KOSC: Do you mean like a co-operation thingy between CJs, or you getting involved in the Thistlewood story? If it's the latter, PM me your character's name, gender and profession, and I'll handle it from there. By the way, I'd be glad to drop promos for Goldenrod Plains in Thistlewood, but only if you do the same for me.

dhoppeii: What I meant by requests was parts of the region you wanted to see, or background info you wanted. But, I'll implement a rail-line, and provide pictures of it tomorrow! Remember people, still room for 2 more requests and as long as they fit the tone of the region, (e.g. no skyscraper requests) I'll include something for you! Thanks for your continued support guys!

Well...we've got 2 requests! dhoppeii and SC4 Meister, thanks for contributing to the process, and for your input concerning the new format. Glad you guys like it! Anyways, I hope we get more requests next time, because it took an entire day to get 2, but I'm sure that it will pick up after. I'll have your requests up tonight, and interestingly enough, the bar is open-air! Must be the Oregon climate...

Alright, it's the inaugural request update! Here, I'll produce pictures of thing you asked me to see. For example, if you asked me to provide an in-depth look at Westlake, I would take a ton of pictures concerning Westlake and provide some background information concerning the town. If it's a place, I'll get the picture and write a backstory for the place in question. I fulfilled 2 requests, and hopefully this will pick up as this CJ advances. There'll be no news or Artemis's Journal segments, but I will address your comments at the very end.

    --------------------------------------------------------------

dhoppeii asked me to build a rail network connecting the 3 towns, Huntington, Westlake, and Overdale. So, I did just that! I'll show you pictures of the train stations, give you some details on the railroad itself, and give you an overview picture of the area with the new railroad. Anyways, backstory first!

The Tri-Town railroad was just recently built, but was in the planning phases for a long time. When Artemis Winchester first laid out the plans for Thistlewood, a rail-line was planned to provide quick access between towns. Now, that vision has come to life, and the Tri-Town railroad provides quick transportation in the Tri-Town area.

There are 4 rail depots in total. There are 2 stations in Huntington, 1 in Westlake, and 1 in Overdale. The first station in Huntington is on the west side of town, relatively near the new Riviera Farms and housing. nethistlewoodmar30611116132049.jpg

The 2nd station in Huntington is on the east side, near the original Johnson, Bentley and Riviera Farms. Also, the 2nd station is closest to Huntington General Store and Sherry's Bar, where all the local celebrities like to go out for a Bud. nethistlewoodmar30611116132730.jpg

The Overdale station is close to the town windmill and home of town founder Mark Dabb. This is one of the more important stations, as the 2nd biggest employer in Thistlewood, Dabb Naval Parts, sends all its cargo to the Tri-Town area through this train station, rather than by road.(The biggest single employer is actually Riviera Inc., and you'll find out why later in this update.) nethistlewoodmar30611116133324.jpg

The Westlake depot is on the main road leading into the town, either Route 21 in the country, Main Street in Huntington, Mills Street in Westlake, or Dabb Road in Overdale. It is also right beside Rev. Angel Mills's home. The train station is also close to another Westlake source of pride, which we will hear about later. nethistlewoodmar30611116133658.jpg

And, to close out dhoppeii's request, here's a shot of the Tri-Town area with the newly finished railroad. nethistlewoodmar30611116134202.jpg

    -----------------------------------------------------------

SC4 Meister wanted to see Sherry's Bar. We'll get to see the famous Huntington hangout, as well as some background information on the favourite of many locals.

Sherry's Bar was one of the first businesses in the Tri-Town area. Located within walking distance of most Huntington homes, and a 30 minute drive from both Westlake and Overdale, Sherry's is one of the most profitable businesses in Huntington and the overall Tri-Town area. Its open-air design is renowned, and Sherry herself is in talks to start up another franchise somewhere in the Tri-Town area, obviously in either Westlake or Overdale, although Overdale seems to be the likely choice. Here's Sherry's. nethistlewoodmar30611116135447.jpg

    -----------------------------------------------------------

Now, for a more regular update, although rather small. Westlake has experienced some growth lately, which can be attributed to one man: the mysterious Mr. Nedal, from Riviera Island, a land in the Indian Ocean.

