"moldovia" better to say the Republic of Moldavia is a part of the historic province of "moldova" wich include regions in nowadays Ukraine, the republic and Romania ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moldavia it is habitated mostly by romanians and the state was a romanian one (over 90%romanian). the presence of the russians and austrians in the regions made the Principality of Moldavia (wich at that time was under ottoman rule) give up around 60% of it's territory: Bukovina(in the north) to Austria and Bassarabia (the eastern half of the region) to the russians in the late 18th-early 19th century. the end of the WW1 meant the unification of those regios with the remainder of Moldovia (at that time united with Wallachia under the name of Romania) it remainded so until 1940 when USSR and Germany divided the world and Romania shamefully accepted to give the north part of Bukovina and all the eastern part (now called Bassarabia) to the russians. after the fall of communism the RSSR of Moldovia (a soviet republic) broke free from the crumbling USSR, and proclaimed itsself as the Republic of Moldovia. it was, at that time 75-80% romanian. in any case it was a referendum wich resulted the refusal of the people in the republic to join Romania (this result is heavily suspected of fraud). si Moldavia remains till this day an "independent" state in the CIS, under russian army presence (in the east of the country). and of course there is a strong voice of unity between theese 2 countries (that share the same language and flag). what will happen is to be seen. now moldovia is ruptured by economic crisis (the poorest state in Europe) coruption, interethinc fights (the soviets brought many russians and ukrainins and romaians were sent to other parts of USSR), lack of population (as 1/3 of the population has fled), communist dictatorship and Romania's influence. also it is worth mentioning that after the region was given to the soviets in 1941 they took parts of it and gave it to the RSSR of Ukraine and some regions were given to moldavia, that is why parts of the historical moldovia are in Ukraine I am sorry for this gross off-topic, I felt like writing it for the people who might not know a lot about this region.

great CJ, I love it, this reminds me of my anthropology class but regarding the mountain, seriously, I would have picked the sun, or the sea, not o piece of rock. it could have been only a holy place, (like the native australians praise certain places)
