Hey, just dropped by to see where you guys'll be playing hockey. Looking good!

Though now that I think about it, the SHL is probably going to have to subsidize the travel costs for some of the teams to get out there. You know how expensive space travel is these days. 21.gif

Very interesting, I like the new stadium and the pictures of the new planets. I also wonder what that one planet has on it, if it really is aliens, or something else.

    September, Year 14

    HAB-2
    hspace=0http://img294.imageshack.us/img294/8472/myonseptember1403ak.jpg align=baseline border=0>
    Another habitable planet has been found on the other side of the solar system, with large amounts of water and several large landmasses. There seems to be some sort of civilization here, due to large amounts of activity in the area that is clearly unnatural.

    ROK-2
    hspace=0http://img294.imageshack.us/img294/6875/myonseptember1413fq.jpg align=baseline border=0>
    A rocky planet with a strange atmosphere was also found, and this planet has a small, reddish moon, the first moon seen in the solar system. There seems to be large amounts of dust in the atmosphere, making it not a place to want to be at.

    HUH-1
    hspace=0http://img294.imageshack.us/img294/287/myonseptember1428mk.jpg align=baseline border=0>
    Near the rocky planet is a dark green planet, which seems to have a breathable atmosphere, but no water at all on the ground, just a small amount in the atmosphere. How it got this way is unknown.

    ROK-3
    hspace=0http://img294.imageshack.us/img294/7042/myonseptember1431xv.jpg align=baseline border=0>
    Close to the sun an airless rock was found, with a strange, striped pattern. So far this is the closest planet to the sun, and it is also the hottest.

    DSS has found a source of another odd signal coming from a direction away from Stella Nueva and Beta Eurenda. The signal was first found near the middle of the habitable zone of a nearby star, where there could be another habitable planet, and another civilization. So far there are no plans on sending a probe to this system because it is even farther away, and the space program is concentrating on DSS right now.

    The situation at Uptasaunt is not improving, and the city and the nearby areas continue to stay in secrecy and also seem to be in a high alert status.

    HAB-3
    hspace=0http://img220.imageshack.us/img220/5135/myonnovember1405yy.jpg align=baseline border=0>
    Another habitable planet has been discovered, and this one seems to also have a civilization on it. It seems like there is either one civilization that has already figured out how to move people between the planets, or there are 3 separate civilizations in the solar system.

    GAS-2
    hspace=0http://img220.imageshack.us/img220/9381/myonnovember1417if.jpg align=baseline border=0>
    In the far corner of the solar system a blue gas planet was found, making it the 2nd largest planet in the solar system. It seems to have a strangely high water content, but that will be for the miniprobes to confirm or deny.

    hspace=0http://img220.imageshack.us/img220/3161/myonnovember1429xs.jpg align=baseline border=0>
    As DSS enters the other solar system, this picture has been taken showing all of the planets seen.

    hspace=0http://img220.imageshack.us/img220/3720/myonnovember1431zu.jpg align=baseline border=0>
    All the planets in the system have been given a temporary name to make study easier, and here you can see the map of the solar system from a different angle. The green line is the path DSS will take as it approaches Stella Nueva, before going into orbit around Stella Nueva. The smaller white lines are the paths the miniprobes will take to get to the planets. DSS Miniprobe 1, headed for HAB-1, has just been launched, and DSS Miniprobes 2 and 3 will be launched soon to go to ROK-1 and ROK-3.

    Check back to the last 2 updates to see the temporary names of those planets.

    January, Year 15

    To start off the new year, these pictures were taken from the miniprobes launched in the Stella Nueva system.

    hspace=0http://img54.imageshack.us/img54/8356/myonjanuary1528uc.jpg align=baseline border=0>
    DSS Miniprobe 1 plowed into HAB-1's atmosphere at a high speed, creating a long trail of ionized gas that could easily be picked up by DSS's main scanners. As the miniprobe slowed down and dropped lower, it passed over a seemingly endless ocean, but just before it landed, it was able to take this picture of an island. The probe then hit the water at around 200MPH, causing it to flip over before coming to a stop. The control systems were destroyed, but the homing beacon continued to operate, and it was seen that the probe began to move again for several miles before the signal disappeared. Atmospheric content: 25% oxygen, 74% nitrogen, 1% other with a pressure at 0.98 Earth atmospheres.

    hspace=0http://img54.imageshack.us/img54/2122/myonjanuary1535es.jpg align=baseline border=0>
    around the strangely-shaped planet, and as it came in, it took this picture of one of the many canyons on the surface. The probe soon plowed into the other wall of this canyon at tremendous speeds, totally destroying the probe. The impact raised a large cloud of the reddish dust, and also seems to have opened up a cave in the object. The force of the impact seems to have changed the objects orbit somewhat, and is now moving in a slightly different direction. Atmospheric content: 95% dust, 5% hydrogen, at a pressure of 0.005 Earth atmospheres

    hspace=0http://img54.imageshack.us/img54/6258/myonjanuary1545ps.jpg align=baseline border=0>
    d along the ground for some distance before coming to a stop in several pieces in the bottom of a valley. This planet is made of hard rocks or varying compositions, unlike the rocks on ROK-1 which are all about the same and very porous. No atmosphere detected.

