New Year....New Update!

Belfastsocrates

I've been finishing off a residential area close to the University of Passau and the logistics area shown previously. I've also been working on other areas but they'll be shown later in the month :)

I haven't really shown much residential development before so I'm hoping this satisfies, I'm open to constructive comments as well.

This area of the large tile will be further developed with more residential and it'll border a large regional hospital which I'm lotting various things for and a modern GLR depot, which will utilise MGB's new depot building.

Nice bats. The school (pict.7-8-12-13 ; it's a school, right ?:-) is impressive. I like the pedestrian overpass, and the last picture, especially (although I could do without Maxis sunset:-))), But the whole thing looks a bit too... clean (?) for my taste ; it's a bit... impersonal ; Like, it's a brand new urban development, everything has been built at the same time -- no history. Can't put my finger on it, exactly, sorry.

Yeah it's a school, it's a mix of 4 different schools and some of my own lots as fillers.

I know what you mean about it looking 'clean' but that's my playing style and the style of Perseus, we don't have much grungy areas as urban beautification has been in place for decades. There are poorer areas, this not being one of them, and those will be shown this year, but Perseus is never really going to be 'dirty'. Perseus isn't meant to be realistic, it's an idealised view of urbanism and living.

Looks great! I really like what you did with sticking similar/same BATs together in some pictures to make what looks like a larger structure or complex.

By the way, do you know where you got that smaller Japanese school? I already have the really big one that has the multicolored roofs. but I don't think I have the one next to it that has the open swimming pool.

I didn't mean I wanted grungy-dirty -- my own style is not that either, although I admire realistic CJs. Darn, I don't exactly know what I mean ! perhaps not enough detached houses, too many small and medium blocks ? A bit of W2W here and there would perhaps give a sense of development in time, (it's what I meant when I said " history" : this neighbourhood feels like it sprung all made, with spaces et al., just a bit too planned... jA bit of fantasy, of whimsy in the planning, something just a liiiitle bit less idealized:-)  would go a long way (for me at least !:-)))

Ah! I see what you mean now. Well this small area is relatively new development, it was previously industrial land. There's lots of W2W and other types of residential to see in Passau, this is a very small part of one large tile in a city which covers 6 large tiles.

I'll post an overview of this particular city tile in a few weeks to show progress.

“new development... it was previously industrial land” : then it's exactly how it should be, and I crawl back into the woodwork !:-)

The Tesco, and you being Belfastsocrates makes me think of a Tesco I used to go to when I lived in Newtonbreda. That was a fancy Tesco Extra one though, sort of on stilts with a car park below. I have the Tesco BAT and I'm always a bit sad the store is a little on the small side :)

It occurs to me that this CJ entry was much better than the comment I've left on it.

Yes I know it! How uncanny, small world

I would love to have larger versions of UK supermarkets and more UK content in general, it's something we're missing.

Yeah, this is pretty great right here. I like that you've got a pedestrian bridge almost over top of your pedestrian bridge. It's like putting bacon on a pizza.

I totally agree.. we seem to be having a shortage of UK content lately.. Though I did see for example: http://community.simtropolis.com/files/file/30880-warwick-square/ might wanna check it out!

In regards of the update.. it looks pretty good! I like the whole UK ambient, I hope to see more!