Mr. Nedal, originally hailing from the bustling town of Mayfina, has sparked much growth in the Tri-Town area, first Huntington, but most recently Westlake. Like he promised, he's opened a retail division, changing the name of the company from Riviera Crops to Nedal Inc. His new store is called Nedal's Fresh Fruit, selling both his produce and Bentley's produce. Designed by architect Thom Yorke, who is mayor of the town of Sallam back in Riviera Island, it has already cornered the fruit market, which may cause Bentley Fruit to go bankrupt. Anyways, here's the shop. Also in the picture is Mr. Nedal's new Westlake home, the biggest estate in the Tri-Town area. nethistlewoodmar24061111613871.jpg

Also, a new housing area has been erected in the northern part of Westlake. Now, the town has 97 residents, 38 up from the last census. Here's a picture of the new housing. nethistlewoodapr19061111614054.jpg

To finish up, I'll show one last picture. For all his hard work bringing business into Thistlewood, a park in honour of Barry Koblyanski has been built where Mr. Nedal's Huntington home used to be. Koblyanski Park will live for many generations after Barry dies, and will remind people of the work ethic and dedication of one of Thistlewood's founding fathers. nethistlewoodmar30611116136384.jpg

Alright, the next update will be a biggie. A new character is going to enter the story, growth in all 3 towns, and so much more...before I leave for now, I'll address your comments.

    -----------------------------------------------------------

KOSC: Thanks. You'll be in the next update, for sure. Be ready...

Nedal: Thanks. I'm sure Kobes won't mind. But it looks like Bentley's down for the count, and Johnson can't be far away...there might be a monopoly in the agricultural market soon enough! Hope you noticed all the promos for Riviera in this update...

rewright: Thanks for the kind words. I try to make sure that there is enough detail accompanying every picture. Like I've said before, Casa Grande is a big inspiration, I have tons of people to thank for Thistlewood and you're one of them.

dhoppeii: Thanks for your comment concerning the new format, and thanks for contributing a request! I hope you liked what I did with the rail-line, I personally think it turned out great.

bobinator: Thanks so much! Sun Valley is amazing, it's infinity times better than Thistlewood!

SC4 Meister: A late comment is better than none. Thanks for your unwavering loyalty, and as you can see, I fulfilled your request to see Sherry's. Hope you like it!

Rymac: Thanks for the kind words. I'll be sure to thank you again if I see you in ST Chat, lol!

So that concludes the very first request update. Hoped you guys like it, I'll try to get an update out tomorrow or Friday. Thanks for all your comments, and remember, after each Wednesday request update, you are free to request more stuff, so I hope that right after this update, some requests will come flooding in!
    -----------------------------------------------------------

    Have a nice day,

    RHF

Update time! Thanks for all your continued support guys, this update will contain 2 things. First, we'll see the introduction of a new character, and we'll begin out in-depth tour of the Tri-Town area. Part 1 will be Overdale. There'll also be a new Artemis's Journal, and news to start off! As usual, I'll address your comments at the end of the update. But first, the latest news!

    --------------------------------------------------------------

Just to let everyone know, there is still one character spot up for grabs! I said I would accept 5, and so far there is 4 filled in. As you can see, these user-created characters are very successful, and if you want your character to be involved in the Thistlewood story, you should hurry, because there's only one spot left!

I'm surprised by the fact that there is no requests so far. I thought this was a good idea...the first request update was fairly successful, but if you guys want me to keep having these request updates, I need actual requests. I'm accepting them until Monday, but tell me as soon as possible, because then I have less work to do the day before I put the update out!

That concludes the news. Now, we'll get to the pictures for this update.

    -----------------------------------------------------------

We'll start off by introducing a new character into the CJ! Big businessman Tom Cao has just started a business at the junction of Route 35 and Route 21, Cao Farming Machinery. Cao hails from the area of Goldenrod Plains, more specifically the suburban paradise of Cedar Plains. His business is already very successful due to the large amount of agricultural jobs in the Tri-Town area. The shop employs 32 people, and is surrounded by a forested area. The forest was planted by the new Thistlewood Environmental Committee, headed up by none other than local reverend/activist Angel Mills. The co-chair, Mr.Nedal, and many of the group's members were on hand to plant the trees. Mr. Mills could not attend the ceremony due to an out-of-town reverend's conference. Anyways, here's the store and surrounding newly-planted saplings. nethistlewoodfeb19071111709959.jpg

Also, since Mr. Cao came into Thistlewood with an already large fortune, he built the biggest house in the area. Here's his mansion, Cao Manor. nethistlewoodmar16071111710008.jpg

Now, let's start off our tour of the Tri-Town area in the industrial centre of the region, Overdale. No statistics will be present during this update or in the Huntington and Westlake updates, I'll save them for the next census. So, here's an overview of the town, featuring most of the local areas of interest, although one new building unique to Overdale was built after this picture was taken. nethistlewoodsep24071111710269.jpg

