    vivydu29, the cattle guard was made by our friend Matt (threestooges).  I'll be talking with him about what his release plans are after we work out some last details.  We'll be keeping you posted.

    We're headed for the start of collaboration over at 3RR [linkie].

    nixie29da9.jpg

    The countdown, as they say, is on!

    Here's a piece of North Country farmland eyecandy to have while you wait.

    teaser08021201ey0.jpg

    That's a ST exclusiveOops, I goofed.  That's the same pic running right now over at 3RR-SC4D.  You'll have to wait for the exclusive pic 'til later this afternoon, as it's on the home 'puter and I still need to upload it to ImageShack.

    Wow, It's very beautiful, I like your farm. One question, it is only of the plop?

    In all case, brightly that you put out these barriers, they are beautiful.

    Wow, this looks very cool. I also like the idea of plopable windmills, now you can literally make windmill jungles... 18.gif

    Here's that exclusive...

    teaser08021202gp6.jpg

    vivydo29, everything you see there is ploppable.  Thanks for the very kind words.

    Phil (PhilsCafe), hey, my old friend.  I think there's a lot of farm "furniture": windmills, grain bins, tanks, silos, that would lend themselves to random plopping.  At some point I'll unveil the agricultural large quad that I'm working on in its entirety- just a bit of random stuff makes all the difference.

    jacqulina, hi.  Consider yourself hugged- I really miss seeing the horses.  It's always so great to have you stop by.

    bbfan02, your frequent posts here over the last months are always a treat to see.  Catch you over in Worchester- I really am enjoying the Showcase.

    jayo, hey!  I left you a question as an edit to your last comment over at 3RR-SC4D.  You are most certainly likely correct- point me in the right direction.  Your comment, btw, reads like Hemingway [ linkie ].

    Dan (dfnva), my roadgeek friend!  Shoot me an email or hotmail address, and I'll send you (and anyone else interested) the textures and lots back.  It's not ready for prime time, but I tend to have a problem that way.  I'd love to see someone take one of the bazillion ideas I spin off to the next level.

    hotdogs (ilikehotdogsalot)- if I can amaze you, my friend, I must be doing OK.  Usually it's the other way around.

    Great to take a minute and have this little chat.  Lots of good stuff coming up, and collaboration is right around the corner.

    David

    You are doing much better than OK! I've always lurked, and pondered around your journal for long periods of time without dropping by a single comment, it's time that I should say a little something to show that I'm here, we're here, looking at your journal in amazement 2.gif Crop-circles, custom fences, windmills, new road textures, some many new creations that are turning SC4 into a new game. Who needs SC5 when we already have it in our hands!

    Hope to see you around!

    Of course your right what the random stuff is concerned. Can't wait... 4.gif I'll check back for updates for sure. That picture is just awesome, a new level of art imitating life.

    Take care, David!

    The countdown ticks on...

    nixie27vt5.jpg

    * * *

    I've spent the last little bit updating my plugins folder with c.p.'s (cycledogg) newer version of seasonal trees.  They are more muted in color, and I think they really take a good autumn scene and make it great.

    teaser08021401wn2.jpg

    Compare this to some of my earlier seasonal tree pics and you'll see what I mean.  There's much more information on this over at 3RR [linkie].

    * * *

    hotdogs (ilikehotdogsalot), hey.  You are too kind.  Of course, the stuff I do is generally for the most selfish of reasons- it's just not been done yet and I need it.  I do like to share, though.

    JKB bakercity, thanks very much for being a 3RR Regular*, both here and at 3RR-SC4D.

    vivydu29- ...and speaking of 3RR Regulars, thanks so much for your recent comments here.  I've missed hanging around with the 3RR-ST crowd.

    Shanna, hi!  First-time commenting, if I'm not mistaken.  Welcome to the greatest collection of cyberfriends out there (imho, anyway).

    Criquette (Marrast), wow- I almost don't know what to say.  I can't wait for 3RR Collaboration to start so that you can see the great things that you've done for the community off the STEX and into the region.  I am really honored that you like what we're doing.

    Phil (PhilsCafe)- Art imitating life?   No, that was over at Acorn Creek [ linkie ] and now can be found at Sterling//Lake Champlain [ linkie ].

    Later, folks.

    David

    *  A 3RR Regular, as I've not noted around here recently, is anyone who has posted in 3RR at least once, whether here on ST or over at SC4D.

    Those seasonals are some very artsy trees. I'm always a sucker for a nice rural scene. Count me as part of the demand for those cattle guards.  I'll need them once I finally force myself back into this game for my dream project. 5.gif

    There's a lot of stuff going on over at 3RR [linkie] these past few days.  John (Darmok), has taken time from gearing up for collaboration to design us a flag.  We've pretty much settled on this great design of his.

    finaljx5.jpg

    There's still some discussion, though, so it's not too late to come on over and throw your two cents in.

    Folks are also going to be seeing more of the topos I was working on last fall

    sttopoteaser080222thiv6.jpg

    sttopoteaser080222bhqq9.jpg

    as I complete the backstory for each collaboration quad.  Here's the one we just did for John's quad [linkie]

    * * *

    JanYpe, hey!  One order of cattle guards,my friend, coming up shortly.

    jayo, hi over here!  After collaboration starts, I'll have more time and I'll see if I can pull together a comprehensive mapmaking tutorial.  There's so many great cartographers in this community, though.  I have one approach out of the many fine ones- great work is always on display here [linkie]

    Benedict, heh!  That's a swing... and a miss.  My mapmaking skills, such as they are, far exceed my patience- I just try hard not to let that show.  Thanks for the really kind words.

    Jacky jacqulina- ...and you will be seeing them all soon.  I've been working with Matt (threestooges) and Travis on a bunch of farming stuff that's not too far from being made generally available.  I am working on emailing some lots and textures for folks to play with in the meantime, and plan to catch everyone up on that who's asked by this weekend.  Thanks, my friend, for your long-time support of 3RR.

    gabry85, hi!  I'm getting a sense that these will fill a need once they're available.  Brian (c.p./cycledogg) has given me permission to lot his seasonal trees, and I'm working on that.  I'm looking forward to finishing them up sometime in March.

    KingTitan, always great to see your nic among the comments.  It'll be interesting to see the 20+ different takes we're going to get through collaboration on 3RR's predominately rural landscape.  Thank you for the encouragement, my friend.

    * * *

    And we head into the 'teens...

    nixie19fd0.jpg

    Later, friends.

    David
