  1. I dont remember if I've posted this here before or not, but here goes. This is a copy of the Toronto "Official Plan" map that I've recoloured to use sim city colours! Toronto does not use the same R-C-I that we do. Commercial is replaced with "Mixed Use", and Industrial with "Employment Areas". In general, they do transition. I've edited the map myself to try and show the difference between office and service commercial uses.
  2. as it says on the tin. I'd like to change my username to Teddy (and if that's taken, then TheNewTeddy) EDIT - I think a moderator is going to help me.
  3. New Account / Username Register

  5. MURRAY ISLANDS I've tried two abortive CJs before using maps of Prince Edward Island. I think the reason is the map is just too big and I lost interest. I've decided to try it using a smaller map. I am using a modified variant of this map: https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/details.cfm?id=12813 The plan is to start with a rural community, and build it into a city, while simulating realistic growth patterns and limits Our story begins with the independence of three islands in mid Atlantic. Each island was colonized by a different country, and all three are different, at least at the beginning. All three have thrown off the shackles of colonialism and are ready for freedom. There are three islands that make up the new nation. Dundas Island, in the centre, is the most developed of all. Despite being the smallest, it contains a large portion of the population (if I can fit it, it will be the most populated island) It is the location of the new capital. St. Clair Island, in the north, is also well settled. It's transportation system is based on the railroad, and the rails branch off every which way and direction. The settlement patterns can be best described as "erratic" Dufferin Island, in the south, is the largest island by far, but also the most under-developed. Decisions had to be made after union as to how to run the new country. Each island had a different development pattern. Dundas Island, and St. Clair Island were run as single units, with a single Island-wide municipality. Dufferin Island, however, had clearly sectioned off lots that were run as townships. Adding to this is the fact that a wide 'greenbelt' was mandated between townships. The townships are boringly square, and do not always take geography into account. It was decided that the new nation would use the existing Township model and expand it to the other islands. The nation is a democracy, and the politics of the day may end up dictating development. As a reader you take the role of a viewer of a ongoing documentary series on the islands. The first episode is about to start, so curl up and watch!! .
  6. LOl I've gone and screwed up again! sorry guys! I will have to start a new CJ thread, this one is not going the way I wanted to, gah. Also note I may/should have a new username when I do this. Thanks.
  7. Replies: Thanks! I already have the NAM and am fiddling with RHW's to make them work (I'll upload a pic of an idea I have) I could use more rural themed custom content, especially growables. Ideas are welcome!!
  8. Our story begins with the monthly meeting of residents in the town hall, which is also the town's fire hall. At the meeting, residents discussed issues that affected their seaside village. The town of Coxwell was, in fact, both rural and agricultural in nature. The town's size is limited in part due to the strange laws of the land, which divide everything into neat little squares Put another way, here are some pictures to start you off

If things work out, I may apply to join in!
  10. Can't find it?... Ask here!

Are there good "port packs" with few dependencies? I do have one dependency pack I think, lemme check.. Yes I do, its called NDEX Global Essentials.
  11. U-Build-It (110% Interactive)

Where did you get your town hall from the first post from? I'd like one.
  12. Can't find it?... Ask here!

I'm looking for something that will allow me to build realistic looking ports. Thanks.
  13. Need help finding

For some reason I cannot search the stex today. I downloaded the NAM yesterday and it has GLR-in-road. A very very neat thing (considering we have the real stuff here in Toronto) and I'd love to play with it, but alas, no stations. I'm wondering if you can point me towards some (any) RTMT (road top mass transit) stations for GLR in Roads and/or Avenues. Thanks in advance
  14. Need help finding

There is a download with a picture of a station inside an avenue GLR, but I downloaded the pack and it does not have the peice! Does anyone know anything about RTMT for GLR?

