We really, really badly need suburban townhome complexes. Not the dense type you see near the heart of suburban centres, but the type that'll exist even some distance from a transit stop. I'm talking about the type that'll centre around their own little cul-de-sac that isn't general public access. Here's a Google Maps image to give some idea what I mean.

There are very few interchange stations with that sort of understated dynamic, it's exactly what I could use on the western frince of the CBD from the shot I posted. By all means take your time with it though... It's looking very good, but I'd hate for it to be rushed out before it's ready.

Yep, I still use rail, quite extensively actually. This is a teaser shot of my latest atttempt at a region. Currently the region's population is at 120,000. Most of the black lines are ground rail (some is elevated rail). You can't see it, but there's also quite a bit of subway trackage, including an underground loop which I've provided connections to using the NDEX transitions. Apologies for the low quality...

It's taken me about a week, but I'm FINALLY finished filling the region with trees... Some of you may recognise the region as my Hobart map (which can be downloaded on the STEX). I am tossing and turning over whether I'm going to do a CJ based on this region... Give me a moment and I'll link a full-sized image... It's a pretty big region. EDIT: Perfect, it looks like the ImageShack server has crashed just when I wanted to upload an image.

That looks so real it's not funny.

I really like the way the reflection looks on this one. I'm not normally a fan of intricate reflections, but I think it works well here.

On Transit-enabling: the easiest way to do it is using SC4Tool - with that it's literally drag and drop. You can do just about any other type of modding with that tool as well. You look to be getting the hang of texturing, too. Great work for a first project.

Work fast, Somy! And keep doin' a FANTASTIC JOB!!! quote> Yeah, we badly need a good one of those... The Maxis one isn't crash hot... -

Excellent work. The modelling is exquisite. I'm not sure the green is the best colour for the nightlighting, but it hardly looks bad and it will give some variety to the streetscape. A well made BAT. I agree with those who have said to do something with the side, though. That would be one minor improvement you could make.

dmscopio: wow. Just... Wow. I agree with Tonks though that it might look better with a darker blue (somewhere in between what's there currently and "Ill Tonkso blue" would, I think, suit nicely. Also, ditch the reflections. They don't suit the building at all. Perhaps a few clouds (I know you wouldn't see that in this view IRL, but it does look better in game) would be ideal. Not too many though, or it'll get too busy. In addition, I think going with a paler, more consistent nightlight colour for the windows would be ideal. Also, if it's possible to strengthen the lights outlining the building, do so. Don't overdo it, but strengthening it a smidgin would I think do the building wonders. Don't change anything on the base though - it's perfect! -

I'll take a look and see if the USGS data's any good for the area. In the meantime, rough Lat/long coords wouldn't hurt (and would speed me up). Tasmania must be an awesome place to live. It looks interesting on a map. The Hobart terrain was a wonderful sight to behold when it was all rendered.
