New York City - 2025

The iconic skyline of New York City has been constantly changing over the years - and today, we'll be taking a glimpse into the future to see some of the city's impressive upcoming developments. By 2025, many key projects and towers are set to open, dramatically changing the look of this iconic skyline for years to come.

One of the first new developments was the set of ultra-luxury super tall skyscrapers constructed along Central Park's southern edge, dubbed "Billionaire's Row." Foreign investment in recent years has poured money into the area, leading to a building boom - and the 1,550 ft tall Central Park Tower and 1,438 ft tall Steinway Tower are set to join a number of other recently completed supertalls. Not only will they rank among the world's tallest buildings, but the most expensive as well.

The World Trade Center complex will continue to rise as well in upcoming years, with the 1,358 foot tall Two World Trade Center set to open in 2022.

Another one of the city's largest and most ambitious projects is the Hudson Yards complex in West Midtown. Construction initially started in 2012 and isn't expected to be fully completed until 2036, but by 2025 many of the key towers will be completed, dramatically changing the look of New York's skyline from the Hudson River.

Recently revised zoning regulations in East Midtown has led to a number of new supertalls popping up in recent years like the 1,301 foot tall One Vanderbilt - set to open in 2020.

By 2025, the 1,400 foot tall 270 Park Avenue tower will dramatically rise over East Midtown thanks to these new zoning regulations - and with even more towers likely on the way, the iconic skyline of New York City will only continue to rise.

@EvansRE4 Yeah, I'd probably have to agree - that original design was pretty cool. Although, I have to admit the new one is growing on me a bit.. *;)

@Androgeos If the current trends keep up, maybe they'll have to.. *:P

I still prefer the orginal design because the diamond roof was slanted towards the memorial and I believe that a beam of light was supposed to rise from the center. It was also designed as to not cast a shadow on the memorial.

Just... wow. Korver, this is unbelievable. I don't know how you continue to churn out this level of work. Thank you!

@EvansRE4 Thanks for the info - wasn't even aware of that. It's a shame they couldn't find a way to incorporate some of those features into the final version.

@bladeberkman Appreciate the kind comment! I've been working on this one for a while *;)

Your work in this entry is really good. But the actual buildings you show like 432 Avenue, that super-tall cuboid skyscraper, is too thin!

Another nice on Korver,  I like how you show some of the buildings are still under construction.  NICE!

Great job again! Although your work is wonderful as always, I'm afraid all these new buildings being constructed in real life in NYC are making the city skyline so ugly...as if the city is losing its essence >.<

Beautiful work as always and really great job with all the custom BAT's you made for this update!

I'm not a fan of supertall buildings in RL since I think they changed/ changing the character of the skyline a little too dramatically too quickly but they don't look that bad plopped down in the context of SimCity.  One57 and 432 Park Avenue are growing on me but I think it's going to be years till I get used to all the others going up- especially since they tower over the ESB and Chrysler Building.

Didn't know BTW there was a (proposed) supertall that might go up on Fifth Avenue and 62nd across from the Pierre Hotel... currently there a residential condo and the Knickerbocker Club on that block. Hope they don't tear that down.

@The British Sausage At first I wasn't a huge fan of a few of the new skyscrapers, but they have grown on me a little. I think they'll probably look a bit better over time once a few others join them.

@PaPa-J Glad you enjoyed the update *:)

@JP Schriefer Thank you for the comment! On one hand I like the futuristic look of some of the new towers.. but on the other hand I do agree it could harm the city's essence like you said. I hope they'll keep things in moderation and not go too overboard.

@RobertLM78 I definitely couldn't leave it out *:thumb:

@Hanson784 Thank you for the nice words! I wasn't a particularly big fan at first, but a few have started to grow on me. I agree they don't look too bad atleast in the context of SC4, but then again that could be the game's perspective playing a role in making them look less imposing - it will be really interesting to see them once fully completed and the sort of effect it will have on the skyline in RL.

It is an authentic wonder! I'm really amazed with the assembly of the city. I would love for you to be able to climb the skyscrapers that appear in your photographs.

One57, 1 Vanderbilt, Central Park tower etc etc ... I would really love it!

@Tropolion It's a custom BAT, but I'm still working on perfecting the glass.

@mrsmartman It's hard to beat NY's skyline *:thumb: It's going to be really intriguing to see how all these new buildings fit in!

@ESP15 The Lincoln Building and Grand Central were custom made BATs but are in a WIP state unfortunately.
