    May, Year 8 / 114

    After some quick travelling though the forests, the robots come at last to the western ocean, where many palm trees can be found along the beaches.

    hspace=0http://img110.echo.cx/img110/6963/myonmay800qf.jpg align=baseline border=0>
    Area along the Vacimin River as it nears the coast.

    hspace=0http://img110.echo.cx/img110/11/myonmay815ni.jpg align=baseline border=0>
    The ending point of the trail at the unnamed western ocean. Do you have any ideas for the name?

    Here is the path that Bruce Stanton has made for his exploration of Melime River. He will go though Myon Lake and Wenten River by boat before getting to Melime RIver, where he will set up a base cam along with some other people, and from there, he will explore down the river to see what can be found there.

    July, Year 8 / 114

    hspace=0http://img148.echo.cx/img148/5359/myonjuly804dj.jpg align=baseline border=0>
    Here is Bruce Stanton's boat, which has all the supplies for the trip as well as several other people for the base cam on the Melime River. Right now,.they are going into the middle of Myon Lake after taking a close look a Myon Island, which is about the same as the area around Myon City.

    hspace=0http://img148.echo.cx/img148/8679/myonjuly817aj.jpg align=baseline border=0>
    They continue through the lake as it gets deeper, and they find large amounts of fish in the area. Myon Lake seems to be about 500 feet deep in this area, which makes it very deep for a lake of its size.

    hspace=0http://img148.echo.cx/img148/3563/myonjuly824wi.jpg align=baseline border=0>
    As they continue south into the Wenten River, the water gets shallower, and the shores begin to get swampy enough to allow large amounts of cypress trees to grow along the banks of the river.

    hspace=0http://img148.echo.cx/img148/1435/myonjuly831ee.jpg align=baseline border=0>
    The biggest surprise in the trip was a small clump of Myonian Palms, the same type rescued from Myon Canyon. How they got here is unknown, but it is believed that a seed from one of the Myon Canyon palms fell into Myon River, and got pulled into Myon Lake. From there, it got sucked into the Wenten River, where it stuck in the shore here and began to spread.

    Next update will feature the rest of the boat trip and the start of the foot exploration.

    hspace=0http://img134.echo.cx/img134/6728/myonseptember809ya.jpg align=baseline border=0>
    This is a picture of the area where the Melime River and the Wenten River meet. The area here isn't as swampy, and the cypress trees begin to go away.

    hspace=0http://img134.echo.cx/img134/513/myonseptember818ia.jpg align=baseline border=0>
    At the base camp, several cabins have been built to store the supplies as well as the people who choose not to go with Bruce in the exploration to the end of Melime River.

    hspace=0http://img134.echo.cx/img134/8516/myonseptember822ma.jpg align=baseline border=0>
    They make a trail along the area to make it easy to get back, as well as to allow them to know where different thing are along the way. At the beginning, it is just a normal forest with few variations and lots of trees.

    hspace=0http://img134.echo.cx/img134/4685/myonseptember835qv.jpg align=baseline border=0>
    As they get farther in, there is beginning to be lots of mushrooms, as well as a large amount of some squirrel-like creatures that jump from tree to tree like they were flying. These creatures are about 1 to 2 feet long, a greenish-brown color, and the quickly run up the trees and jump from branch to branch when spotted.

    Tiffany Stanton has decided to go with Bruce in the exploration in the forest after he returned back to base camp and reported what he saw. (There are 6 people in the group that is doing the exploring) Along the way, many more animals are seen in the forest that seem very similar to animals back on Terra, but they are still very different.

    hspace=0http://img63.echo.cx/img63/2182/myonnovember814dx.jpg align=baseline border=0>
    One of these animals looks like a bear, but it is actually very nice, and reaches up to eat leaves out of the trees. It moves relatively slow, and tends to hide when the people approach.

    hspace=0http://img63.echo.cx/img63/526/myonnovember827tb.jpg align=baseline border=0>
    Farther along, the path they are taking goes near the Melime river again, and here they can see numerous small fish, which are about 5 inches long, and have 2 fins on each side, and a long fin going down their back to the tail. These fish have been seen all over the planet so far, and are known to be edible, so the take a break to fish for awhile. They catch 15 fish, and they let them dry as they continue along the path.

    hspace=0http://img63.echo.cx/img63/7928/myonnovember834dv.jpg align=baseline border=0>
    Another animal spotted is a fast moving creature that looks somewhat like a dog that followed them around, but never got too close. To get it to go away, they throw one of the fish into the forest, and the animal runs after it, and doesn't return.

    hspace=0http://img63.echo.cx/img63/4033/myonnovember848or.jpg align=baseline border=0>
    After they meet back with the robotic trail builder, they set up camp near a small pond full of lilypads. They cook the fish and eat them, along with some other food they brought. The night here is calm, and the only noise they hear is the noise of the squirrel-like creatures jumping between trees.

