  1. Highways on region map.

You're probably going to have to reinstall your game, but don't worry, before you do, copy all the contents from the sim city 4 folder in your my documents, place them elsewhere under a name you can remember, then re install. Afterwards, you can replace the files in the new sim city 4 folder with the ones that you copied and then all your stuff will be back to order and your highways and interchanges should be back.
  2. Reaction is Overwheliming Negative

There are already two demos on you tube. I don't like the fact that there are hover cars, floating traffic signs and tree houses either. I can already say now, that I will not enjoy this game as much as Sim City 4. The only good part, in my eyes, is that you can basically run your city like Hitler, which is probably what I will end up doing for four years until maxis makes a better Sim City 5. I'm going to check it out though, because it seems a lot easier to make a big sky scraping city, which is always fun. I do think tilted mills ruined a great opportunity to maintain the dignity and complexity of a very special franchise. They did choose a more fiscally rewardable by creating the game for a different demographic, whether they admit to it or not. Which makes a lot of sense, but is also extremely disappointing. I see that they have made two previous games prior to Sim City Societies, all of which look contendable to the game. The graphics are definitely substandard and don't look up to par even to SC4 graphics which was made four years ago. It Is a huge disappointment to people who waited four years for a more complex and more fun Sim City 5, and now they will have to wait another four. I'm not saying the game won't be fun, I'm just saying it won't be Sim City. That's what is upsetting this community the most, I think. And nobody at Titled Mills is denying it. Someone from the company posted on their forums about how it is not a realistic city simulator, or something along those lines. And that is exactly what Sim City is. A realistic simulation of a city or cities. I also don't think that Tilted Mill even knows a thing or two about Sim City 4. The lady in the you tube videos said that in the previous game you could only make one kind of city, which is their excuse, more or less, to go in a new direction. This leads me to believe they haven't played Sim City 4 much, or even at all. You can make farm towns, megalopolises[sic], industrial boom towns, neighborhoods... etc. There is so much variety in Sim City 4 that they must have overlooked. People are out their with their game from four years ago recreating New York City, Japan, Boston, Los Angeles, and other places around the world, and they are documenting it. I really feel like as a community we have been let down regarding any kind of positive transgressions. A fun game? Maybe. Sim city? Definitely not.
  3. Newbie Help

What size city are you working on? My smallest city squares sit around 20K for awhile then they start climbing again. You have to fill the whole map, have good health care and education, short commutes are always a plus and mass transit seems to help me out with neighboring cities. If you're playing on a larger map and you've filled it up, then you might be zoning too much commercial and industrial and not enough residential.
  4. Show Us Your Suburbs

Atomic sheep, search Amsterdam in the STEX for those buildings. They show up frequently in my cities, and they are very nice
  5. City won't grow

Parks and plazas help. If you have other successful cities surrounding it, they should also influence your demands for certain things. The way I get certain industries and businesses in is by setting high taxes (20 percent) on the industries I definitely don't want and lowering the taxes for the type of industry and businesses I do want. I usually over tax the dirty industry because it messes up a lot of the desirability and contributes a LOT to the pollution. If you have a lot of industry, then they are most likely the problem.
  6. Environment bar always red

If you tax the dirty industry a lot, they'll go away eventually, which will decrease the water and air pollution
  7. what is up with my high ways?

https://sc4devotion.com/csxlex/fr_main.htm you're going to have to register, but thats free, but afterwards download the NAM and install it and it should replace all your old NAM pieces and give you the ones you're missing
  8. what is up with my high ways?

This happened to me whenever I first tried installing the NAM. You don't have all of the files, so go to another website and download the NAM in full and then replace all the old NAM files you had. It should work after that. It's definitely not your PC/MAC or your graphic card
  9. region-sized city

I don't really think that is possible. But you could just do every tile as very large, starting in the middle and then branching out. A lot like real cities.
  10. WORLD

the train and avenue intersection in this picture is brilliant! How did you manage to do that?
  11. NDEX ITS Tower 42

  12. BLaM Hume Tower

  13. Mass transit developments

The DART in dallas is really nice I used to ride from Parker to Akard every time I went downtown. It's a fun trip!
  14. Architecture - Dental Office

Don't forget a sink in the area before the room with all the chairs so you can brush before your dentists tells you to work on your brushing
  15. Architecture - Dental Office

    dont forget the fish tank!
  16. Simtropolis 1000

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this or not(I'm not going to read 18 pages), but I think that if you can't make an independent game, I would be easier to just make a really BIG expansion pack. Things that include the NAM, RHW, alot of Unique BAT's, newer roads, newer growable buildings, newer landmarks, newer rewards, and more. I would definitely go for a new massive expansion pack that could include a whole bunch of stuff to the game I currently have. I like your ideas though, and I fully support you guys!
  17. Demand problems?

What I do when I try to encourage people to build is to lower taxes for that particular group and raise taxes for the groups I want to avoid.
  18. I lived in Dallas for 16 years and these are the highways that I am pretty familiar with: This is highway 75 heading towards Dallas George Bush intersecting with 75 Named after the first one, NOT his son The High 5, which I've been on, it's not as high as the name would suggest, and they painted the supporting pillars some really "interesting" colors. This photo was taken before then this is a shot of where some major highways intersect in downtown. The system there has things labeled terribly. To go north from 35 onto 75 is a nightmare, unless you were there before they changed the suggested route to take. You can basically go both ways, but with all the quality drivers the fine city of Dallas has, it makes things difficult. A little bit of history: For a while the Highway 75 was considered to be the most dangerous highway in America, due to only being a four lanes wide. Eventually it would make its way to being an 8 lane highway and at some places even larger. The entire southern segment was decommissioned in favor of interstate 45. Anyways, I moved to Austin about a month ago, and I can't find any pictures of the highways here. But I hope you enjoy the ones I've shown you of Dallas! [Please stay within the 800 x 600 limit.] Marc
  19. Demand problems?

You could download the High Demand Ordinance Mod, which expedites your cities growth substantially

does this replace any existing railways?
  22. We Love SCS!

  23. They should find someone to make an actual Sim City 5 for the rest of us who want to play something more fun than a pre-established community. I got five fingers, but I'm giving you one EA.
