Originally posted by: Mikeaut1 Originally posted by: KingSimCity Being atheist is being Ignorant! Let me tell you a story, true story. There was a group of religious people and an atheist, they were hiking when John asks Tom (The Atheist) why he is atheist. He says "Because religion is fake , not posible." One min. later he falls in to a hole, yelling "God, save me, God, help!" Go figure. I'm Catholic, call me crazy. But please get a religion, I love simcity, but give 1 hour to your religion, at least your family. Simcity is a game not lifequote> I wouldn't call atheists ignorant. They believe what they want to believe. But I can see where you can find that they're ignorant. My question to all the atheists are: How can you live in this world, breathe the air you breathe, look up at the sky everyday, look at all the planets in the universe, look at the trillions of stars, look at the ocean, the earth as a whole, mountains, valleys, the human race, every other animal and life on this earth, the complexity of their bodies, and not see God? Probably, the atheists here will say "well thats an example of evolution and science." But we can't limit the creation of this earth to just science. Just as atheists draw their evidence from science, which isn't 100% entirely factual anyway, Christians draw evidence of the creation of earth through the Bible and things that require faith to believe. Athiests labelling the Bible as something that isn't evidence of God is rediculous. That is what the Bible is about anyway! The Bible is not historical fiction at all, its the truth! And if you are going to deny that it's the truth, don't label the Bible as not being factual, because a huge portion of the Bible is based on historical events that actually happened.quote> Well, I'd say MrCinatit pretty much summed your question up. It's a great post. Some athiests are more ignorant than others, but all religions have people ignoring others, wanting to believe that only their religion is true. I try to look at all of it, more than just science and Christianity, but all of the religions. I listen to what each side has to say, every side, and try to make sense out of it. I try to choose the belief that makes the most sense to me. And I chose science, mayber that's what it will stay, maybe not. I like evidence, and that side has the most. Some might say, "Well, all you need is faith," but sometimes its hard for me to put faith in a book, the Bible, or any other religious text that we don't even know the exact origin of. Coming back to evidence, if they discover Noah's Ark or the Ten Commandments I'll be a believer in an instant. And really, I want it to happen, to be able to believe in a superior being but right now I can't. Not when there's so many contradictions. That's just me. I may be Atheist/part Agnostic, but most of my friends are either Christian/Catholic/Protestant/Mormon/even Scientologist. I don't judge others on their belief; it is their personal choosing once they are old enough to think for themselves. I think that may be one misunderstanding about Atheists, that we don't like anybody that believes in a religion, but I think that mostly that is not true. We are all human beings, all with a god(s) or not, and we all have morals, morals that are just natural, but (possibly) a product of amazing natural selection that made our brains that we have today. Atheists have morals, atheists can love and like, we stare in awe and wonder at this universe, and don't take us and it (the universe) for granted. Believe it or not, science helps me awe and be amazed at this world even more; knowing how it was (probably, we don't know for sure, I'm not saying for sure there isn't a God) how it was created and how it acts and functions. Hmmm I doubt what I wrote even makes sense ...

Lord Kronos is right. It is not spyware of any kind. I'll repeat what's been said before - what might be causing problems: 1. The file is not unzipped; ALWAYS unzip any files from this site before putting them in your plugins. 2. The file is not directly under "Plugins." It can't be in a subfolder of the plugins; it must be in the root directory. 3. Lack of Rush Hour/Deluxe and updates from the official site? This hasn't exactly been made clear, but there is the udriveit cheat (self explanatory, it freezes the screen and allows you to click on any type of vehicule, except for large planes, the free drive around the city), which would recquire Rush Hour/Deluxe. Hope this helps a little . Oh, and if your worried about devastating effects these cheats might have, quickly build a test city. Buggi is MIA and probably caught up in RL, and some of the cheats seem to have no visual effects, so it would be just as hard for him to make a complete list of cheat effects as it would you. I doubt EA was nice enough to give out a whole list of meanings, or Buggi would have posted them.

