I was on the forums and noticed this glitch.

The "big dig" topic was in another category but was supposedly in the city journals section

I don't know if this is anything significant or if it's just a glitch.  just thought that i'd give a heads up

Boggy1, I've noticed that too.  The worst thing is there is no way to delete them, which can be extremely annoying for CJers.  I think it might be a side-effect of pasting from Microsoft Word.  But I'm not sure.

The problem with some topics appearing in the wrong category has been discovered by quite a few people. Hopefully, Dirk will be able to sort it out.

(On a side note, some posts have thousands of "<<"s in them. And stuff like "interlace170<<" covering the world. Pretty annoying.)

I'm not sure whether this problem has been reported before (because I haven't taken the time to look back and read 11 pages full of comments ), but here goes.. 

For the past few days I've been trying to download some things from the Modds and Downloads section and have been unable to do so..

Here's the problem:

I've been trying to download the NoOneWayArrows mod by Tropod, so when I search the Modds and Downloads section with "OneWay", I immediately get the appropriate entry. When I right-click the download button to download, instead of a zip-file, I get a 'download.htm' file.. When I left click it, nothing happens..

When I then proceed to click on the link that reads 'NoOneWayRoadArrows', the window refreshes and I get the same information. The link that I had clicked earlier has dissappeared, but there still is a 'download' link. When I left click that, the same problem as described above arises.. Right clicking also leads to the earlier described problem..

This same issue takes place when trying to download other stuff from the Modds and Download section..

Just thought I should let you guys know..

Over the last few days I have been getting a lot of "Service Unavailable" errors, time outs etc., I assume this is down to heavy server load which I thought the upgrade was meant to address. Mind you, it comes back quick enough so as not to be a real nuisance, though I think this was the reason one of my uplaods to the STEX failed recently.

I thought that Dirk had updated only the software so far...I didn't think he had taken the whole site down yet to switch it to a new server machine...anyone know for sure?

I can't download anything. It says i'm logged in only when i'm in the forums but when i'm anywhere else (like the downloads area) it says i'm not logged in. When I try to log in from there it says my password (my right one) is incorrect. I have done the forgot my password thing but the one it gives me doesn't work either. Plzzz help!!!

atmonello: For your second question, try clearing your cookies and internet cache and allow pop-ups from Simtropolis. Try again and it should work.

You can use the Edit button in the bottom right corner of your post as an alternative to double posting.

Yes, that has been done already.

Boggy1: That can actually be edited out.  It's a pain, but it also existed before the upgrade too.  Also, it does have a tendency to happen with pasting from MS Word, so be sure to use that paste feature.

The Moose Factory thread was spammed by a couple of people running long strings of text so that the browser image was twice as wide as the screen.  We need a fix to fold text at some nominal screen width to prevent such a nuisance.

EDIT Later:  When working in the PM section, it would be nice if, once you have selected a section to work in, like the sent folder, you were not returned on each action to the inbox.

Hmmm, I don't think I've seen this posted here, but I can't be the only one it affects.... Whenever I do a "Reply" (not a "Quick Reply", though) to a post, it posts okay, but then I can't access Simtropolis for a few minutes afterwards; I just get the "Page Unavailable" screen. Weird.

In the reply popup window, there are two 'list' buttons in the middle row, first and second from the left. Click one of 'em, either bulleted or numbered, and something like this will show up:

Type whatever you want, and push return/enter and the numbers will keep going. To stop the list, click the list button again.

But the bulleted ones I have trouble with

As you see the numbered ones show up nicely, but there are no bulllets in front of the buleted ones

There is a thread in the modding r+d forum called "File Formats, The Positioning formats (RUL, and Sc4path)"

I found it by doing a search then realized  it didn't show up in the forum.  I replied to it and it appeared at the top.  it may be fixed, but I want to suggest that it be pinned, since it is very important.

I'm a bit confused (and miffed). My BAT Open Discussion thread (https://www.simtropolis.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=37&threadid=73750&STARTPAGE=4&FTVAR_FORUMVIEWTMP=Linear) has lost the links (sorta) to all the latest pics I posted. I haven't checked it in a couple of weeks but when I went to update it today i noticed all the pics don't show (little x boxes show instead). The images all showed just fine a couple of weeks ago. What happended ? Is the link format supposed to be different now ?

When I check the properties of the images they still (sorta) point to the right off-site pics but the link info looks different than what I originally used. It appears to want a url type format now whereas originally I had to use the img type format for the link. What's the correct link info format now ?

dunno if it was reported but in file information (the popup window) clicking on the top link with Author nick gives nothing (go backs to ST Exchange, to the first page), does not filter file list, usless link

I'm having a couple of problems:

1. My text formatting is all messed up when I post from my Mac using Safari.

This is posted at work using Mozilla on Solaris and the formatting is fine.

2. I'm having trouble posting pictures.

I put some pictures up last night, hosted at photobucket, and they were showing fine under Safari.