    January Year 9 / 115

    hspace=0http://img134.echo.cx/img134/7921/myonjanuary900td.jpg align=baseline border=0>
    The path follows a small stream that comes off of the lake they camped at, and the stream soon ends up in the Melime River. The path crosses the stream, and begins to head back into the deeper part of the forest.

    hspace=0http://img134.echo.cx/img134/9643/myonjanuary913oj.jpg align=baseline border=0>
    Many more animals are found here, including large amounts of the greenish squirrels, and also some tree sap sucking things that glide from one tree to the next, avoiding everything in their path very well.

    hspace=0http://img134.echo.cx/img134/4067/myonjanuary926el.jpg align=baseline border=0>
    As they get to another turn in the path, they reach a small abandon village, which seem to have been occupied very recently. the area around it is relatively clean, and the buildings appear to be well kept.

    hspace=0http://img134.echo.cx/img134/2614/myonjanuary939zk.jpg align=baseline border=0>
    In the village there are several houses, a tower that seems to have been used for observation, and an area that seems like a community fire pit. Inside the houses there was lots of furniture, including beds and chairs, but no food was found. It seems as if the occupants just got up and left, taking only their food an whatever they could carry.

    hspace=0http://img134.echo.cx/img134/414/myonjanuary948im.jpg align=baseline border=0>
    The path continues to the north, and as they go, the river seems to have even more fish in it, including a large eel-like fish that tends to swim up to the shore every so often, sometimes going completely out of the water.

    hspace=0http://img134.echo.cx/img134/2124/myonjanuary956ic.jpg align=baseline border=0>
    They camp in an area where the path returns to the river, and as they set up the camp, a small group of the squirrel-like creatures jumps between the trees right above them, sending a large amount of leaves floating down and causing a lot of noise.

    Well, the terrain looks good. You wanted a name for the unknown western ocean? Does the Melime River dump into it, if it does, what about the Melemon Ocean? 3.gif

    The western ocean is on the west side of the mountains, and Melime River is on the east side, so they don't meet.
    April, Year 9 / 115

    hspace=0http://img133.echo.cx/img133/5446/myonapril900lz.jpg align=baseline border=0>
    The path soon turns north, and closer to the end of the Melime River as shown by Myon 1. Several new animals, 2 foot long fox like creatures, cause trouble by jumping around and distracting everyone, but they soon retreat deeper into the forest.

    hspace=0http://img133.echo.cx/img133/629/myonapril917et.jpg align=baseline border=0>
    They stop to fish along another part of the shore, and they catch several of the numerous fish, as well as 2 of the eel-like fish that jump out of the water. They keep one of them and throw the other back to examine it when they get back to the base camp.

    hspace=0http://img133.echo.cx/img133/2962/myonapril925ap.jpg align=baseline border=0>
    As they travel though the thick forest again they discover evidence that there were primitive hunters in this area a while ago, where they could see arrows stuck in the trees, and the trees had already grown back over it and healed. Several more arrows were found on the ground, and they seemed to be made out of some kind of metal, with a wooden shaft attached to it.

    hspace=0http://img133.echo.cx/img133/668/myonapril933gy.jpg align=baseline border=0>
    They camp in an area where the river widens and begins to slow down again, allowing more swamp trees to grow along the banks of the river. Here, the fish that flop their way onto the land can be seen swimming in some shallow puddles, sometimes flopping around and going to other puddles, or back to the river.

    June, Year 9 / 115

    hspace=0http://img259.echo.cx/img259/1885/myonjune903qx.jpg align=baseline border=0>
    As they continue along the river, the ground begins to get a little muddy, but the path stays nice and dry. The squirrel creatures become even more numerous, and make all sorts of noise as the jump and glide though the air.

    hspace=0http://img259.echo.cx/img259/3912/myonjune916oz.jpg align=baseline border=0>
    Soon, the tree types suddenly change to swamp trees, and the path begins to get gooey as well as the ground. Here, about the only animals that can be found are the squirrel creatures, and there seem to be about 1 of them per tree in the area.

    hspace=0http://img259.echo.cx/img259/6254/myonjune925rx.jpg align=baseline border=0>
    As they get deeper into the swamp, they come across a large pool of water that has almost nothing in it, and a water test reveals it to be very acidic, and it has only a few microorganisms living in it, and has killed most of the other stuff near it. They hear some of the squirrel creatures jumping over the path, and as they look up, they see several flying creatures that grab the squirrel creatures right out of the air and fly off, never flapping their wings. The flying creatures seem to have a bulge on each wing, and as they fly, they make a strange buzzing noise.

