How many ST forum members does it take to change a light bulb?
DITRO replied to golfbunny's topic in Simtropolis Related
1 to run into the dark room with a new bulb after hearing the pandemonium inside. 1 other member to shut and the door complaining that the light from outside is hurting his eyes. 100 to yell at and tackle the guy who shut the door, only they cannot find him and instead take down the one who was carrying the replacement bulb, which shatters. GLASS!! I hope you all have your shoes on. hehe.... -
Don't know if this thread is too old to bump up, but I've had riots in the game. You need to send in the police who form a line of SWAT officers as you call in units to surround the rioters. You also may need to call in the fire dept. to put out fires that the rioters start. Just thought I'd out that out there.

I don't think there is, but if you want to free up roads for commuters, try to run rail lines along your industrial zones. I find that works better than freight stations because the industries have direct access to the railroad. Hope this helps.

Thanks. I like the mix of the old and the new in your city, and that little office park across the river.

ummm... does anyone at least know what I am talking about, or have I lost it?

Try to connect at a different area on that border, or connect from the other city first.

Hotdogs: I want to live there! MCO: What is the name of that powerplant at the right of your picture? At the bottom is a pic of some new development in an old neighborhood.

Originally posted by: Shlarin I use it for my regional inter-city transport (similar to the Los Angeles Metrolink, Paris RER, or German S-Bahns) since it's the fastest transit option (but also most expensive) to connect faraway commuters. quote> I agree. A lot of people think it is a substitute for el-rail but, it serves as more of a commuter rail network between suburbs and cities.

Franklin County - 12th Anniversary Update, All-Nighttime Shots of New Riverside Downtown
DITRO replied to Patricius Maximus's topic in SC4 City Journals
interesting to see how much this cj has grown. You just never run out of ideas! -
I first got SC2000 Deluxe back in '97, i think. I liked all the different tile sets and the arcos and that you could blow up a train by demolishing the bridge it was on! I also liked messing with the crazy transportation advisor ("YOU CAN'T CUT BACK ON FUNDING! YOU WILL REGRET THIS!"). Then I got SC 3000 a few years later. I loved uploading my cities from SC2000 and playing them with the enhanced graphics. I couldn't wait to get SC4 because I could build on hills, and discovering this site was the icing on the cake.

Place more parks and rec. Maybe its a cap relief problem. I don't know if the underutilized Opera house means that it isn't - could someone confirm this? Anyway, some of the custom content here, like Simgoober's public pools, can help with cap relief.

If you think about it, Sim City 5 would be the next logical step for Will Wright after he is finished with Spore. Since the Sims 3 is coming out we know he won't be going back to that for a while, so Sim City s most likely where he will brainstorm and direct his energy, and hopefully EA will let him. I'm think, like other people, that SCS was just a spin off and Sim City 5 will come out around 2011. So for the time being I'm content with Sim City 4 as a dedicated Maxis (or whatever's left of it) fan. I'll have to listen to others' reviews of CitiesXL before I consider buying it.

yes and Will Wright must develop it. Only Maxis knows how to do these games right

Here it is. SWAT-MEDIC posted it in the STEX forum. The thread is called STEX Searching - URL Manipulation. It's copied below. --------------------------------------------- Hello! In this small article I will demonstrate a small technique for searching the STEX when the search box is broken or down. There is a url that can be used to enter a search query to display items on the STEX related to the terms given in the query. An example below: https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?page=1&Keyword='>https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?page=1&Keyword=SearchTermsHere&view=all The search terms are in bold. This is what you replace with what you are searching for. An example search might be: https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?page=1&Keyword='>https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?page=1&Keyword=canals&view=all It also appears to work for the Modds & Download section (I've had that not function occasionally.) by replacing 'stex' with 'modding'... https://www.simtropolis.com/modding/index.cfm?page=1&Keyword=SearchTermsHere&view=all

I don't think you need an actual connection for the car and passenger terminal. But even if you have a road going past it, you can just drag a road onto each of the two driveways that are part of the terminal, thus creating two intersections.

sqiddster: That same thing has happened to me. Do they commute to another city or are Sims from another city taking available jobs? Maybe the the business areas increased in wealth and have been employing higher-wealth Sims? These are possible causes.

I love it when the rioters start jumping on the hoods of cars and flipping them over! Also I saw that if you don't fund the police well you will see them fall to the ground as they try to fight. As a side note, I wish there was a flood disaster like in SC2000. That would be amazing.

For landmarks, just search "Chicago" on the Exchange right here at Simtropolis. You'll get a whole bunch of buildings to download. Make sure to unzip them into the My Documents/Simcity4/Plugins folder, and run any installer programs included. Some buildings also have dependency files that you will have to download to see all the textures and props and ensure proper functionality, which you can download here and at sc4devotion.com, another great fansite. Welcome and have fun.

silverwood: Do you have jobs in the island city that offer a faster commute than across the bay? That might be why nobody went back to the industrial city. Also, do you mean that 200 people get off the ferry into the island city or get on but don't go anywhere (I wasn't sure what you meant by "come off")? What ferry routes does the route query show? Sometimes the game designs ferry routes that go nowhere. dedwards2000: people will only use ferries to commute to work, not to visit landmarks

Could someone make a modd that turns the default passenger train into the GE Genesis locomotive and Shoreliner Cars from Metro-North Railroad? It is a commuter railroad that runs in the counties north of New York City and into Conneticut. Here are some pictures: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:2007_new_Metro-North_GE_Genesis_paint_scheme.jpg - in one picture you see the word "Metropolitan," Which is part of "Metropolitan Transportation Authority" This phrase was dropped on the newer paint scheme, which also features a darker stripe. The car with the red stripe is part of the New Haven Line, which is jointly operated with the Conneticut Department of Transportation. The engines on The New Haven Line have a different paint scheme, and traditionally the red and blue cars are not mixed, with the red staying on the New Haven Line and the blue cars staying with the engines I picured above. Hopefully someone will take this project on. If anyone has any questions regarding specifics, you can PM me. Thanks. EDIT: I can't get the links to work, so I attached the pics as JPG files. You might have to copy and paste that wikipedia link into your address bar.

SCS is the mess that occurs when you change developers and take Maxis away from what put it on the map, so to speak.
