  1. [REQ] Hillside GRL to Subway?

I don't think that's a very big problem.. in fact, it comes in handy if you run a road next to the GLR. If the tunnel entry is a prop, set Previewable to true. If it is a building, don't change anything. Then you'll be able to see it during the plop. BTW, I also modified it to work with rail, for a rail trench that was too shallow for the puzzle pieces.
  2. AS Chicago Picasso Sculpture

sweet, thanks! I had gotten about halfway through BATting this myself (about 25min of work, don't feel bad). I hope the scale is proper...
  3. Night Darkness MOD?

The lighting exemplar is, I believe, the first exemplar, if the files are sorted by position.
  4. NAM: Development

AFAIK, the LotConfig property only allows for adjacent tile-limiters, RUL connection flags, and custom paths. Nothing about spawning transit tiles next to it, like the interchange RUL uses...
  5. NAM General Discussion Thread

Oh, I see - you added underground paths to a road puzzle piece. Nice thinking. The problem here is that you cannot run it beneath buildings or water, which limits its use. Is it possible to make puzzle pieces on the underground layer?
  6. NAM: Development

Wow.. this is all so complex. I guess it's just you guys trying to make the best out of an inflexible system that you can't change. I can follow you guys' discussion, but being without any actual RUL coding experience, I can't really add any thoughts. t7t: using Method B, how would a GLR drag be initiated? If you freed up the second ElRail RUL, would that enable you to add a new drag tool/icon? I understand that you have two solutions to continue a drag, and then prevents are in place to make it choose a GLR 02000200, but how does it get onto GLR in the first place? Do you simply start the drag from a ramp puzzle piece, like Method A uses? smoncrie: did you receive my files properly? It's a big job to path them, of course - I don't expect you to finish any time soon. I'd be willing to calculate the points on the curves for you. (I'm in trig right now, so it's fresh in my mind.. hehe)
  7. Once the draggable GLR is finished, I'll be happy to make a graphical upgrade that'll appear when the GLR is dragged in the middle of a highway. Oh, and I'm currently working on puzzle pieces to cross multi-highways.
  8. The Moose Factory (virtual Bar & Grill)

We learned 'ita vero' as the phrase for yes. The English 'no' can have multiple translations in Latin, for each usage (nullum, nihil, non, minime, etc.) Yeah, Cicero is really tough. Quo usque abutere, Catilina, patientia nostra? Next semester, we read Ovid, but in English. We read it for the subject matter, I guess. Next year is Vergil's Aeneid. My teacher doesn't care for Caesar, so he doesn't teach it. Not sure why, though. For a self-professed old man, you seem to have an excellent memory. Personally, I like the idea that men and women have time, after their careers are over, to seriously sit down and really think about things, for a change.
  9. Converting Planes for SimCity.

The lot has to be big enough to fit the prop before it appears in the list....
  10. The Moose Factory (virtual Bar & Grill)

Date: 1/21/2006 6:25:10 PM Author: N_O_Body @ Leech10: A noun (adjective, adverb, pariciple) is declined if it has various forms depending on its use. The various positions are called cases. An English example is: who nominative case; whom objective case. These are often expressed through the word having a root + case ending. In Latin there are six cases, but often 12 endings since plurals may have a different ending. Example: puella - girlnominative puella - the/a girlgenitive puellae - of the/a girl (I will omit articles, because Latin doesn't really have them from here on)dative puellae - to (the) girlaccusative (objective) puellam - (the) girlvocative puella - O! girlablative puella - (some preposition required) girl Enough! already. There are also ending for the plural, and there are six declensions (sets of nouns). Note that not all endings are unique, and people will tell you that Latin is an easy language. Latin scholars please correct, if necessary. I haven't done this kind of thing since 1955. quote> Heheh. You got it right. Vocative is direct address; usually, you only get it with names of people, as in Come here, Vid!. Vid would be vocative in that sentence. As for Latin, it's really not that bad. Composition in Latin is incredibly easy once you know the forms. However, translation is a bit harder, because Latin doesn't have a rigid sentence order like English does. (subject-verb-object) Our Latin teacher decided that this year, being the first year of Latin literature, we would start off with Cicero's First Catilinarian Speech. Talk about your rude awakening. Articles: Latin has no real articles. Occasionally, pronouns will be used to fill in for their lack. I don't mind the lack of a definite article (the) but the lack of an indefinite gets annoying sometimes. Latin should've done like most languages, and used the word one as their indefinite. Oh, and we got a ton of snow overnight here. Screwing up things eveywhere, it is. Several of my teammates got kicked off of the swim team this morning because they got to practice late and forgot to have a parent excuse them....
  11. NAM: Development