    hspace=0http://img259.echo.cx/img259/1415/myonjune934yp.jpg align=baseline border=0>
    They continue on, and when they get back closer to the river, Tiffany trips over a rock and falls into another person, and they both all in the mud, spattering everyone. After the get back up and brush the mud off, they look at the trees, which seem to have thinned out and are being invaded by a strange smaller tree that is a lot lighter than the rest of them.

    hspace=0http://img259.echo.cx/img259/7897/myonjune944ha.jpg align=baseline border=0>
    They soon come to the end of the trail, where they find another abandon tower, as well as several bits of metal that are strewn across the path. As they look out over the Melime River, they see the beginning of a large sea, which spreads out as far as they can see. From here, they return to the base camp to report all that they saw, and to examine the strange fish they caught.

    This side of Myon City has grown a lot from the new people coming on Myon 7, and the first school was built for the first kids to come to Myon. Anderson Architecture was once again busy making plans for these new homes. The other side of the town hasn't changes at all, just the east side.

    hspace=0http://img262.echo.cx/img262/944/myonaugust919nc.jpg align=baseline border=0>
    Construction of the levee has started, adding 15 more feet to the original 20 foot protection provided by the seawall. This means that once the levee is complete, the water can rise 35 feet above normal and it will stay in the river. The levee will be the only protection that will go all the way along the river, the seawall will only be in town.

    hspace=0http://img262.echo.cx/img262/9389/myonaugust926ct.jpg align=baseline border=0>
    Not much has happened at Amiton except for the total filling of Amiton Lake, and some more office construction. Amiton Lake will star around this level, and if it goes too much higher, the emergency valve at Myon Dam will be opened to keep the dam from breaking.

    hspace=0http://img262.echo.cx/img262/2097/myonaugust930wh.jpg align=baseline border=0>
    The construction of the teleportation station that was brought on Myon 7 has begun, when it is completed, people will be able to travel between Terra and Myon without the need of the spaceships, but the spaceships will stay in use for a while. It is being built at the spaceport, so when the growth on Myon continues elsewhere on the planet, the people can go right onto a plane to go someplace else.

    hspace=0http://img262.echo.cx/img262/6904/myonaugust941yf.jpg align=baseline border=0>
    Here you can see the competed Amiton Lake, as well as the growth of Myon City, where if you look closely, you can see the levee.

    hspace=0http://img262.echo.cx/img262/7528/myonaugust952pa.jpg align=baseline border=0>
    Here is a simplified view of what was found in the fish that they brought back for examination.
    Orange: 1 is the mouth of the fish, there are no teeth and it is thought to eat soft stuff. 2 is the esophagus, 3 is a storage bag, which was empty, and 4 is the stomach ,which was also empty. 5 is the small intestine, 6 is the large intestine, and 7 is where the waste is removed from the fish. (the 2 endings of the orange intestine)

    Purple: 8 is the inward openings to the lungs, 9 is the lungs, and 10 is the exit openings for the lungs. (same on the other side.)

    Red: 11 is something like a kidney, which opens directly to the outside though 2 holes.

    Green: 12 is the stomach brains, 13 is the tail brains, and 14 is the nerve cord, which is on the bottom of the body cavity.

    Yellow: 15 is a heart like organ, which was used to pump oxygenated body fluids from the lungs to the rest of the body. Small vessels then brought the fluid from the tail back up to the head area. (not shown.)

    The fish didn't take me too long, but it took several hours for the people who were dissecting it to find everything in it.

    The main control center for the teleportation station has been built, now construction will begin on the teleportation rooms as well as the rest of the control center and the cooling system.

    hspace=0http://img262.echo.cx/img262/8946/myonnovember914wq.jpg align=baseline border=0>
    A new road going around the west end of Amiton Lake has been built, and it connects the new farming areas to the rest of the towns. These will be permanent farms, unlike the ones near the cities, and here they are watered by an irrigation system that takes water directly from the lake.

    hspace=0http://img262.echo.cx/img262/7577/myonnovember924yn.jpg align=baseline border=0>
    A closer look shows the irrigation canals that are vital to the growth of the farms in the desert conditions, as well as the livestock on some of the farms. I think the farmers need better fencing, as the cows and horses brought in from Terra are beginning to escape their grazing area. Unlike the livestock raising on Terra, here the livestock are allowed to roam around, and so the meat from them has more meat and less fat, making a healthier meal.
