Equinox, do you mean that about rendering the whole tower? Or even for rendering in parts? I know there are issues with putting pieces together in the lot editor and you can see the edges afterwards. But in the end we rather have it put together than not at all, right? We'll see.

I don't mind helping you render it at all; in fact, doing so would be really good for my school work!  17.gif  Doing it in pieces would be fine, though, too, if you wanted to do it that way...I was talking about all-in-one-shot when I said 512 wasn't enough.

Equinox, thank you very much for your offering again 48.gif I will keep it in mind!

After refining and rescaling the model in the test process we're having this current status:

    Shape-Scale-Test-b.jpg

Looks definitely more like it's supposed to be, right?
I had the idea to use the developed model above to build the actual tower on top of it, kind of as a skin. This would save me a lot chaos and mis-scaling I think.
Anyone has other techinques for big structures to share?

For spli-rendering, I tried similar thing when I made my first BAT (HunanQu 23 in STEX). What I did was to make the building, and then add some rooftop props, but it didn't work out.

It seems, the surface you want to connect should be completely flat, or any projection will be counted as height and hides anything that comes on top. That's why all connective faces are completely flat in my Coruscant Tower. So... this is the max. I can say for this. I It seems, I really need to do some experiment.

And yes, the curtain wall method I am using, it is really effective for huge structures! 44.gif But keep in mind that when you make the first piece of curtain, spend time on it because that piece will be repeated on the wall hundreds of times, and makes the most difference.  I got this lessen by heart from Nephlon Arista Arximia. I should have made better curtain walls. So, the next superskyscraper Yavina17 will have better curtain walls.

Will you be just doing the tower, or adding the shopping mall which is planned for the bottom too?

Thanks for all your comments. 2ch.net simplayer, thank you for your tip with the curtain walls. For the rendering I hope to find a computer that manages the whole thing, maybe equinox's machine is capable of doing it. I tried to export the basic model  in draft quality, but it always fails after the first rendering Zoom 5 South. Now, in order to get an idea of the actual scale of the tower ingame at all, I rendered the first 200 meters of it, took half an hour.

And Lord_Bertrum: I will do the tower only, though the model I have so far is without the actual base of the tower. The shopping mall that is being build next to Burj Dubai is actully VERY huge and would be another mega project!

    Here's a pic:

I think that Shopping centre will put Birmingham Bull Ring to shame in terms of outlandish design when built. I've Heard that Dunai is rapidly becoming one of the best places to go shopping in the world as everything is duty free.

This is going to be one massive project!  Are you going to build the whole park?  Or just the tower?  It'd be like 50x50 tile set!

    *edit post*

this would be more like a small city x.x

As I said, I only do the tower with it's foundation and also the three surounding buildings.

I have a small update, I rescaled again, now it's even more appropriate, and I added more antennas. Have a look on the birdseye view as well.

This is a little teaser, hehe. I played with this small version to get a feeling for the whole thing and learn about possible issues. Enjoy!
