I am using this > www.simtropolis.com/omnibus/index.cfm/Main.SimCity_4.Making_Money_The_Easy_Way:_Part_I So I'm working along and when my sims reach a population of 2,000 Dirty industry demand plummets and goes in the negatives, and people start abandoning their homes since they can't find work. Plus agriculture goes through the roof, when I go and try expanding industrial zones nothing happens and the same story is over in the residential city. Since I figured that this isn't going anywhere I obliterated both of those cities and deleted them further in the map editor. So the area is clean without any neighbor connections, roads and everything and I start over again. So now I made the same setup as before and now people refuse to move in and only a few moved in after I placed commercial in the residential city. Most don't have jobs even though the industrial city has 120 jobs available and the residential one only has around 70. Anyone know what's going on?

Sims decide not to go work in industry
Mr. Random replied to Mr. Random's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
I fixed 1x1 residential by placing mass transit very early instead of later as the guide says, but unemployment still becomes a problem because of the awful job finding abilities of sims. Best setup so far was this ===================== ===================== P| |B ------------------------------------- | | ------------------------------------- | | ------------------------------------- P| |B P = parking B = Bus - = Street | | = Road == = Avenue So I use that with 1*1 residential and I repeat the parking bus set up if you expand it and the unemployment goes down a lot since the sims can access jobs. Hope this helps those with the same problem. -
Corruption doesn't matter, look at China, they have an incredibly corrupt political system yet they are the fastest growing nation on Earth. It's the violence mainly. Consider that MANY Americans base things on fear/media. While I'm not saying that all Americans do, a large majority sure do. Think about all the news reports of gang violence in Mexico. While yes, the media has a part in overplaying it, the "fear" reflex will kick in at this point. How many people would spend millions of dollars for development and factories if they think it will be burned or destroyed by gangs? Not very many. When the Mexican President finally deals with gang violence with education instead of guns (while yes they do play their part) then MAYBE American investors may take notice when reports of crime become less.

Downloading speeds have and probably will continue to be slow from 12-9PM EST, I really don't care much because usually if I cancel the download and try again it usually goes a bit faster. But in case it doesn't I cancel it and wait for tomorrow. It's not like it's going anywhere, and you certainly lived without it before. If you want to help and you have money go donate to Dirk $30 gets you a cool CD pack that basically makes it so you don't need this site anymore. With the exception of the forums and updates to the NAM, lol.

Sim City! For your Calculator?
Mr. Random replied to SimLord the Great's topic in City-Building Games
I've seen this group make a Game Boy Emulator on the TI-84. but it only works with certain older calculators since TI cut some of the extra memory to make it cheaper to make newer TI-84's. -
The science fiction lightspeed (or not) comparison
Mr. Random replied to N3rdplayer3's topic in General Off-Topic
Well I'd think that as long as you go FTL it'll still be useful. So I don't think it would matter all too much whether you use Warp speeds or Hyperspace. -

Changing the suburb layout and adding bus stops ever few rows seems to have fixed unemployment. Thanks! -

Sims decide not to go work in industry
Mr. Random replied to Mr. Random's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
Manufacturing also goes down soon after dirty industry even if it's watered and everything. EDIT: Well, through testing with radical demand mods I've concluded Sims hate working in dirty industry no matter how poorly educated, and low wealth they are. Even if they are in the same city. Weird... EDIT 2: Alright, I also noticed that as soon as I get rid of potential jobs right outside the pedestrian radius then all of a sudden people stop working. I think this might be the problem. Any solutions to this? This is what is happening. EDIT 3: After installing the latest NAM and using Z Ultra settings the issue with pedestrians and cars is now fixed. Adding industry on the other end and demolishing the suburbs and replacing them with a new layout also solved the problem of no residents. But this solution isn't really satisfactory since I am sorta forced to use a radical industry mod until I get a sizeable population. :/ Does anyone have a way to not need one? -

I'd definity go for the PS3. Easier interface than the 360 (Wtf? PS3 ripoff sideways) and the wii (wtf more?) Great graphics quality thats better than the 360 (should the wii be mentioned? ) Proving my point. The PS3 uses a processor that can be used in supercomputers. Which is pretty freaken epic. Same great controller design (I love how its been the exact same thing for two decades now) which the Xbox can't exactly say concerning the brick of last gen and Nintendo going from a lego to a remote control with fancy motion detectors. And nintendo going from. A plastic brick, to some spaceship looking thing, to a lego, to a remote control that doesn't look like a controller at all. I find it much easier to stick with sony. Price... $700 --> $450-550 ish. Not bad concerning that the Xbawkz is 300-400 ish New games that are finally coming out for the PS3 There are supposed to be more good exclusives for the PS3 than the Xbox Folding@home I like how I can contribute to science while not playing. Its awesomes More later? Ah. Yes. I like the 360, and go to my friends house to play on it all the time but in reality they're balanced except for games and game support.
