    Mightygoose - Newville

Hey MG, only two games never left my hard drive since I have computers, they are SimCity and Civilization, bought every one of them, if I divide their purchase price by the number of hours spend on them, it come to very small cost by hour!

Always liked games that make you think before everything else.

I also like racing simulations, Geoff Crammond's Grand Prix series, Collin McRae Rally, and recently TOCA Race Driver 3 (especially for the dirt track racing!)

Back to topic, the fences are really a pain in the neck, though BuddyBud made some that are slope conforming in a way, but they just didn't cut it for the look I wanted.

The thing in the pit is not in construction, it is DMD Public Works Center by darkmatter

To which I've added PEG's leveler tool in the backyard to make it larger. Here's the link : PEG CDK Leveler V205 by pegasus

Thanks for your comments man, take care.

    wouanagaine - Genesus

Hey wouanagaine, merci bien pour les bons mots!

Yep the Shadow_Assassin's Cycleways V.2 Is a great lot! So realistic AND beautiful, and with the price of gasoline these days, they're bound to gain in popularity! 18.gif

The fences are props found in this bat Newman Inc Rail Warehouse BSC by citynut

I just used them in a small custom lot I made, not very fancy, I'm still learning to use the LE correctly.

    Take care

    Nik-nik

Hi Nik, Well...RL has that kind of effect sometimes, but I'll let the spanking part to your wife if you don't mind!  17.gif

As for the link, glad to help when I can. The Library, I don't remember why I turned it this way instead of the other to tell you the truth. I do remember trying it in several ways but...mehh! It probably have to do with the slope of the terrain, and the available space and the placement of the parking on the side.

The Hospital, well... it's more an experimental clinic, and they're trying new medicated earplugs to treat various illnesses, so this way they kill two birds with one stone, they cure AND with the use of earplugs, hospitals can now be built in noisy environments! (Ooooooh boy.... that's not one of my better expalanation... sheeesh!)

As I said earlier, it would be a great thing if we could have a mod that keeps the roads/streets to their initial look when we place them! But I think we can't do that... what a shame.

The new Cycleways are really a fantastic addition to the game, the gradual curves, which at first I had problems to use correctly, gives them a very realistic look!

And this'll be one of the "uppish" sectors in Anôrien.

I thank thee for the kind message sir Nik, and I whisheth (!!??) thee a very good week!

    Sloppet

Hey no prob! here's a new one, I'll send you the bill later  18.gif

    zzavsloppetpasspzz1np.jpg

As for the avatar, I'm glad I could help.

And if your new CJ's as imaginative and innovative as your last one, I'm sure it'll be a success!

    Take care

    rusty_777

Hi Rusty, Welcome to Anduin Valley!

The effort's not difficult to make when you're having fun, and since I've changed my view of the game after reading Jeroni's SCR, I rediscovered SC4 and having a great time since then, sometimes all it takes is a few words and an open mind!

Thanks for taking the time to stop by and say a few words, it's always good to see new faces!

    See you!

Bernhard (Nardo) - Urland a (mostly) rural coastline

Hey Bernhard, I absolutely agree about Porkissimo's Library, it's one of the most beautiful library on the stex! Well those fences are only a little experiment I did with the LE, I still have to watch what props I'm using, sometimes even a very small lot can contain a LOT of dependencies, I have to try to reduce them...Not always easy!

As for the incinerators, don't forget that they are Hi-Tech, so the smoke has no pollutants at all, just water vapor! (Yeah, that'll be the day!)

Thanks for your visit and have a great week!

    -John

    MS (magpieshooter) - Kinata Region

Hey MS, Nope I didn't change the texture of SA's Cycleways, just using the transparent version. And yes trial and error is still how we learn the most!

    Take care!

    SpecialEddie

Hi Eddie, Welcome to Anduin Valley, Yes AVR is based or should I say inspired by Tolkien's work, I didn't use the Middle Earth map though. As for Mount Doom, hummm... I don't know... nevr thought of it. Maybe for dirty industries!

Thanks for your support and suggestion!

    See you

    Bombastix - Tisk Tisk

Hi Bombastix, Welcome to Anduin Valley!

