I wanted to wake up 6 hours ago but didnt! Now I have 3 hours to reply to everything I have to on 6 forums, do homework for 3 classes and sort/put out garbage/recycling, and mom wont help because she just went to bed. good to know she supports me!21.gif (I need my really big sarcastic smile smilie)

I'll have 48fl oz of coffee and some roasted jalapeno peppers.

No particular reason for the peppers. I just like them.

@ mattc005:Niagara Falls Collegiate Vocational Institute, established 1893 at 1 Epworth Circle. I suspect it has gone the way of all good in-city properties, and now has houses on it. I received a notice in the late 1980's for the centennial that was to be held early for some reason. Probably it was going to be sold. The campus was out of space, and I think even the playing field had been consumed for buildings. I also went to SS#6 Public School in Stamford Township (as it was then) on Lundy's Lane. I think there is a McDonald's there now. Last time I was there, there was a restaurant at 2359 Lundy's Lane where I lived at one point. A long lab is a double period. With 77 minute periods you wouldn't need it. Ours were 40 minutes and we took about nine subjects per term. In my last year I took English (2 classes), Latin (2 classes), Algebra (Intro to matrices, etc.), Geometry (Cartesian), Trigonometry+Statics, Physics (Dynamics), Chemistry, and Problems. I don't know what the designators are now, but these were all university entrance stream. I was accepted at Queen's in Applied Science (Engineering). Teachers who teach the blackboard drive me wild. I spent the last 10 years in the workforce as a teacher in vocational colleges teaching computer sciences. You can't teach anything to that stupid blackboard, it just doesn't listen. Not only that but its memory is easily erased.

@ Leech10: With or without maggots? If you are trying to gross us out, you won't be able to.

@brancra: Well, a restaurant's attitude toward steaks depends on the policy of the restaurant. The policy of the Moose Factory is that no steak is edible past what many people call medium. The done-ness chart is

    • sangant - cold red centre
    • a point - hot red centre
    • cuit - hot pink centre
    • well - serve an old boot

@defcon pilot: Wake up! The service here is instantaneous. Food service complete. Since you didn't ask you got a Greek salad with your smoked salmon, onion rings, capers and diced hard-boiled egg yolk on iceburg lettuce.

@ vidioman: Large, extra strong coffee with roasted jalope

N_O_Body: It would be interesting if someone could actually determine why Americans don't seem to be very patriotic.  It seems that the primary time that we have patriotic surges (aside from terrorist attacks, but lets not go there) is during the Olympics or the Fourth of July.  I don't remember the poem going by that name, but I don't remember what the name was anyway.

brancra: You learned it during a history project huh.  I found that out while I was working on a research paper in English.

@ Leech10: done. I hope he enjoys it.

@ Voar Tok: Alas, the autosystem only produces food and drink. We don't have the trace elements to make computer chips. Gallium Arsenide is hard to get at the super market. Are you getting a new box?

@ Rymac91: A block of dried tomato soup concentrate is packaged and delivered. Just add hot water. Enjoy.

Hey Leech, what exactly is a ganatu?

Vidioman, I've seen what times you post at, and you couldn't be more than one time zone behind me at the very most. How much sleep do you get? I get this image of someone with huge bags under their eyes, and I hope you get at least some sleep at night. 24.gif

N_O_Body, do you feel it was worthwhile to learn Latin even though it's considered to be a dead language? I ask out of curiosity, being someone who had taken the five-year Spanish program to become fluent. I would think Latin would have its uses, especially in etymology, but is it worth it?

So much for the warm weather here. straight to -20 C and blizzard cinditions. I was afraid I'd have been snowed in at work. *That actually happened to me when I was in elementary (primary) school in 96'---and it stinks, let me tell you45.gif*.

^ Yes, my four years of Latin in high school got me through my year of Italian at University of Toronto. I needed some Italian because I was studying Opera and Keyboard Music in the Modern Era. Amazing what one takes for interest when you are a young IT type.

Many languages around the Mediterranean basin are called Romance languages because they are Latin based. The nearest Romance language to Latin is Romanian. You'd think it would be Italian, but Italian is modern Latin.

Italian lacks a lot of the uglier grammatical features of Latin, like declined nouns, but has its own charm. For example, the polite form of address in Italian is the third person feminine singular. Com'es ta (dialect) = Come state lei = How are you = Very litteraly How's she going. All based on the medieval greeting Spero che la vostra signoria e ben' I hope your highness is well.

    ciao.

Anyone here ever heard of JibJab.com ?
@N_O_Body: I like your new sig. How'd you manage to get those pics and put them together?
I will eat any salad. Makes no difference to me. Mmm, onion rings... I like to dip those in barbecue sauce.
That joke about the blackboard made me crack up.
And well - serve an old boot: 18.gif
@branca: He's more than three time zones ahead of me, and yet I was once chatting with him from midnight to 3:00 in the morning, which is like 3:00 to 6:00 in the morning for him! (That's what I can guess.)
@vid: Even a TV at full volume wouldn't be able to wake me up. Amazing, isn't it? I know, because I once slept with my clock radio put right up to my ear, and I didn't even crack an eye open when that thing went off.

