Ionica - Moonlight Cruising

1gtu.jpg

Ionica is a waterfront city and when the weather is right you can always find many of it's citizens in, on, or by the water. August is a special in Ionica because it is the Nautical Festival month where events like rowing, sailing, paddling, and yachting take place all around the city. It is at this time of the year, when it is a bit cooler, and the breeze a bit stronger, that Ionicans like to stay out on the water late into the night and early hours of the morning.

The canal that crosses through Sagittarius goes through 12 other Zones and can take you all the way around the city. However certain areas are restricted to certain sizes of vehicles. The speed limit is also very low and there are heavy fines for violating those limits. They are strictly for leisure.

The cruise ship and ferry port in Avalon is an access point to nearly every corner of the city.

Even though the water is considered quite clean (not suitable for human consumption) in the canals, people are forbidden from swimming. This is simply due to the fact that some parts of the canal can be very narrow and other boats can pose risks to swimmers.

Every citizen with a motorized marine vehicle must have a separate license to use it in the canals. This requires them to know the safety regulations when navigating through them. Speed regulations are highly enforced during Nautical Month because there is much more traffic on the water, even at night (in certain areas).

The canal in Pater (the Blitzball Zone) isn't connected to any other canals. It simply cuts across Pater and Walden II. The canal also preserves the stream that was once in it's place.

Until construction finishes and more ports are open in Veritas again, the best place to be during the Nautical Festival is Pater where the Blitzball stadium floats in the middle of an octagon that opens up to the sea. Every August the hotels, waterfronts, and ports, welcome hundreds of thousands of people from Ionica and around the Sim world.

Terring: Very beautiful, I like the layout of the buildings :D

Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it.

KonstantinII: Gotta love those suburbs.

Seemed like everyone else was having fun with suburbs, so I decided it was my turn. Thanks.

Hazani Pratama: nice city!

Thanks for following along so far Hazani

spursrule14:

botblogosmalltransparen.pngThanks!

sri2: 10th pic down :P Find the brown box. And excellent choice of buildings on the diagonal roads. Love it!

Good eye. Glad you enjoyed that arrangement of those buildings. i wasn't sure how it was going to turn out and I actually forgot a specific element I meant to include.

RepublicMaster: I see it. :P Nice city! I like that suburban high street! :D

Sweet. Thanks.

Lord Branham: As always, a splendid job! I just stare in aw at your magnificent parks and use of water! Once again marvelous work and looking forward to you next post!

Really happy you enjoyed it so much. I'll keep pushing myself in the hope of meeting your expectations.

SimCoug: Is that like a SC4 version of 'Where's Waldo'? Great images - the diagonal streets with those repetitious apartment buildings gives a very futuristic feeling.

It could be. The brown box of course wasn't intentional, so i decided to turn it into a bit of a game to avoid having someone nitpick it. Thanks.

tankmank: Can't believe i've never seen this CJ before. It is a great mix of different buildings that i would never have thought would go together. Great work, i can't wait to see more

Hey tankmank. Thanks for taking the time to look back on my CJ. Good time to start following because I'm in the middle of some major construction right now. Gonna take some time to complete, but it will hopefully blow away some of the stuff I've already done.

Amazing once again, love the use of the canals in your city, it breaks up the urban expanse and skyscrapers. One suggestion would be to download a different train for your railway, i think it would look a lot better

That 2nd to last picture, with the curving RHW and SimPeg Parks (IIRC) doesn't even look like SC4 any more - it looks way more amazing.