Glad to see AVR can inspire some ideas!

    See you.

    Going2Chicago

Hehehe, don't count on me for the cupcakes, I'm sure that they would taste funny!

and you can't miss with great lots as Shadow's Cycleways!

    Take care!

    S_A_ (Shadow_Assassin) - The Savannah Way

As I said to G2C, hard to miss with good lots!

I didn't try Cycledog's fences, I wanted some fancy fences arent Cycledog's made for roads and such like BuddyBud's?

I'm not sure why I turn the library that way, but it sure brought up some discussion hey! WINK

As for the kink, I noticed it while taking the pic, I'll work on correcting it ASAP. If not, it'll look like like a NASCAR super oval racetrack!

    Take care my friend

    Bat

Thanks Bat, well it's just that it sounded funny!

    Take care!

    Cjah - Callisto

    Thanks man!

And yes Porkissimmo has given us several great looking bats!

    Take care

    Szarkoz

I know it was made with a more Urban destination in mind, but I likie it's Hi-Tech look! That's why I've chosen it instead of a more "rural" looking one.

    Always good to read you!

    Take care

    Tracker – Graph X Services

    Thanks Tracker, appreciate it!

    Take care

And now people her'es the first update of The NUMA installation - Dragon Base, all this come from a small lot that Chris (DragonAnime) sent me (a long time ago) BTW you're very patient Chris!,  to test in Anduin VAlley.

    So here's the result

    Amazing update(s) D!

L-O-V-E the use of Porki's BATs in the last update! I'm planning a French District in my first ever city, and Porki's BATs were the inspiration. (Amazing, I've never actually let a city live long enough to finish it, perfectionism! Quite the burden! hehe)

And, the submarines for NUMA! Sweet!!! I simply wish I had your skills! It would make things so much easier!

    Till next time!

All I can say is wow. The sub pen is amazing, though I do have one question: is that break in the sea wall an opening for the subs to sail through or an overflow opening (in which case the subs would submerge and sail under? Very well thought out, too, the repair/maintenence facility. I think pic 13 would be my favorite. Brilliant.

Welcome to page 88! Here's to page 89 and more.

    Hey Darmok, How is everything?

Great work, you make it look sooooo easy.  Getting to the end result and the result are both as much fun for me.  Cause once you are there you can relax, even if it's just for a minute.  Where did you get the submarines from?  They look awesome.

And a super WOW....you have made it to page 88.  That's incredible.  This is one of my favourite CJ's, I'm sure you still have alot more pages to go with this one.

I love the submarine. How much time do you spend working on you cities? All I can say, is wow. There amazingly detailed and planned out. I also like the bike trails, reminds me of Ottawa.

Wow it looks like AVR is also becoming a military power! I really like how the port looks like. What made me smile was the name of AVN-04006. Smaug! Great 9.gif This submarine should transport gold and money - dragons and Tolkien's Smaug loved them 2.gif Again, a great job Darmok. 48.gif

    Salut John.

Great updates once again my friend. I like the setup for the library, especially with the reworked fences 2.gif. It really made me want to go outside and read a book (now that spring finally has come to town...). The last time I've read a book just for entertainment was a couple of weeks ago: 'How to be Good' by Nick Hornby.

The submarine base, that was exactly what was missing on that island. Very good idea. My only concern is, if these submarines really can pass that  narrow entry to the docks... but despite of that, it looks amazing as usual.

Oh I nearly forgot to mention the Anôrien picture with SA's cycleways 2. I love the way they descend to the shore. Simply awesome.

    Take care et à bientôt.

thats a really cool base. the submarine shipbuilding thing is my favorite and the way you used the PEG water tiles was very original. i sure hope those submarines are heavy duty because it looks like they have to survive a little water fall into the ocean. lol. great work, i'd say its... ingenious! (trust me, i'm not as smart as that word makes me sound)

Wow now that has to be one of the greatest updates of all time!

The port was very creative and quite inspiring....I'd never think of using peg's river peices in such ways, but aswell as that creek was it works even better with the port by peg....The subarines are awesome. Thanks to DA and good placement Darmok.I really like the sub pen and how this port area was built....

