ST5.0..just doesnt really scream out good impressions. I'll stick around until we have smoothed out all the bugs and stuff...but...I may be taking regular breaks from ST...

Thanks for the upgrade Dirk and staff .... I really like the new layout and find that the navigation of the site falls in line with my style of browsing more than the past incarnation.

I do have a question, is there a Posted Today option that I am missing? I see the Latest Topics button, but it only seems to be for new topics started.

Yes, yes, yes, yes... this is, let me count, the third time we changed forums, and the fifth time we changed skins... so I've heard it all before. It's going to take some getting used to, but we did not flippantly decide on changing the forum software just because there was nothing else to do.

Recall the numerous problems we had with the previous system - recall all the deadlocks, timeouts and hangs.

There is a reason why not ALL forums are listed on one page, there is a reason why things are laid out the way they are. In order to get the improvement in performance that we want, we have to sacrifice some of the excessive niceties we were used to.

After all, the whole point of the upgrade was to make things better -- for everyone, not just for you, so if you don't like it, I'm sorry.

Keep in mind that this forum is in a language I'm quite familiar with, and therefore, making mods to it will be fairly easy. Already, I created a mod to bring back our old custom labels -- this forum actually does not allow you to assign labels to users (only automatically by post count, which is a little dated).

Stick around, this is only our first day on the new ship, so more good things are coming. The reason why we were down for almost a week was because we were testing the heck of this system. Granted, not all issues are resolved -- the migration of data from one forum software to another is a huge undertaking. But I think we did pretty well.

The old smilies will return, little doodads that you're familiar with will reappear -- all in due time. You didn't want to wait another week did you?

Well... on one hand we have the greatest simcity 4 site in the universe...

but on the second one, why did you changed the forum software.. so what that ideallbb was slow... but it was.. it was....

I'm sure dirk is sad to read all those bad xcomments about the new ST.com... he put so much work in it, and that's why this site is BIG, it will always be, and that's why simtropolis will never die....

I've got so many new personal options I've gotta decide which I like best! I think this definately is a step forward and it really allows us to use the site as we would like... it just will take some getting used to.

I guess more than trying to discover how (or if) you could subscribe, I'm wondering if we'll get our old subscriptions back, or if we'll need to re-subscribe to everything... It isn't a problem, either way, but if it's going to come, then it the legwork done by the ones transferring the old system over would not need to be done by the individual users. In other words, if it's going to come eventually, then I won't have to do it all myself, but if I know that it's NOT coming, then I'll get to work resubscribing!
