I think many of you are forgetting that this is SIM city, not photorealistic city. They arleady dded alot of features I wanted to see after the release of SC4. Coal as a resource for one. But wether it looks cartoony or not... they want to make it look like a city that you made in a pertidish and looking at with a microscope. That is the idea behind the game in general and they got that done prettywell.

i'd love to see more use of textures tho, this is a bit TOO cartoony

For those trolls who complain about "cartoon look": A photorealistic Simcity will be extremely expensive and require even more expensive software and hardware. The result? More complains for high prices and demands! And you're talking about a game that it's still under development and it will be for the next 8 months. You guys make me sick.

If you don't like something, no matter what, go away and don't look back. Trolling is not recommend ;)

I completely agree with Terring. Although the game could still use some work, and there are some generally unrealistic aspects (such as the airport or the messed up highway textures), this new simcity can still go far with the SUPPORT of the modding community.

Also, Terring, I believe your use of "troll" is incorrect. :P

Looks good so far. Pretty confident there will be a lot more polishing to happen. Don't know if Feb 2013 is set in stone. Has anyone said it is?

Maxis aren't stoopid to release an underpar game; people, this is not SC4 and is not intended to be, so enough of the silly negativity already. It makes us all look rather childish and petulant - which for the more 'mature' <ahem> gamers amongst us, is not a cool look. Defo going to book a day or two off work to play this bad boy...

If you break down the video, its obvious that this is not even close to the final product that will ship in February:

Roads not complete, look at :17 where the cars are all over the road. Someone complained about too much space between buildings. At :20 you see a car driving on grass - shows they obviously haven't finished putting in driveways and other ground textures in yet. Look at :41, the way the highway just goes into the airport - you really think that maxis would ship a game like that?

Why they went ahead and debuted a trailer with so much left unfinished is suprising, but I wouldn't worry folks - there is still a lot to be done here and its clear the roads, buildings, and textures are still very much in development.

They do stil have a half a year to work on the graphics, and fix up connections. It think graphically, when they came out with the GlassBox presentation, progress is being made. This is like an RPG, or other games. Graphics will come as they are integrated and the seams pressed out with the simulation engine.

I gotta be honest I really liked the trailer. There is obviously some polishing to do regarding textures for example. But honestly I am more interested about game play.

Well it looks like I might have to agree with some of the other posters here - this looks almost as cartoony as SC Societies. I sincerely hope they intend to clean up the graphics so they look more realistic before the game is released, otherwise I'll stick with SC4 thanks.

I was really just hoping for SC4 but with better graphics and a few gameplay enhancements, but it looks like Maxis is content on creating more childish games that are no challenge or fun for anyone over 12.

"No challenge"? Do you know how the game will exactly play out? Or are you basing your assumptions simply on graphics?

It is a bit of an assumption but it really does look like it will be a child's game at this point. Hope I'm wrong but we'll see.

There is no sense in trying to persuade haters.

I think haters is a bit harsh... I'd say cautionary ... fooled me once SCS shame on you... fool me twice Cities XL, 2011 shame on me... I actually like CXL2012. Deep down, we all want this to be a smash hit..
