You've done such an amazing job with laying out the natural scenes...It looks so beautiful and real, and peaceful.
  2. Ventura City

Replies: GreekMan: Thanks! I'm glad my city has a good urban vibe...it takes a long time to get it to look how I want to, and so its good to hear that the effort is not done in vain. Aaron Graham: Thanks a bunch. And thanks again for all your wonderful buildings, my next update will feature quite a bit of them... This update will be a bit shorter, I am currently reworking my downtown, trying to make it more realistic and fun. But, I had a few more images of Williams that I wanted to share before I started showing images of downtown Ventura City. So as always, here is a region view of the focus area: That's it for today, and thanks for visiting!

Your city looks so beautiful...I would live there! You have done really great work on all the plazas and parks too, that is one of my favorite parts of your city.

  5. Show us your Downtown!

Replies: Superbacon: I never though about how long it would taxi around the airport, and your right...I would hate to have to wait all that time just to start my flight! I'm glad that you like the airport anyways, and that this oversight didn't ruin it for you. It did take quite a long time to work out, but it was enjoyable TekindusT: I'm really glad to hear that you are liking Ventura City. I am still learning things about the game and hope it continues to improve, and that you continue to like it! I'm not ignoring your suggestions about improving the realism of my runways, yet I need a break from the airport. GreekMan: Thanks! Its good to hear that the realism is showing through, that is my goal with playing SC4 ThirtyThree: Thanks! Thanks again to those who gave me feedback on how to improve upon my airport. Its much appreciated, and I'm not ignoring you, but I am a bit bored with the airport, thus I'm going to work on other projects of the city for now. And this brings me to the neighborhood of Williams, and older, low income neighborhood sandwiched between the airport to the south and the central warehouse district of Ventura City to the north, as you can see in the region view below: The two major streets running through the area are Hawthorne Avenue running north and south and Cascade Avenue running east and west. Roosevelt and Venton are also two major streets bisecting the neighborhood. Roosevelt is the southern boundary of the Central Manufacturing District, while Venton Street cuts through the center. Zooming in on Hawthorne avenue, we see where the power lines cross the avenue, surrounded by commercial and industrial businesses. And there is also residential mixed in as well: Following the power lines to the west, it cuts through the backyards of homes Now zooming in on Roosevelt and Venton, we come across the Woodville (on Roosevelt) and Salisbury (on Venton) apartment complexes Heading south on Venton, we drive through block and blocks of houses... And driving East along Roosevelt, we see the neighborhood transition from residential to warehouses. And last but not least is McKinley Elementary School and Park Thanks for visiting!

Wow! Number Three! I've got to figure out how to move up on the list, I've got some great competition!

You probably did see KLM, I used the planes that I already had downloaded and forgot to change/download new ones, so none of them match right now... And there is massive underground parking, the circular road at the end of the parking lot right up next to Warren Plaza leads to it.

Thanks Ultimate727, and I'll do you one better. Here is a map of the airport, though it is set up by airline more than by destination:

Replies: Waybig: I would love to see pics of your city, I also find it very interesting how the same parameters can produce very different results. Testuser1234: I'm glad that you enjoy my parks, they are a lot of fun to create. Snugies: I'm embarrassed to say, but I honestly can't tell if you are being serious or not with your comment, so sorry if you don't like it... TekindusT: Thanks much! I put a lot of effort into my suburbs, and I am happy with how they are turning out, and that others think the same way as well. SimCoug: Thanks! Ultimate 727: Thanks... Aaron Graham: Thanks! I really love all of your buildings - I have downloaded the majority of them, so I hope that I am doing them justice ThirtyThree: I am glad I hit refresh, or I would have missed your comment before I hit update. I'm really glad that you enjoy Ventura Cityj So, obviously I am not very good at regular updates. I tried, I really did...but I got distracted. But here I am again, this time with an update featuring Ventura City International Airport. And just a disclaimer: I am in no way an airplane, runway, taxiway, or anything airport related expert, so there are probably technical problems in the design, which I ask you to please ignore and imagine it is as it is functionally supposed be. First off, lets situate ourselves with a region shot giving you an idea of where the Airport is located - a very centralized location touching the southern edge of downtown and near two major highways Here is a closer picture showing a bit more detail. I am a little upset that the neighborhood around the airport isn't a little more built up, though I wanted to get an update out before I lost interest again. This is the main plaza and parking, collectively called Warren Plaza. and again at night: This is the east entrance to the main terminal of the airport And finally, here are some shots of the terminals, first an overview of all four, with the forest courtyard in the center: And a closeup of concourse D: And Concourse B: Hope you enjoyed!

A quiet plaza amidst offices, restaurants and shops 8. Victoria Park 9. An overview of the neighborhood 10. Replies: 89James89: Thanks very much! I'm glad you enjoy watching the region grow. I wish I could have finished it completely before starting this city journal, but it takes forever, and I would probably never start a city journal! TekindusT: Thanks! It is a lot of fun making the suburbs! Ultimate727: I'm happy to hear you like this CJ! This update will focus on Quincy, a neighborhood just north of downtown Oceanside. I am also trying my hand at night shots, I hope they came out well. To orient yourself, here is a region shot of the area: 1: Quincy Freeway during the day 2: Quincy Freeway during the night 3: Quincy Drive during the day 4: Quincy Drive at night 5: Cascade Avenue at night near Orange Drive 6: Driving west on Cascade Avenue 7: Cascade Avenue, just to the East of Quincy Freeway 8: Cascade Avenue as it passes Quincy Freeway 9: Markum Square 10: Southmoore Drive in southwest Oceanside As you approach Quincy via the Freeway, this is the view you will be met with: ...and the same shot at night: The main road through Quincy is Quincy Drive. It cuts straight through the heart of the neighborhood - you can see the beginning of Quincy Drive in the above picture if you look just to the right of the highway for the diagonal street. The road just to the east of Quincy Drive is Southmoor Drive, which we will visit further on in this update. and again at night: Another major road through the neighborhood is Cascade Avenue, and this is one of the few roads that reach all the way from downtown Ventura to the Ocean. Here is a shot of Cascade Avenue on the eastern outskirts of the neighborhood. Orange drive is the diagonal road which cuts through the picture: And driving east, we come to a few shopping centers: Just before the freeway are many popular restaurants, bars, shops and hotels: Finally crossing over the highway, you are only a few blocks from the ocean: Here is a pretty shot at dusk of Markum Square, a quiet little plaza tucked away amidst the homes and shops. The lights stay on year round, and it is a popular place for locals to pass the time, playing or relaxing. And finally, we will visit Southmoore Drive, which connects downtown Oceanside to Quincy: I hope you enjoyed this update of Quincy. Please comment, and come back again!

Replies: N106: I'm glad that you like this CJ, and I am very glad to hear that the realism shows through. Sorry for the very delayed update, but here it is. Vivapanda: I'm glad to hear you like the way Ventura City snakes through the valley turned out, It is one of my favorite things about Ventura City. Again, sorry for the very delayed update. I got busy with school and work again. But, bright side, I graduated, so I have much more free time to hopefully update regularly now. This is more of a teaser, I have been working lately on trying to fill in the region a little more, and so here are some region view. The next update will again focus solely on one area. If anyone wants to see a certain area showcased, leave me a comment, and I will try to focus on that in the next update. A closeup of the western edge of the city A closeup of the eastern, mountainous end of the city Thanks!