@defcon pilot: This may turn out to interest everyone. My new sig is an animation from my test city for GLR. I got it by using a little known feature of SC4.

    1. Open the city
    2. CTRL+XrecorderCTRL+M This gets you a neat little frame in the upper left to control animation capture.
    3. Move and resize the capture frame. In this case to 50 x 300.
    4. Start the capture.
    5. When it finishes, save it. It goes in ...\SimCity 4\RecordedAnimations as individual frames
    6. close the game
    7. get your animation editor (I use Ulead GIF Animation 5)
    8. Open a 50 x 300 project
    9. Add in your frames (does it in one foul swoop)
    10. Delete the first (dead) frame
    11. Add the A Nonny Moose banner as you see it embellished
    12. Trim frames down to only include the banner overlays
    13. save the project as a GIF
    14. quit the editor
    15. publish the GIF on my site
    16. done

@Rymac91: Good for you. It doesn't take much for anyone who knows a little O/S stuff to fix up accounts. Cleaned your room?! My God, you must have reached your ultimate grunge level. Congratulations. See how nice it is to have your mother pleased with you.

Ahh, I wish.  The computer that I have been previously using (and am currently using right now) has become the property of another family member.  I have no clue when I'm going to get a replacement, and I'm sure that it won't be as good as this one.

Hmmm....Gallium Arsenide- the first thing that pops into my mind are the words DANGER: HIGHLY TOXIC. I took the advanced chemistry course at my high school, and even though it killed my average for a year, we were the only ones qualified to play with liquid hydrogen, bromine, mercury and other nifty substances. Actually, we ate marshmellows after dipping them in the liquid N2.

That's a shame about your computer Voar Tok. I rmemeber that my old computer couldn't play SC4 that well at all, since it was a 667 MHz. I waited a year, and then bought a slightly-used computer with my December paychecks. My computer was prob'bly my first big purchase. Best of luck on obtaining a new computer.

If it wasn't for defcon_pilot, I'd feel really awkward posting in here. Everyone has in some way been honoured by the community, whether by avatar name or award, and I have yet to contribute anything really special to earn those honours. I hope to change that someday.

Hi everyone! The way it goes, the Moose Factory should reach its 100th page really soon. I wonder what kind of ceremony we are going to do. Is there a special committee to deal with such an event? We'll need Champagne and great food as usual but we should have a little something more since the 100 mark is obviously a great event for a thread. What are you planning N_O_Body?

@Voar Tok: Lost your machine? Well, look around at used machines. You need at least a P3 with 512MB and a reasonable amount of disk. To play this game, you don't need much by way of a video card, but try for NVIDIA insteat of ATI. The game seems to like these cards better.

@ brancra: That's right. We stay away from toxic substances in general. However, we do serve spinach and rhubarb. Did you know that five pounds of raw spinach is the lethal dose? Oxalic acid poisoning is rather not funny. A single rhubarb leaf has enough Oxalic acid to kill a large animal. If you want to kill your dog, by the way, give him about 200g of pure cooking chocolate. The bromones will take him right out. My vet says every Chrismas they pump out a few dog stomachs when people get careless with chocolate gifts.

Yeah... there aren't many noobs in here, are there?

quote> But there could be. Everyone has been promoting this place in their sigs, but we only get a few newcomers. Vid, I wish you would lay off Steven Harper. That was offensive, and the election is over.

@ sloppet: Thank you sloppet. We have teleported a slice to dirk. Delicious. The autosystem was able to duplicate enough of your pizza to feed the whole crowd.

@Fred_Ginger: Good on you, lady. Your good work will not go unnoticed. I have the disk and it is well worth having. This is on the house. A glass of Pouligny Montrechat from the special reserve arrives.

@ zmveliger: Howdy there ol' wiggler. We really are not planning anything other than the usual fireworks display and maybe a special dinner party when the event occurs. It will be a while, but maybe you could select the wines for us. I was planning a general buffet with roast sirloin of beef, ham chaud/froid, fine salads, smoked salmon with the fixings, and moules mariniere. A fine vichy soisse or soupe a l'onion as opener, with a general antipasto plate for starters. Strawberries Romanoff, and Surprise Escoffier for dessert. Coffee, tea, fine old brandy.

^Spinach shouldn't hurt a zuke. 5 pounds is toxic to a person but it has to do with mg of Oxalic per Kg of body weight.

I was just racking my brains to get a connection between a monorail station and an elevated rail station and finally did this:

    PedMallExample.gif

The NAM does open some options, eh?

I think a semi-lethal dose for the weight of a zuke would be 1.7kg, but it would be broken down in the zuke's stomach just like anything else that went in there. (other than zuke armor)
