Skyscrapers and Large R buildings
BBGun06 replied to Temelin's topic in SimCity 4 General Discussion
You have to remember to build out before you can build up. It takes a lot of low density to get the population needed for the skyscrapers. Region play is vital, you may not see skyscrapers until you get 300,000+ region pop. And then only with all amenities. So, keep playing, don't give up, and eventually you will see large buildings. BTW, most CJ downtowns are plopped. -

The tracks run from a city of 265,000 to two cities of 50,000 each. The track might not draw right, but I tested it and it works in UDI. they use the bus and regular train quite a bit, but not hsr. BTW, i use better pathfinding with the NAM, maybe that's affecting it? I'll keep testing to find out

always remember, build out before up. Look at cities in Real Life: Tampa, FL - a dozen or so high rises in the center, sprawl for 20 miles in every direction.

I can't seem to get anyone to ride it!? I checked the tracks for breaks because they are easy to miss, but maybe I just haven't expanded it enough yet. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? They use bus and passenger rail, but not HSR, If I get rid of the rail... nothing! another city: ...two riders?!

Carpool incentive ordinace pointless
BBGun06 replied to mikemac's topic in SC4 Modding - Open Discussion
From what I understand, the carpool ordinance makes each car represent 1.2 people instead of 1. This means that about 1/5 of people are now sharing a ride to work. -
I'm quite fond of Neal Stephenson's vision of the future: The Federal government has collapsed under it's own weight. All services previously provided by the government, (police, schools, mass transit, and so on) are run by private companies. A few states have become independent countries. The rest of the former USA is unincorporated sprawl dotted by small city-states. Franchises have become the only profitable businesses. As the government imploded, it sold off most of it's assets. The Interstates and US Highways are now privately owned toll roads. Military hardware, including naval vessels, have been sold to private owners. The Dollar is hyperinflated to the point that quadrillion notes are 'small' bills. The real world has so many problems that people retreat into the Metaverse, which is like a virtual reality internet.