    Great update!

THAT IS SOOO NICE. That's a very unique way of using PEG's pond kit. Is that the Clipper Watermod? I think it's the only one I've seen that blends in the the pond and canal kits but I've never tried it. That's a beautiful port.

    Darmok,

Great work my friend...enough so I had to come out of lurking for an update...everything has looked awesome, and the sub base is brilliant...the sub props in the PEG pond tiles are a nice touch.  Maybe you could collect some other military boat props and put some stuff together...

Great work... keep em coming... 44.gif

    No comment.... just simple drooling....

Love the creative way you use the pond tiles!!

Good, I managed to find a flaw (phew, I almost feared I had nothing) In the last picture the fed-ex ship blocks the tanker. This happens when placing the fed-ex lot and the harbour lot too near to eachother. Placing 1 Fed-ex lot on the other side would be much better (now that I look closer I see this problem also in other pics).

    Take care.

    i know i know i know....i missed updates!! lol

But I was in vacations so i'm sure you will forgive me 2.gif

    So great update!

I noticed in the previous, previous update bench with a little path and some spotlight,i guess they're yours.I find them very nice, and a great detail.

And in the previous update,i like the way you used the peg water!A great idea (il fallait y penser 4.gif ).I always discover some new concept of development here!! Thanks 2.gif. It's great to see thaht the game "peut encore nous surprendre" (sorry, lack of vocabulary).

Well,i have two question,i'm actually working on a new city (wow,so i'have 4 city to build lol),and i'm planning a seaport, with a military part,so i wonder where can i find these lot with the submarine (and the tower crane)

Next,i noticed had some very nice beach (some update earlier),so as my new city will be a kind of Miami,i would like to know how you did them.

    Thanks 2.gif

great work John, I've been quite busy lately and I missed some updates here at ST, but one thing as I said before, the way you plann the buildings is very nice, because you add life to them, and the island is getting a really nice and complete chain of services and infraestructure, so I would like to ask you, are there any plans to massive residencial areas on the island or it will stay as it is? great work man.

Very nice updates. I really like it how you build the cycleways. Very nice 44.gif

And the same goes for the Dragon Base. I like it how you used PEG Ponds Kit. It even has given me an idea for my own cities.

So keep up the good work.

Interesting base - technically especially the "camouflage" of the transition between ingame water and the PEG water tiles. Hmmm .. but it can't be a military base or it would have been covered ... you know because of all that secret military Semiconductor Hybride Instrument Testing there ...

    Have a great time!

    rw0381c

Salut Rheal, (seeing the Moncton icon in your avatar I assumed you speak french!) By the way if you're in Moncton don't forget to go see the hockey game tonight!

Yes Porkissimo's Library is one of his finest! And as far as my skills are concerned I believe anyone can do it as long as you take your time. (And SAVE often, as we don't have an UNDO button!)

The rest is simply a question of imagination.

    Take care!

    Threestooges

    Hey threestooges!

For the sub pen opening see the answer to Goin2Chicago just a bit lower. I thought about the idea of saying that to come in or out they had to submerge but that would not be very practical in case we want to bring in another kind of vessel to service the subs! So for now I'll go with the explanation given below to Goin2Chicago.

Thanks for your kind words and welcoming to page 88!

    Take care.

Rooker1 - Xania a tour of my world

Hey Rooker, all is fine, and you? how's Matias?

It's not that difficult you know, I make it look harder than it really is... WINK... nahhhh! Really it's more a thing of patience than skill. lots of trial and error, main thing being before trying anything that can be destructive, SAVE! and if it comes to worse you exit the city and load it again. Chris (Dragon Anime) gave me the submarines, he made the lot and asked me if I could place them somewhere in Anduin Valley. At the time (a long time ago) I had a vague idea about some science complex, but thinking about Chris subs, I suddenly thought of a NUMA base, and the rest is what you've seen so far. Tolfalas was inspired by Chris challenge!

And I'm as surprised as you about the number of pages so far! readers have been great supporting AVR! Let's see were it'll go!

    Take care!

