Cities XL community website XL Nation.net down :(
kgw_games replied to supercity124's topic in Cities XXL
The owner of the site has no intent of upgrading it. He has basicly stop working on the site. He has no idea why this happens but it seems to correct itself after a few days. -
If you want a large city you need at least 4GB+ on a 64bit OS. The GPU is OK. In any case when the UI bogs down exit the map and reload due to the memory leaks in the game.

Major SimCity misconceptions dispelled
kgw_games replied to VeritaScientia's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
It is possible. You tile the entire region with 1x1 tiles and allow any 2x2 to be selected for viewing and editing. What is not seen only needs general computation not simulation. Navaigation to adjacent tiles drops the tiles on the other side. With the restrictions of 2x2 and not being able to develope near the edge they should call it SimVillage. -
SimCity: Transit and Roading Networks
kgw_games replied to alvinheriadi's topic in SimCity (2013) General Discussion
Good idea. Many countries are building bicycle 'highways' and other infrastructure for cyclists. The CAM had a bicycle clone for SC4, but it pretty much just sped up pedestrian traffic. Plopped bke paths on the STEX are eyecandy only. On TV a while back they had an actual town with only sidewalks and canals. You could access any home or business directly from the canal. -
Alarming tile size discovery. Its really 1 km x 1 km

There is a solution that I even wanted for SC4. The entire region is tiled with small 1x1 squares. For SC5 pick any 2x2 area (for sc4 4x4) to be loaded for editing and playing. When you want to work near a boundary, save and load the next 2x2 overlapping viewport. One very huge city without taxing the graphics. -
Would not surprise me if it was a stripped down version for playing on a phone.