Shadow_Asassin: Well, it would be a very big job to go from what I have now to a fully-functional interchange. I did find a way to go from gmax->S3D without using the BAT render or any skinning. Unfortunately, I have no batch way to do it, so I have to do it one tile at a time. *shrugs* Still beats the hell out of the old way of doing these things. Once I learn how to write gmax plugins, then I'll try making a batch plugin.
  12. UK River Island

Oh - for a second there, I thought you were making a BAT of an island to plop on a river... Maybe with some little "shops-on-the-rock", LOL. Nice job anyways.
  13. Rodina

Date: 1/20/2006 10:12:25 PM Author: sepsis Krsj quote> How do you pronunce a word with no vowels? Anyways, looking good. I especially liked that factory complex.
  14. to make offramps, you need the single-sided offramps from the NAM. then, plop one on the stretch of ground highway you use to make one side of the highway. do this BEFORE you drag the elevated highway! then, drag the elevated highway over half of the ground highway, including the offramps. as for a station: it is indeed possible. you just have to plop it so it touches the road puzzle piece.
  15. Submenus would be helpful

Date: 1/17/2006 2:25:36 PM Author: Daeley submenus would be helpful yes, however posting something in all-caps asking about something that is being worked on generally isn't helpful at all. I'm currently working on something that will allow you to hide lots in the menu if you're not using that set, but it requires a small conversion on all lots in question, and thus it will take time. As is generally the case with SC4 mods, patience will be rewarded. m'kay?quote> Haha! So you did decide to go through with it! I wish you the best of luck here. I'm not experienced enough in programming to do it, but I definitely tried.. lol.
  16. Jason's BATs & Tutorials

Keep the statues. I like 'em. Oh, and I'm loving the Roman Bath windows (after all, the prototype for them was the Baths of Caracalla/Diocletian). />
  17. The Portland & Oregon BAT Team, Chapter 1

Can you post a pic of your LOD? I'd like to see it. My current theory on this is that it is somehow related to the shadow system in SC4. If this is true, then we may be able to do something about it.
  18. Question about Bridge Height

Well, actually, I don't think the seaports care whether the bridges are low or not. To my knowledge, the seaports export freight as long as there is a little bit of water on the edge of the map. You don't even need a continuous water route, so long as there's water on the edge of the map somewhere.
  19. Washburn Water Tower

Ooh, very nice! I like the Art Deco detailing.
  20. The Portland & Oregon BAT Team, Chapter 1

try saving the roof into a seperate scene, then rendering the roof only. if the problem recurs, then you can re-render and fix it more quickly.
  21. The Simtropolis Auto Show Thread

Er.. the point of concept cars is to showcase the top design work from the major auto manufacturers. These are almost never meant as actual production models, only as reflections on the quality of the company's regular product. Those who are car buffs will most likely go for the concepts only. The majority of people will be wowed by them, yes, but they'll go there to get information for their next car purchase. So, the concept cars being shown have nothing to do with American companies competing against the Asian companies (who also make their own concept cars for the same reasons).
  22. BSC Prop Packs and Textures.

Er.. this is kind of a big request, but here it is: Do you think, either in the STEX descriptions or somewhere on the forums, that you could enumerate the props in each prop pack, with rough dimensions? Doing so will allow the community members to better select which prop packs to download when they are making lots, and also make it easier within BSC to use your prop packs efficiently. Lastly, it will help greatly to avoid duplicate props. If I installed the entire BSC prop library, I'm sure I would have at least 3 or 4 different 16m straight chainlink fence props, which look quite similar. There have been two circumstance recently where BSC props could have enriched the look of one of my lots. I only found these props later, after the lot had already been finalized.
  23. mipro Barry Sanders Project

Date: 12/23/2005 9:42:44 PM Author: Jasoncw It was also the largest Department store after Macy's (New York) and Marshall Fields (Chicago), and of course now all Hudsons are named Marshall Fields, which is really annoying. I still call it Hudsons anyways... quote> Not anymore... Now all Marshall Field's are changing their names to Macy's. And we lose another great old name from retail.... 20 years from now, people will have no friggin clue who Marshall Field was, except that his company used to own the Macy's on State Street. Anyways, some great work going on here! I especially like that latest shot of the 6-story building. Buildings like that are useful everywhere.
  24. McMansions Discussion Thread

I honestly could care less about the architecture of these subdivisions. My view on them is that they use traditional architectural styles, so they aren't all bad, although they do try to be a little too grandiose. No, I'd be perfectly happy with these houses if they were built in good, connective neighborhoods with sidewalks that don't require cars to get around. BTW, not all McMansions are as grab-bag-ish as the ones you posted. Some are quite modern (windows without sills, etc.) and some are very traditional.
  25. Green Depra

Wow, this CJ is incredible. Excellent use of trees; I especially like how you make the coastline look rough and realistic. BTW - are you gonna do a CJ for Gold Depra?