Real Highway (RHW) - Development and Support
bri3d replied to qurlix's topic in NAM & Transit Networks
Well, I check this thread daily, and haven't made a comment in a while, but I have to agree with everyone, the RHW IS AWESOME!!! These look ten times better than Maxis highways and interchanges already. Collaboration with the Big Dig and the CRCP makes it even better. In other words: SC3K's Highways : SC4's Highways :: SC4's Highways : RHW, which means the RHW = What I thought I had to wait until SC5 for . About the height issue mentioned above: we must remember that the height in SC4 appears much less than it really is. When you BAT, you should put the wall of a house at 5m+, and the same thing probably applies to highways, even though they are a 3D network. Does the elevated highway in game look like it's at 49 feet above the ground? When you compare it to other buildings, no. Can you explain a little more clearly about the problem involving the RHW-2 above? It's not making sense... Keep up the good work .- 3,919 Replies

@Hotel: I'd recommend that you buy Rush Hour because much of the content on this website requires it. Find it at a local Wal-Mart or other discount store. Since it's been over three years since the release date, it is very cheap. I'll try to answer your questions to the best of my ability. 1. I believe that this can be done with the SimCity 4 Terraformer (SC4TF). However, I'm not sure if it can be run without Rush Hour/Deluxe. I'd check, though . However, raising or lowering the terrain in any way will destroy any buildings in that location. 2. Well, I don't think it's possible for completely smooth slopes, due to SC4's tile based grid system, but I think there are some smoother slope (more realistic grades) mods out there. Try looking on the STEX and in the Modds and Downloads section. 3. More effects (that's what those are called) have been made, but never officially released (other than thicker fog, I believe). Besides, they weren't animals. I, too, would like to see more animals, but there was a thread on this somwhere, and there wasn't a large enough audience for something to even be attempted. Sorry.

Thanks a billion for making the mod that fixes the ordinance window, RippleJet. I used to keep the Super Demand Mod in my plugin folder all of the time, enacting it only in certain cities, and not in my non-cheat cities. However, when I decided to remove it, the little problem mentioned above occured and it has started to annoy me . I was actually looking at city files and thinking about replacing the infected ordinance subfiles with fresh ones, but you saved me that large task (many cities were saved with this mod in the plugins folder).

Here at 1300 feet in the foothills on the west side of the Sacramento Valley it's been quite cold...23.7(F) Saturday morning after a high of only 39.7 the previous day! The ice wasn't even melting during the day! There was supposed to be snow all the way down to the valley floor last Thursday too...but the moisture wasn't there . We did get five (very rare) inches last March though...go figure. Now things are back to normal...lows in the low to mid thirties and highs in the low to mid fifties. Do I dare check the plants? EDIT: Didn't notice, Fred_Ginger went through the same cold too .

Real Highway (RHW) - Development and Support
bri3d replied to qurlix's topic in NAM & Transit Networks
Yeah! Tarkus is back. Wow, great progress on the RHW...I like the quadruple-decker. May be somewhat unrealistic, but still, useful in those tight spots... Those avenues are just amazing...this shows what can be done with RHW technology. HINT FOR INTERNET EXPLORER USERS (such as me): Try using the quote button if you want to see those PNGs .- 3,919 Replies

Thanks Andreas. I'm still amazed there are barely any errors on a project the scale of this. But about the Ped Malls, do I have to rebuild them? EDIT: I forgot to mention that I don't actually have the left-hand drive plugin. I just wanted to make sure it wouldn't be a problem with my version.

First of all I want to say thanks to the NAM Team for getting this new NAM out ; it's great. Now on to some questions...I thought the park effects of the Ped Mall Tiles were eliminated, as mentioned previously in this thread, but it says in the readme: What are Ped Mall Tiles? Ped Mall Tiles are essentially just like real Pedestrian Malls [though with some differences of course] & even have a Y.I.M.B.Y impact on immediate surroundings, reducing pollution & boosting desirability. Ped Mall Tiles allows for Commercial and Industrial development to occur/sustain, while only allowing Sims to use the Ped Mall Tiles to Walk on. In other words; no other form of transport is possible on Ped Mall Tiles, other than walking. Huh? Maybe I'm missing something. And on this topic of Ped Malls, can I keep the old ones from the previous NAM, or do I have to bulldoze them because of this removal? And all of this talk on the Avenue/Avenue intersection, what's the problem with it? Does it have to do with left-hand drive versions only? Sorry for all of these questions . Oh, and is it just me, or are the "mountain trail" puzzle pieces and the "straight" highway on/off ramps new? Just curious, since I couldn't find them in the history, and I don't remember them from before.