    hspace=0http://img54.imageshack.us/img54/7471/myonjanuary1500go.jpg align=baseline border=0>
    A little closer to home, this picture was taken of a tropical island in the equatorial region of Myon. The island seems to be an old volcano that blew up a long time ago, and is now overgrown with palm trees.

    hspace=0http://img54.imageshack.us/img54/7523/myonjanuary1512lf.jpg align=baseline border=0>
    A closer picture of the south island shows that the rare Myonian palms are not quite so rare after all. The area around this island and to the north of here has been selected as the next part of Myon to be colonized.

    March, Year 15

    hspace=0http://img74.imageshack.us/img74/1996/myonmarch1503uw.jpg align=baseline border=0>
    DSS Miniprobe 4 came in to GAS-1's atmosphere at an extremely fast speed due to its high gravity, and it has to make a adjustment in its course to avoid plunging strait into the planet and burning up. As it came in though the upper atmosphere, it leveled off, slowed down to a more reasonable speed, and gradually sank lower into the planet. It flew though a layer of bright yellow clouds, and not to far below that it came across a much thicker layer of bluish-yellow clouds. After taking this picture, it flew though a tower of cloud and back into the open, then plunged into the clouds again. Soon after going in the clouds, it got so dark that the only thing that could be seen was the occasional dim lightning bolt. The probe turned on its lights, and soon flew into a small open area in the clouds, and as it looked around it could see purplish orange clouds before disappearing again. After about 10 more minutes part of the skin on the probe peeled off, causing a momentary loss of control, and soon after the probe could no longer stay going fast enough to stay up, and it began to drop faster and faster into the planet. Both stabilizing fins soon were ripped off, and shortly after the entire probe spun out of control and the signal was lost. It is though that the probe was crushed by the pressure as it continued to drop, and also possibly melted in the deeper regions.

    hspace=0http://img74.imageshack.us/img74/5274/myonmarch1515vi.jpg align=baseline border=0>
    A modified CS-1 has taken off from Myon headed for the outer edges of the solar system. IT will be exploring the area around Anacata and Puronda, as well as the inner edge of the asteroid belt. This is the first space exploration with people in it that has gone outside of the Myon-Terra run, so it will probably be the most publicized space trip in the news, possibly even more that the DSS trip which is nearing completion. All of the war equipment on the ship has been removed and replaced with stuff to keep the crew happy, as there is no need for the weapons, and this will be a much longer trip than a normal war mission. The defensive lasers and the particle shields will be kept on the ship just in case, as well as a teleportation station to evacuate the ship if necessary, and to bring in food and other supplies.

    hspace=0http://img305.imageshack.us/img305/7720/myonmarch1528uq.jpg align=baseline border=0>
    Another picture of the new region on Myon has shown 2 areas of interest, one of which ill be were the next settlements will be built, and another located up in the mountains. The landing site seems to have large amounts of rocks close to the surface, and this may have valuable minerals, so they will land there to find out. The area up in the mountains seems to be a settlement of some kind, but somehow, whenever the MSF try to take a close up picture of it, the picture is all staticy so they can't see anything there.

    DSS Miniprobe 5 has arrived at GAS-2, and has found it very different than GAS-1. It came in through the thick atmosphere and cloud levels to find a planet-wide sea, something that wasn't expected at all. The temperature on the planet is near the boiling point, and it has a much higher pressure than what was expected. The probe continued on trying to find even a little bit of land, but it was no use, the probe ran out of fuel and crashed into the ocean. Atmospheric composition: 60% methane, 40% water vapor, pressure: 9.43 Earth atmospheres.

    hspace=0http://img46.imageshack.us/img46/6189/myonmay1518lq.jpg align=baseline border=0>
    DSS miniprobe 6 plowed into the upper atmosphere of HAB-2 at high speed, creating a long path of ionized gases before lowing down and flying towards some islands. When it came in closer, it found the islands to be mostly rock, with only a few green places. This planet seems to have some sort of civilization on it because as the probe flew in, it detected several different radio transmissions of unknown origin. Atmospheric composition: 30% oxygen, 70% nitrogen, pressure: 1.09 Earth atmospheres.