Jacky (jacqulina) - CJ: "Just wanted to show you my terraforming"

Thanks Jacky, as for Sloppet's avatar, what can I say, I just could not refuse a request from another Grommit fan!

    See you!

Justanothersim86 - Justanothersims Civic BAT Projects

    Welcome to Anduin Valley Justanothersim.

Glad you appreciate! How much time??? Certainly too much LOL

Seriously, these days not much, the pics you're seeing now are from several weeks ago, usually I would play between 1 to 2 hours almost each day. I was in Ottawa, beginning of april, it was great. Beautiful city!

    Take care

Szarkoz - The Free Democratic Nation of Caledonia

Hey Szarkoz, first let me congratulate you on the success that your new CJ is having! You're doing a bang up job there! People go see Szarkoz's creation, it's worth a visit!

As for AV becoming a military power, no not exactly! Don't forget that those are scientific research vessels, that can also be used for any rescue mission. But AV has no military vision... not yet.

As for Smaug, well, I had to make some small allusion to Tolkien work, the base being named Dragon Base in reference to Chris who gave me the lots! So Smaug came up!

Again Szarkoz, great work on your CJ! Keep it up!

    Take care

    Phil (PhilsCafe) - Acorn Creek

    Bonjour Phil, comment vas-tu?

Yeah with the snow gone, we all want to be outside! Here, we've just finished the chores around the house last weekend, raked the old leaves, cleaned the grounds, install the swing (la balançoire), (in which it's so great to read in the summer with a cool drink and some munchies close at hand!) well you get the picture! I just finished two books lately, and if you liked The Da Vinci Code, you'd like thes two also, they are written by Steve Berry - The Third Secret, and -The Romanov Prophecy - very good books! (If you like the genre)

Don't worry about the subs, we have great sub captains in AV! And if they scratch the paint, they'll pay for it on their salary! LOL

S_A_'s Cycleways are a joy to work with! and they add so much!

Il est toujours agréable d'avoir de tes nouvelles!

    Take care and see you!

P.S. I just saw that you've updated Accorn creek, I'm goin' there right now!

    Tracker - Graph X Services

Hey Tracker, addictive! yikes! I just hope AVR wont have any bad side effects on you!

As for the link, well it's just a small thing, and if it can help you and others then I'm glad to do it!

    Take care

    BeaucePower - Hack Plains

Hey Beaucepower, Welcome to Anduin Valley!

Glad if I can be of any help terraforming wise, but if you want more pointers about that, I suggest that you read Jeronij's Sculpting Columbia River from the beginning, it's a rich mine of information and tricks!

Hey, by the way, Beauce-Nord or Beauce-Sud?

    See you!

    Going2Chicago

As we can't plop PEG water tiles at water level, I had to devise a way to simulate a submarine base just above sea level, so, playing with the raise terrain tool I raised it just enough to clear the water, then level it, then plop PEG's water tiles BUT how to connect the sea with PEG's tile! That's why I used PEG's waterfall, and putting it between two of Jeroni's breakwater (they are incredibly realistic by the way!) I tried to have this looks like the incoming and outgoing of the waves, like the entrance of a lagoon, not a waterfall per se. (yeah yeah I know I have a vivid imagination WINK )

Anyhow, so far it's the best way I could devise to simulate it. As for the gullet being narrow, right you are, but we have the best sub drivers on this side of the ocean!

    Take care!

    Cjah - Callisto

What can I say... thanks for your enthusiasm!

You'll see below in my answer to Nik-Nik (this time I typed my response from bottom to top, it's kind of weird, I think I'll revert to the ol' way next time!) that the idea of using PEG tiles came from necessity, (Chris challenged me with his submarine tiles!).

I think that together we can find answers to (almost) any problem!

Really glad to see that AVR can still inspire some ideas!

    See you and take care!

    SpecialEddie

Hi Eddie, nope this ain't the Clipper Watermod, If I remember correctly it's either Auckland Water Texture by timotheus4 OR Realistic Water V1 By Joerg And Teirusu by karybdis , I think it's the latter, Auckland is more opaque to the look and is perfect for industrial seaport setup, while the blueishgreenish is darker and as a kind of "transparency" to it, well not really, but as it is about the same colour as the Saint-Lawrence river I guess I'm kind of partial to that one and it does match quasi perfectly with PEG water tiles

    Take care

    Sloppet

Don't mention it, and don't worry about the bill, and thanks for the appreciation!

