Off to a good start with the downtown.  I like the diagonal buildings.  A thought for diagonal parks and paths come to mind here;

I use these in a lot of areas around my region.  Maybe you can find a use for them.  They're all really nice!  There's also a really great set of filler parks for NAM curves on the STEX by @murimk.  A couple of them are diagonal (45 degree) but the others fit beautifully on wide angle curves.  They're here if you're interested;

These are the ones I use but you can put a shout out here and I'm certain you will get a lot of great suggestions from peeps across the site.

 

Diagonals, there so many ! Glenni, Prepo, Xannepan, Odd from Sweden, , multi angled one´s, FAR and Orthoginal with diagonal buildings (not trully a diagonal) on it and roundabout shaped like the budapest corner. Still searching for some showed in CJ, yet most modern come in individual or in a orthoginal and diagonal variety, plugin directory now is practicly full of I have to focus on more orthoginal corner buildings and more suting non paris or eastern europe orthoginal lots. Youtube video may help to add some, high speed can be reduced still, well done !

Nice work on the downtown area!  Downtown is the centerpiece of most towns I've been to, even if all of the shiny new things are on the edges of towns.  The diagonal district adds a nice touch.

Ln X wrote a helpful tutorial on diagonals which includes a lot of links to nice diagonal goodies, including the diagonal fillers by SFBT (offsite link), MGB, and T Wrecks (I-D, I-M, and I-HT).  Those might help you fill in some parks as well as industrial areas, although i find that the concrete works nicely in commercial or even medium-to-high density residential zones as well.