    DSS Miniprobe 7, headed for HAB-3 disappeared from view as it approached the planet. Just as it was getting ready to enter HAB-3's atmosphere, the signal suddenly went to static. It seems as if something destroyed the probe or captured it, another probe will be sent on the next orbit around.

    hspace=0http://img173.imageshack.us/img173/8797/myonmay1525ey.jpg align=baseline border=0>
    DSS miniprobe 8 entered ROK-3's atmosphere to find a volcanic world, covered in fresh lava rocks, and in some places, volcanoes spewing out plumes of lava. The probe has trouble going though the atmosphere at some times due to the intense winds created by the volcanoes, but it managed to take this picture while being blown sideways before crashing into a mountain.  Atmospheric composition: 78% carbon dioxide, 22% dust and ash, pressure: 2.57 Earth atmospheres.

    hspace=0http://img173.imageshack.us/img173/8255/myonmay1530ix.jpg align=baseline border=0>
    DSS Miniprobe 9 flew in very slow into HUH-1's atmosphere for some reason, at it came across numerous green clouds that seem to be made up of a mixture of water and algae, and found the ground covered in plants despite the fact that there are no large bodies of water anywhere to be found.  Atmospheric composition: 35% oxygen, 60% nitrogen, 3% microorganisms, 2% water vapor, pressure: 1.23 Earth atmospheres.

    WAR!!!

    A squadron of AF-1s owned by Uptasaunt attacked one of the CS-1s in Myon orbit, causing minor damage. The people on the CS-1 fired back, destroying 3 of the enemy AF-1s, but the remaining 7 were able to escape back to where they had come from. Shortly after, Myon and the rest of Terra declared war an the Uptasaunt region.

    Before I focus mainly on the war, I will give you overviews of what the towns of Myon are currently like.
    hspace=0http://img280.imageshack.us/img280/3901/myonjuly150brekel6wo.jpg align=baseline border=0>
    Here is the town of Brekel, located on the south end of Myon Lake. It has stayed relatively small since it was developed, and most likely will stay that way.

    hspace=0http://img280.imageshack.us/img280/1268/myonjuly1516lt.jpg align=baseline border=0>
    Here is the city of Amiton, which has been growing fast lately, with several recreation additions such as Amiton Stadium which has places to play many different types of sports and to go swimming, and the Amiton Docks where you can take a walk along the waterfront, go fishing out in Amiton Lake, or go swimming around Amiton Island. Amiton is also home to Gina Prenger, the head of the MSF, and she lives in the large area on the west end of town where several other mansions can be found. If you click the picture, you can get the full size version of the Amiton picture.

    Myon Space News

    DSS will be launching Miniprobe 10 to HAB-3 because the original probe going there mysteriously disappeared. The probe is set to reach the planet in about 1.5 months.

    hspace=0http://img80.imageshack.us/img80/371/puronda8tv.jpg align=baseline border=0>
    The modified CS-1, named Discovery, has reached the planet Puronda. Puronda has been found to be a volcanic planet with numerous lava fields over the entire planet. It also seems to have what appears to be a natural nuclear reactor in its core, which is the source of the heat that is causing the volcanoes. The next destination of Discovery is the planet Anacata, then it will go out to examine the outer asteroid belt.

    War News

    So far there have been no major battles, just occasional small fights between AF-1s that are stationed in space. Losses are low, and are almost evenly matched with the enemy's losses.

    Some truly marvellous updates Leech10!! I almost can't believe what I'm seeing when I look at those landscapes.... almost losing myself in them; in two words: wonderful & original!

    I'm sorry a war broke out... but I guess somehow this could be expected...

    (This is 2 images, both 800x550)

    Here is the small town of Ferneon, the smallest town on the planet. Not much happens here, but it does have the only wind power plants on the planet, as well as the only race track, where Jeff Anderson can be found occasionally.

    hspace=0http://img33.imageshack.us/img33/5439/myonseptember1519bv.jpg align=baseline border=0>
    For the first time since page 2, a map of all of Myon City has been made. Here you can find most of the major people in the story, as well as the original landing site of the Myon 1 probe which started the colonization of the planet. Click for the full version of the map.

    hspace=0http://img161.imageshack.us/img161/917/myonseptember1538fg.jpg align=baseline border=0>
    Another picture taken by Myon 1 at night shows an area in a small lake attached to one of the rivers that is full of lights. This does not seem to be anything like what is found on the rest of the planet, not even in the colonized area of Myon. For one thing, most of the lights seem to be out on the water, but the people living here do not build out on the water like this. Also, the lights look different than the ones used by the people, making it seem like this may be a decoy base set up by the Uptasauntians, or a city of some sort of alien creatures.

    Myon Space News

    Just like miniprobe 7, miniprobe 10 disappeared before reaching HAB-3. What is causing this is unknown, but DSS will send out one last group of probes, miniprobes 11 through 20, to try to get to the planet. The probes will spread out and approach the planet from all sides, hoping that at least one will be able to make it to the planet. After that, the remaining 5 probes on the ship will not be sent out unless something else is found. The probes will be launched next month, and in 2.5 months they should reach the planet.

    War News

    There is still only small battles going on, but a group of CS-1s will attempt to go into Uptasaunt space to try to get through their defenses.