BTW, I will be doing everyone's lots in the beginning of next week, we have had some severe waether conditions with winds of 120 kms an hr, and some damage has been done to my property. Everything's going well though, sorry for me being late again. mrb Edit: nickjbor, are you interested in this new BAT that I made on a lot with some power? It kinda looks like a power producing engine, right? I was going to use it for my own as a prop for small industries, but I can arrange it ona lot to make it look like a Diesel power producing engine. Let me know please........it's a little bit higher than a regular Sim in size. mrbquote> Hello. Sorry for not logging in since like, forever. Yes, anything will be good for me. I'm just really looking for something between a 2X1 windmill and 4X4 coal plant.
  16. the STEX DVD

I have some questions about the STEX DVD. I'm assuming that it has everyhting that's on the STEX (at some point in time) on it? If so, would not dumping that many contradictory files into one place cause problems? I'd like to get the DVD but I want to know how all of this works first
  17. the STEX DVD

oh. well that's good then. I will contact them about buying it.
  18. STEX Lots Service

Is this thread still open? I'd like to make a 2X2 deisel power station. I can edit the stats myself but the lost/building, not so sure. Alls I need is a crappy little building that could pass for "a thing which makes power". My idea was to grab the building from another lot, but as I'm not familiar with what other lots have, this has been difficult.
  19. I had this happen to be when I personally edited a power plant I downloaded from the STEX. I just improvised to fix it and it worked. What I did was delete all my power plants and run the game for 2 months (the city begged for power!) Note that my only plants were these downloaded modded ones. After the 2 months I placed the power plant back, and everything seemed to work fine.
  20. The Capital of the World!

who says the city would continue to be owned by the country it's currently in?
  21. The Capital of the World!

Jerusalem IMHO it's obvious and without a doubt - at least to me.
  22. Hello. I'm wondering how do I edit building stats? I recently downloaded some new power plants from the STEX that are close to what I want but not exact One in particular, generates too much power! I just want a teeny tiny little power plant. I very much would like to edit this myself, but I dont know how to edit these stats? What tool to I use to edit these building stats?
  23. How do I edit building stats

nevermind, I found out how! you hafta download that SC4tool in andreas roths' signature!
  24. PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING... I've decided to hit the restart button. It's been a fun week but I'm starting to see that the current path of my CJ is not in sync with what I would like it to be. I'm also starting to see stark differences between what I've done, and what I'd like to do, as well as between what I've done, and what others have done. THEREFORE... I am closing this CJ but do not fret! I will be starting a new one later this week - same map, same general idea, only this one will be better thought out, and have a more compelling story. Shaw Island will continue to live, but it will do so differently. Look for my first entry towards the end of this week. ---- Hello and welcome. I am new to making CJ’s, and I hope you enjoy this one. I’d like to start with a little introduction so that you understand what I am trying to do and why. My objective is to develop an entire region. First, into a rural community, and then to urbanize it. I will place emphasis on storyline as this continues. For example, a decision may be made to create a greenbelt – IE a limit to urban growth. My objective is realism, so don’t expect to see any “Commercial Cities” that contain nothing but one zone type. Where the story goes will depend partly on any feedback I get. If people find towns exciting, I may focus on them, etc. I will introduce personality and politics into the game, along with political parties. Don’t expect to see any mayors from the Conservative Party or governors from the Democratic Party, but it’s not impossible that the “Pro-Farm” party could make an appearance, along with the “Skyscraper” party. Shaw Island is based on Prince Edward Island. I lived there for a decade, and will use it as a ‘base’ to develop my region. That means you can, generally, expect towns to pop up in the same places as real-world towns. Which of these towns turn into cites, however, may not sync up with reality. The story (which will begin in the next post. Sorry for double-posting, but it keeps this intro post free for edits as I develop) is that some nameless country (lets call it the United States Kingdom of Canada and Australia) in our modern world has stumbled across an uninhabited island that no one knew about – a result of a joke taken way to far by mapmakers – for centuries. The decision has been made to settle the island and to let it build it’s own character. Hence, where we begin… edit - for some reason my images are not posting properly. I will include BOTH a link and an image for all my pics (except the "bonus" pictures at the end) so if you only see a link, it's because I am having trouble getting the pic to work and it will be up shortly. EDIT- this will, when I find them all, incluide all of the downloads/mods I use https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?id=14589 -> TTC buses https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?id=3348 -> GO trains https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?id=15844 -> Prince Edward Island (PEI) flag