    MS (magpieshooter) - Kinata Region

Hey MS! How could it be otherwise?

About the weak shin, I honestly don't know. It's purpose being a scientific and sometimes rescue one, I sure hope it's a sound ship!

And the ideas came because of the nature of the lots themselves, (see the answer to Nik-Nik below).

Those Peg water tiles matched almost exactly the water mod I'm using so it was an easy thing.

    Take care mate!

Jason -(Aldara6166) - Modular Amusement park thread

    Hey Jason, how's it going?

HA! I must have been doing something good to get you out of your lurking/batting/modding/working/taking care of your many kids/and wife!(most important)... in fact.... what are you doing here! you don't have the time my friend, go back to the MAPP and work!

Seriously, thanks for stopping by! But to tell you the truth, I doubt very much that you'll see anything "heavier" than this military speaking. But then again... we'll see if any other ideas come by!

Take care, and best wishes to the family!

    Bat

    Thanks for your support Bat!

    Nik-nik

Hehehe, watch your keyboard my friend, drooling can be murder on those circuits!

It was just necessity that drove me to using them that way, if Chris would not have challenged me with those submarine pieces, I wouldn't have thought of using them like this I'm sure. The say that necessity is the mother of invention.... I guess it's true!

I was sure you would notice the big bully boat! Now (thanks to you) I know how to avoid it! (learning every day!)

Always good to read you Nik!

See you next time, take care!

    Pika (Pikatchoum) - San-Esteban

Hey Pika, I hope you had a good time on vacation!

Yep the small lots were a small test run I was doing on the LE, still learning!

As for the use of Peg water, I had to, as Chris's (DragonAnime) submarines are included in those water tiles. So I had to devise a way to create a seaport with those PEG water tiles!

The submarines are DaragonAnime's creation, I don't know if he plan to releas them on the stex, the crane is part of the dry dock, I'll have to query the lot in the game, I think I find it on a japanese site.

The beach is Beach Modd by teirusu and you have many choices of beach color, enjoy!

    ThomasAH - Valentinovsk&Liberty by eggie99 & ThomasAH

Hey Thomas, sorry about your CJ man!

The submarines were given to me by DragonAnime, I don't know if he plans to upload them to the stex though, you'll have to ask him.

    Thanks for your kind words!

    Tot Ziens!

    Mightygoose - Newville

Thanks MG, I should have been more precise in my answer, sorry, what I should have said was that I added those Peg lots, to create kind of a heavy machinery parking lot... and so it'll stay like that...until all the machinery will be shipped out WINK!

    See you!

    wouanagaine - Genesus

Hehehe, yes, SC4 Is very often a lesson in patience and humility, in a way that I can't always achieve what I have in mind and sometimes it can be a bit frustrating! Heh! nothing's perfect.

But you're right patience is indeed the main ingredient!

Thanks for your kind words and take care

    Fabiocb - RASEC

Hi Fabio, well the island is quite small, in fact there's only about four updates left for the whole thing, the next sector will be entirely residential, bet then again it'll be to the island scale, very small, those who live on the island are only some resident researchers and lab assistants, the visiting scientists live at the hotel seen in the first sector.

Good to see you again Fabio!

    Take care!

    ElmarO

    Thanks ElmarO!

The cycleways are really great looking, once you get used to work with the long curves they're a breeze to play with!

    Take care

    Gutten tag meine freund!

If you've read the other answers, particularly the one for Going2Chicago, you'll see that I didn't have many ways to achieve it, and I didn't want a closed sub pen, I wanted an open (well, kind of) port. Would have been easier if I could have plopped the subs directly into the water, but...

And no it's not a military base, I don't particularly like all those Secret Holographic Intermittent Transmitters.

My friend it's always good to read you!

    Have a great weekend!

    Machs Gut!

Impressive! Are you going to add some housing for the scientists and sub base workers?