Real Highway (RHW) - Development and Support
bri3d replied to qurlix's topic in NAM & Transit Networks
Wait! So many people are saying that this is going to replace the Maxis highways. I hope this isn't true. However bad they look, I still like them, and the sometimes actually look good in urban areas. Plus, they are good for occasions with limited space. Add a network, not replace one! Ok, ok, I had to get that out. Wow! Amazing work, Tarkus, and a very imformative post back there; good to see status. I love the RHW-10. But what's that white on the edges? The transparent texture problem? prucedorion, that underpass is great.- 3,919 Replies

Hmm...I don't think that would be possible. However, there is always that delay when you plop a school (for example) and when it takes effect - the query won't say it has students until the building's done constructing anyway (typically ~ 1 month). On larger buildings, like the Large Medical Center, there may be patients before it's completed, but it might only be a week before.

Of course there is . Look on the back of your manual. I have them all memorized.
-
Yes, it does have a dependency - if you don't have the Modest Little House.SC4MODEL in your plugins (one of the three sample models that came with the BAT). And that dirt texture does't look like a default Maxis one. Nice first try, but try to acknowledge dependencies, and it might not be a good idea to use those Maxis models - I think almost everybody has thrown them out.

Real Highway (RHW) - Development and Support
bri3d replied to qurlix's topic in NAM & Transit Networks
Yes, I've learned a bit about modding and it would be interesting to see how qurlix did that. It would be useful, as bwatterud said, for it to appear when 4 ANT's were dragged next to each other. 4-lane One-Way roads? Is that what your implying? Would be useful and realistic in big cities. Could be interesting where this could go.- 3,919 Replies

Simply amazing. Can't wait for elevated RHW, and at least it's not "festive" anymore. And I love the two lane RHW; it's like having a country road in game, or even making two networks out of one.- 3,919 Replies

bri3d replied to qurlix's topic in NAM & Transit Networks
I really like the idea of interchange puzzle pieces...there would be so much variety possible. Glad to see this project move along even more. LOL, the Maxis highways should be called FHWs...Fake Highways, I mean, I've never seen a highway like them. Almost as unrealistic as SC3k Unlimited's.- 3,919 Replies

Real Highway (RHW) - Development and Support
bri3d replied to qurlix's topic in NAM & Transit Networks
Wow, great job on the new road texture! I'll be glad when it comes out because the RHWs look bad when they revert to default ANT textures. What I meant earlier on when I said projects were "dead" were lots of little projects like the Urban Brick Roads (well, it seems) and the Turbine Interchange. I know the NAM isn't dead, in fact I read Andreas Roth's post a couple days ago . And I think SimMars is having a little comeback. Didn't mean to start a whole argument, now back on topic...- 3,919 Replies

Wow! Great job. I'm glad this project has kept going so long, and not died like the others. This highway is a lot more realistic than Maxis ones.- 3,919 Replies

First of all, I think the NAM team is doing a great job - no pressure on next release (although it would be nice if the showcase was up and running again ). And I hate to request anything, but would it be possible to make a rail loop puzzle piece, like the GLR one? It takes up a lot of space to make a loop currently, and I hate during U-Drive-It missions (only evil ones, of course - they give you money ) how the train dissapears when you get to the end of the track. If you think its too much work, I can live without it - keep up the good work!

@ A.D. : I made a mod that forces all civic buildings to construct, and utilities are on the way. There is a link to it in my sig. I would reccomend tracking the file, as there is an update coming soon (adds cranes). About the roads, this is possible, although I would have to search around to find the right exemplar again. Now about the fact that buildings are immediatly demolished. What you mentioned would be extremely hard to do, if not impossible (coded into .exe). This would be realistic, but could get a little annoying waiting for buildings to come down. LOL...its the total opposite of what you thought, but I can't blame you. It's a complicated game and I would have probably thought the same thing too when I first joined the site.
