Sorry for the nastiness... just something about his post set me off, don't know why.

I tend to get, more than a bit high&mighty around here since I'm a VERY big poster on another forum. There, there really isn't a $%&^! problem, or thread upon thread of redundant, pointless questions. I guess it just gets to me here since its such a big diference.

But eh, putting that aside. Even though it didn't happen in the best of ways, I got what I asked for. Its like walking through a rasberry patch to get to the same place that a walk on a path would have gotten you. Mhmm...

Anyway, best of luck with the pathing files.

The Computer Rendering Of the finished product looks like an elevated version of the Amtrak Northeast Corirdor. The New Accela Express Trainsets Are permantly Coupled TGVs, Don't ask me what TGV stands for its French and but it is the type of engine that pulls bullet trains. The notheast coridor now has do ground crossings. These 700 US ton locomotives weigh twice as much as a disel engine. I have rarely seen a bullet train travel underground, or on overpasses for long distances. Usuly when i drive these trains there are a couple (2) tunnels, and quite a few bridges (Usualy over rivers but i've never ssen this thing go over a street. These High speed trans can travell up to 165 MPH! Thats 2 and 1/2 times US Avrage freeway Speed limit!  Literaly Breaking the sound barier! The highest operating speed on amtrak's route is 135 MPH.

The HHP-8s wich can be (un- & re-) coupled to pasenger cars.

Amtrak is looking at geting those on the california route bfore the year 2020.  At the Speed of amtrak's Acela  that wloud make the trip from San Deigo to Sacramento, 504 miles, A 1 day trip by car if you don't stop. At 135 MPH it wloud take 2 3/4 hours. about how long it takes to go form San Deigo to Los Angles.

I Have included some photos of the Acela Trains.

I do belive that if this package goes through pepole will be requesting a driveable city to city Conection, due to the speed of this train. It can travel form one side of a city to another in aprox. 2 min. and if that were converted into sim time it wloud be 2 seconds.

ck125667- you are right in the fact that the trains are normaly on the grounnd. i have never seen it elecated for along peroid of time and i have riden the whole route. The only possible place could be the hells gate bridge but that s a bridge as you said.

TGV means Trains Grande Vetessi or something like that.

As for the HHP-8 How could they get those in califronia if that isn't electrified?

However saying what I have said the amount of tunnels, bridges, and elevated sections depends on the terrain. Look at japan?

ck135667 Highspeed trains in Japan run entirely elevated. Also the top operating speed for HST in Japan is 300km/h (185mph). In countries like Germany and France the normal operating speed on dedicated highspeed rail sections is 300km/h. The TGV holds the speed record at 515km/h (320mph)! That's ridiculous.

I don't even know why I'm making this post now...gaaa.....

Not to be rude or anything, but Just to clarify ck125667, i believe the highest speed on the NEC is 150 MPH which is currently achieved by the Acela Express, which only goes that fast twice, the REST of the time it goes about 125-135 MPH, which is the standard cruising speed of the AEM-7's and HHP-8's. Hey jbridgman if you want to see a really fast Shinkansen go here,

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=2926400396387878713&q=maglev

It may be a maglev, but it is still going 500+ KPH 9.gif

As for Official HSR like the TGV

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=5340916522432537830&q=TGV Interior

or the Acela and HHP-8

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=2229134702285599680&q=TGV HHP-8

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=1373570986292914540&q=TGV Acela Express

Gotta love that woosh!

Just found these to.9.gif

Wow I just realized this is my first Post!!!!

The speed of sound is 1235 km/h or 761 mph. The fastest commercial train in the world is the Shanghai maglev, which travels at 430 km/h (267 mph) in regular service. Even this is only one-third the speed of sound.

The New Accela Express Trainsets Are permantly Coupled TGVs, Don't ask me what TGV stands for its French and but it is the type of engine that pulls bullet trains.quote>

The TGV is French, the Acela Express is American, and the bullet train is Japanese. The Acela Express is not a set of permanently coupled TGVs. It is pulled by its own engine, which looks somewhat like an HHP-8 with one cab. According to Wikipidia, "Although the design of the trains, with identical 6,000 horsepower power cars at each end, evokes France's TGV, the only component directly derived from the TGV is its 4 asynchronous AC traction electric motors (per power car). The tilting carriages are based upon Bombardier's earlier LRC trains rather than the TGV's articulated trailers, and the locomotives and passenger cars are much heavier than those of the TGV in order to meet North America's different approach to crash standards." Also, the bullet trains have their own engines. Oh, and TGV stands for Train à Grande Vitesse.

Sorry if this seems inflammatory, it's just that my friend forced me to memorize useless train facts, so these seem simple to me.

Don't worry I'm sure WHEN it is released we will all be able to have our TGV's, Acela's, Shinkansen and any other skinned version to play with! 19.gif
After all perfection takes time, and by the looks of some of the things in this topic, we may have more content then we know what to do with! 9.gif

Will it still give the same transit results as a monorail? I'm wondering how the speed factor will benefit its usage.

I think the speed just decreases the commute time.

Hey guys I'm modding my HSR file to go faster, befor I do that I was wondering if I make it too fast that it won't work. I tried maxing out a medical center pacient number and got a negivte number. So I just wanted to double check if theres a speed limit for it.

you may want to ask others. the people who've been here recently aren't the transit modders for the project.

yeah its pretty cool. a few months ago when this thing started me and another guy had his bullet train model set to run on the HSRP tracks. Its pretty good. APTX has got to fix the gap between the cars though...

Also i think its NAM-incompatible.

Just a friendly reminder - I'm sure you didn't mean it as a slur, but I would refrain from using the "Jap" abbreviation for Japanese. Though they may not post often, many from the Japanese SC4 community browse Simtropolis and "Jap" is a derogatory term that was common around WWII.

So... I guess it's safe to assume that the path files are still sitting on somebodies desk? Just so much time and effort went into this, I'd hate to see yet another amazing project be dropped.

@shasta and LP this is going to be a plugin for NAM and there probably wont be a new release before the new NAM comes out so I wouldnt be thinking this is "another lost project" The longer we wait for the new NAM the better it is going to be... When it does come out you will be praising those who worked on it so hard and so diligently. In my opinion be happy with what you have gotten already and be patient for the new release of NAM, because there will be some things you didnt expect I bet!
