BAT windows 98, and night textures on BAT buildings
toroca replied to TexasWestern70Mac's topic in SC4 BAT & Lot Workshop
The BAT buildings light up just fine for me (at least the ones that had night lighting properly created by the architect!), and I'm on 98... -

You should have waited a day, Tropod. Considering the timing and the current changes on the site, I can't help but wonder whether this is real or another well-crafted piece of a very elaborate prank...

Looks good! But I would suggest making it shorter. Cars can take pretty steep hills, so there's no need to make the slope as long and smooth as you did for the rail version. I'm sure we can get someone to help make this fully transit-enabled once it's completed...

Personally, I'd much rather see the reverse of this. I'd prefer the road to go under the rail line, because in the real world heavy rail lines don't change height very often because its a LOT harder for a train to take than a car...

The latest picture looks much better, but now I'm thinking you might want to try exaggerating the window lines a little bit. They're almost lost now, and it makes the building look less detailed.

I wish I had BAT skills so I could assist you with the color scheme, but 3D stuff is not my forte. I learned that lesson in college. I do agree though, it's difficult to make buildings for SC4 that are highly reflective. The texturing options don't allow that kind of glass without some creative tinkering it seems, as I haven't seen many reflective glass structures that looked realistic thus far. My guess is you're not the only one who's not quite sure what to do to get it...

Well, personally I think you've got the shading reversed... it should be darker near the bottom than toward the top, because when seen from the air, reflective buildings will reflect more ground than sky, the reverse of how they look from ground level... That's part of the reason Maxis' original texture for Yates Real Estate looked so ridiculous. It looked like it was only reflecting sky, even though our perspective is looking DOWN on it.

I still wish someone would make one that would fit on a 6x6 lot so that it would be easy to make it growable. Looks good though, regardless of whether it's something I'll actually use.
