About this City Journal

finally got to upgrading my gaming system (from a basic laptop) after all the drama with pricy PC parts over the last couple years. The first order of business was downloading the city builders from my steam that I'd already purchased - including Cities: Skylines!!! I've been dreaming of this for years.

Introducing my first CS city: Premeria. Naming is a bit obvious as it's my first C:S city. Since the vanilla game has european high density buildings for some reason, I decided to go with a German/Northern European heritage for this city. Hence its coat of arms:

Entry 6: Terraforming

Hello everyone, it's a wonderful day in Primiera. Primiera's map is a changing. I've downloaded the 25 tiles mod as well as taken on some landscaping projects to extend Primiera's buildable area. The first step is to extend some land on the bottom of the cliff near the south side. This was pretty convenient because I used some soil from the top of the hill - which flattened the hill. Here is the progression of the aptly named Cliffbottom The development includes a subway line with 2 stops. The green space...

Hello! A while back I downloaded the free match day DLC and decided to build my meager stadium district. The district has a subway connection and a dedicated bus line and includes some shops and offices in the complex. Also... Premiera is on YouTube!! You can view this episode here Without further ado, here are the pics: Plopped down the Statue of Wealth in the stadium district. The bridge you see below is a link to another housing development. Leaving after a game Not a bad record, and didn't...

Hello everyone, For this session of C:S, I decided to open up some new districts. I opened up my max city tiles without mods at 9 so this is where we're at. The latest tile opened up happens to be its own little beach (circled in blue below.) I named this district Seaside, gave it a rail, ferry, local bus line and 2 road connections as well as its own CBD. I downloaded some modern condo assets from the workshop and made it its own district style. I basically wanted it to resemble Miami or something. ...

Wishing everyone a pleasant New Year's Eve/Day! Meant to post this up earlier in December but didn't get around to it. Anyways, I got around to learning how to add stuff from Steam Workshop and downloaded some more modern district styles. The only problem is when I apply only one style to districts, the other styles pop up as well. It's quite frustrating as I wanted to keep the sea port area more an old town feel. But either way, we now have skyscrapers around Premiera and more modern buildings in...

Welcome everyone! Here are a couple overviews of my city so far: Last 2 nights consecutively I stayed up playing C:S until about 4 AM. Last night I expanded to my second tile. I continued with high density. In the south there was an empty lot that was naturally bumpy so I decided to spruce it up to a park. Here is a before and after: Tried to make a green urban oasis. I then made another loop on the metro. This included making a branch on the elevated section bisecting this district That's all for...

Entry 1: Starting Off

Starting my little city off: I started with mostly gravel roads since it's cheaper. I loved the graphics so far - they weren't as cartoonish as I'd expected. About halfway down I decided to make a 4 lane meridian road. Now it's time for some higher density: To the south is a coast line, I decided to focus the higher density there for a historic coastline feel. Now time for some more expansion: By the way, you can see the elevated metro line if you look closely. I should've waited until after...
