussion in the appropriate direction.- 813 Replies

Network Extensions Project
Struckar replied to GC_Vos's topic in Cities: Skylines Modding - Open Discussion
Hi there!I am wondering if anyone plans, is making, developing, even thinking about a mod, that would enable the in game road layout settings. I know Network extensions are in essence such a mod, however, it still is a bit of rigid in a sense, that it doesn't really offer any costumization of already costumized networks. Which is basically fine, but we don't want it just to be fine, we want it to be ever expanding and getting better and better. What I was thinking of is a system for road layout, where you pick the width of a road. For example we can have something like 5 width types, and then you lay the road, select all of the segments you want to organize and then select all the lanes you want to implement. So, pick one of the widths (5m, 10m, 15m, 20m, 30m) -> select the segments of the road -> (1m, 2m sidewalk; 1m, 2m bike lane on the road; traffic lanes; marked and physical medians (stripes, chevrons, turning lanes, grass, paved and tree line medians), public transport lanes, tramtracks (on grass, pavement, or on either public transit and traffic lanes, and the parking slots in 90°, 45° and parallel. -> apply rules to the street and name it. Now the next step part would be, to have a list of streets, where you could click them, get an info panel, how much trafic they have what the rules are for it, and be able to change all of that. Simply via dialog box, for the whole street. This could probably work with the implementation of tools such as traffic president mod, with their vehicle restrictions, combined with pathways that would have connected rules, so if for example you select the bus lane, that would result in a vehicle restriction and of course add color value to the texture. likewise with all the others, trams for instance would turn in their appropriate color with the tracks turning up on top of that. So is this feasible, could this be something that could be implemented via NExt? What do you guys think of this concept?Cheers, Tadej!- 813 Replies

Thanks, that just might be the case. Is there any option to get a hold of a plugin list in a specific city, if you maybe know?

Hi! I also seem to have a problem with one/some of my cities in a region I've been building for a couple of years now. Now until recently I have had no issues with this region, but now one of my city tiles has started crashing before it loads. I tried multiple things, first the no plugin option, then changing all the settings (which did prove effective on the neighbouring tile), replacing the existing city file with an older version, but to no avail. Now I'm asking here for some help if someone knows the workings of the game any better (in which I strongly believe one does). Here is also the exception report. Exception time: 08/15/2014, at 13:18:30. Exception code: 0xC0000005 (-1073741819) ACCESS_VIOLATION. Current thread ID: 5952 (0x00001740). This is a great idea, surely everyone was waitnig for something like this to come out. I would like to offer a little critique on this one. Not really a negative comment or anything, just a thought. The model seems perfect, however, most elevated networks rise 15m above gorund, so this would be even better with that height. And the other thing, which is actually even more important to emphasize, from my point of view at least. Avenue is a simple network, made by MAXIS and thus is capable of interacting with just about anything. So making the TE lot with it is actaully a good idea, but still quite restrective, as there is no apparent need for it to be a TE lot. If i summarize this in to a bit. It would be very awesome if this overpass wpuld be an overhang, so you could fit RHW's underneath, maybe even others. In the end Simcity is what it is today, because it's mods are becoming more and more intercompatible. There have been a lot of things that are already standardized by the different communities. And I believe standardization should be applied to all of the mods being produced. Otherwise, great work, even great presentation!

How to: Make your own terrain mod
Struckar replied to Heblem's topic in SC4 Modding - Open Discussion
Wow nice tutorial. Would you even be so kind to make a special terrain mod for someone like me, that is a bit computer illiterate in these things? I would be eternally grateful and would name the most precious and beautiful boulevard of my capital city after you. =) Thank you in advance for the answer. -

So I actually lost my account and also started on a new project, that is currently starting with a MD on the SC4D. The reason I started a new project is, because I wanted to build a real big city, with everything made big and as much as it can get up to scale, which I now am doing. So this is totaly inactive and stuff. But you are very much welcome to my new MD called CUR- Celje urban region, which also features Celje (I can't help myself) and can be found here: sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php

As already said: If they turn back to the community and respect it, they will get more profit. The MMO thing was stupid. It worked badly and was as uninteresting as most of the games made today. The problem we're all facing (the game developers and players) is not piracy, but is the low quality of the games. Why is SC4 still alive? It's not a very exciting game is it? But you can play it every day and you're able to make something new every day. You have vast systems that you control and build and you actually upgrade things in your city. Shooting people every day in the same ''room''/enviroment or racing same cars on the same roads, gets on your/my nerves after 2-3 days. No problem with MMO's I'd be willing to pay for MC's subscription, but not for an expansion pack with 5 buildings a new road texture and a few busses. I'd pay it if it were somewhere on the scale of SC4 today. Where you are able to create and design allmost anything. I'm sick and tired of hearing if you want to play it you'll pay it. It's up to us the players, to let them know, that it's time to make it good if they want to sell it. It time for them to lower the profits in order to have a longer and more secure sale of the game. If EA or Maxis was smart, they could be selling the licenses of SC4 to modders so they could make new mods for them, so they would have less effort and costs and a better game, and make a new SC5 together, but instead they've changed tactics and started to sell SC for brainless people. And MC are close to getting there to. The only thing saving them is that the game has just been released. And they still have time to make worthy of what they call it. The new generation of city builder games.

You do know the cheat whererufrom yourcityname? With which you change your city's name. Just a hint, if you want to change that 23 city.