Visible in this picture are the train depot, Overdale Building Supplies, the Dabb Naval Parts Facility, and the town windmill. Our next picture is of Overdale Building Supplies, the shop opened by Barry Koblyanski that sells building materials to everybody willing to pay. Their biggest customer is Dabb Naval Parts, but the shop would turn a tidy profit without the assistance of DNP. Here's the shop. nethistlewoodnov26071111710412.jpg

The train depot is a big part of the success of DNP, and of the town in general. The railroad is the fastest way for DNP to export their goods throughout the Tri-Town area and to the seaports around Oregon and Washington, plus there are no roads leading out of the area. Therefore, the rail is the only way to get their goods out of the area. Here's the Overdale Train Depot. nethistlewoodoct12071111710307.jpg

Next, we'll look at the Dabb Naval Parts facility. The 2nd biggest employer in Thistlewood behind the Nedal Inc. empire, Dabb Naval Parts is the reason Overdale is what it is. Most of the towns residents live here, and residents from Huntington and even Westlake take the train or drive to Overdale to work at DNP. There has been rumours of expansion into an ammunitions department, which would surely bring in plenty of money and jobs. For now though, the facility contains a storage area, construction sites, 2 processing plants, and a blast furnace. This mega-site has made Mark Dabb, the ex-Navy SEAL, into the 2nd richest man behind that mysterious Mr. Nedal. Here's Dabb Naval Parts. nethistlewoodnov18071111710362.jpg

The last picture from Overdale is something new to the entire Thistlewood region. Mayor Dabb, of the famous DNP, wants education to become a strong point, a focal point of Overdale's oncoming growth. He's built the first school in the region, servicing only the Overdale town limits.(From the train depot, to the DNP facility, to the end of Dabb Street, to the beginning of Route 35.) Overdale Elementary has caused quite an uproar in the Tri-Town area, and Huntington and Westlake are definitely considering building schools right away to compete with Overdale. Here's Overdale Elementary. nethistlewoodaug12081111710741.jpg

And that's all for Overdale! Next update, we'll visit Westlake until moving on to the largest settlement in the region, Huntington.

    -----------------------------------------------------------

Now, I'll address your comments personally.

bobinator: Thanks for the comment! I think you should thank dhoppeii though, he's the one who had the idea to build them! I used to suck with rails, so I'm glad that people have notices that I've improved.

dhoppeii: No problem. If you ask, I'll get it done. I should be thanking you for your great idea! Without your suggestion, I wouldn't have all these nice compliments concerning the railroad!

dev: Thanks so much. First time a mod/admin has ever commented on anything I've done...nice to see the power brokers at Simtrop take notice, lol. Hope to see you back here again sometime.

SC4 Meister: Thanks for the compliment! I'm surprised everybody likes the railroad so much...

DragonAnime: Thanks. I sure hope you're in here more often, I need as many replies as I can get! Just kidding, but thanks for stopping by, hope to see you back here soon!

Nedal: Thanks. I think this CJ has more references to you and Riviera than it does itself, lol. But Riviera Island deserves it, it is truly one of the best CJs on Simtrop and Thistlewood doesn't even come close. Keep doing what you're doing and you'll be on the way to a Trixie!

sloppet: Thanks for your kind words. I try to take really interesting pictures for you guys, thanks for noticing.

Iknowu: Not really sure what that means, but if you mean parkland, how many farming communities do you see with giant parks? Maybe later on, but not right now, the towns are too small for parks just yet. All in due time...

Kaze Progressa: Thanks. Nice to see that you are gaining oxygen, nitrogen, carbon dioxide, and a multitude of other gases from my CJ! Just kidding, but seriously, thanks for the comment, one of the nicest things someone has ever said about my work.

KOSC: I'll include that in the next update, I'm using timotheus4's Green water, it looks awesome! The region looks totally different with the new water installed. Thanks for the suggestion. (Does that count as a request? Think I'll include the pic in both the request update and the next update just to be sure.)

    -----------------------------------------------------------

Hope you guys liked the update, and I'll try to get the spotlight update on Westlake out tomorrow, Saturday at the latest.

    Have a nice evening,

    RHF

Mr. RHF,  I will have you know that Thistlewood is every bit the CJ Riviera is.  You truly have a remarkable CJ and I am extremely happy to be such a big part of it.  Oh, and check the latest update, it seems Thistlewood and Riviera have developed an official trade agreement!

Well RHF, first off great update....44.gif, I do have a question for you though42.gif.  Are you having any trash problems in the Tri-City are yet?  If so, where is it going?  I looked at some of the wider shot pictures and I don't see any landfills.  If you would like, you may choose to answer this question next Wed. on request day, if the trash is indeed going someplace. 10.gif
