You could try the fused grid system, and combine the best of both worlds! http://www.fusedgrid.ca/ http://img187.imageshack.us/img187/3423/strattonhallaug12728120xo3.jpg

Updated with flora, props and base texture to match university! This is my first upload to the STEX. When I realized that I don't have the time to BAT, I decided to work with the Lot Editor. This building is the "Science Building" that is a part of the Maxis University. I created it as an expansion piece that would keep the same style as the other buildings. It functions as an "Open Grass Area," so it does not draw any students from the university itself, but still adds a positive desirability effect to the surrounding area. It can be found in the parks menu. Now, I know that people might rate it low because it is not a BAT, but I ask you not to do that. Please just rate it for what it is. Enjoy! TIP: The front of the building faces away from the arrow when you plop it, so I suggest that you use the HOME and END keys to rotate it. -
You don't need to reconcile the edges. I have had connections on uneven borders. But you might as well reconcile them just to make the borders look natural - it could just be a minor thing.

I have had the same problem, but like Xyloxadoria said, when it gets to those four tiles it will take a long time, but it will eventually decompose, as it did in my game. Apparently that mod will speed it up, so give it a try. In the meantime, if it is negatively affecting desirability in an area, put a two- or three-tile wide border of grass plots from the park menu around it and development should come.

@jumpthefence: that Phantom Car is pretty cool I had my own experience in UDI. I was driving behind a flatbed and these just slid right off: Sure hope nobody was in them.

*sigh* good times...... Nice job guys. I'd post mine but I think they are long lost. But sometimes its fun just to back and play the old versions. @toki.s what tile set is that?

lookin good. Would you upload a pic of the entire city? Just so I can get my bearings -
If there is a meteor disaster, it should have a VERY large impact zone, not like these tiny craters in the game

An overview and some detail shots. Still a beginner looking for help to make my cities stand out.

lol yea I see what you mean. Well it could always make a good suburb. -
I decided to back up my plugins folder on a CD-RW. So I highlight "Plugins", hit copy, then paste it on the disk (which has enough room). But, a message pops up on many of the files saying that they have information attached that may be lost if I continue copying. The title of the message box is "Confirm Stream Loss." Is this something to worry about, or should I ignore it? Has it happened to anyone?

Looks good, better than when I started out. For that area by the retaining wall I would zone some more commercial. If you want yor city to stand out, start developing a medium/high density downtown so you can get a nice skyline. Maybe you can have an historic district of old buildings. You know, you can make custom beach areas. If you hold down ctrl+alt+shift while clicking on the god button in mayor mode, you get all the god mode tools in their full power (at no cost!). You can change the size of the effect areas by holding down shift+[any number 1 thru 9], where 1 is the smallest and 9 is the largest coverage. The coverage also depends on the zoom, so 2 at a close zoom level is a lot smaller than 2 at a farther-out zoom. Also, I like to keep the "G" key down while I terraform, so I use the yellow squares as a guide to make straight coastlines. Remember, Sim City loves to crash, so save, save, save. Good luck and have fun! -

Great story. You have awesome creative talent. Pretty sad life when the only one who appreciates you is the lunch lady.

Try the fused grid. It creates small neighborhoods with very little traffic congestion. Here's a link to a site dedicated to it, which I use as a reference tool: http://www.fusedgrid.ca/ Good luck!
