Ah yes, the ever-present current trend of naming roads after local politicians (I'm guessing that's who Birnen is). 10.gif

As sloppet said welcome to page 8...I wonder how this C.J. will do in 2006 and hopefully it will do as great as it did in 05!

I can't wait for the next few updates!44.gif

Nice R$ - seddlement. These little neo-romamesque / gothic chruches in the middle of the highrises reminds me always of the better examples of Batman etc or the church in The Crow - typical american - in Germany you see the towers quite far.

Nice touch with the b/w pic to show before / after!

HAPPY NEW YEAR MY FRIEND!!! 39.gif

May 2006 b at least as good as 2005!

Hello again. I have another small update for you.

    PERSONAL REPLIES

Darmok: Thanks for your feedback my friend. I'm glad you like my extensive use of parking lots. Public transport is rare in Portstown 2.gif. Thanks again for stopping by and take care.

oroen: Thanks for dropping by. And you're right, Mr Birnen indeed is a local politician. He has been murdered some time ago and his death caused quite a stir in AC, because he was young and popular. The Mayor certainly benefits from naming a parkway after him. Thanks again and take care.

sloppet: Thanks for opening page 8. Maybe it is a good sign, beginning the new year on a new page. Thanks again.

Cjah: Thanks for the welcome on a new page. As I said to sloppet, maybe that's a good sign. But anyways, I also hope that it'll do well this year. Thanks you and take care.

Simworld: Thanks a lot man. I'm glad you liked the update. 60F, eh? We had about 23 last week (but it wasn't enough to get a white Christmas...). Thanks for stopping by.

highstreet: Welcome to Acorn Creek. Thanks a lot for your visit, it's very much appreciated. I'm glad you like it.

Bernhard: Thanks a lot for the kind words my friend. I'm glad you like the church. I tried to show tradition (the influence of a European culture) in contrast to modern city building, if it's that what you mean with typically American. I also know America only from the movies 10.gif. And thanks for the well wishes. Take care and I hope you have a good one too.

jacqulina: Thanks for the kind words. It's great to see that you like it. I've seen some of your latest work in the 'show us your accomplishment' thread and I liked it a lot. I'm looking forward to your CJ. Thanks again and take care.

Compromise: Thanks for dropping by mate. I always appreciate your comments. I'm glad you liked the update. Again, thanks and take care.

Thanks for your great support during the last year everyone. It's always appreciated. Now enjoy this rather special update. Take care everyone.

    - Phil

I'm glad you bumped this because I missed the last update 1.gif I like the little maps--simple but get the point across and good for an overview and/or reminder of the region. And I know where the stadium is. 10.gif

    Looks good, Phil.

I'd suggest one thing there. Cut off that southern part of Downtown ward (the narrow section poking into the Docks), and add it to Portstown. Alternatively, you could all make that a new Ward. Just a suggestion. 3.gif

But excelllent work on the map.

Looks great Phil.  I really like the map you made of the area.  Very nicely done and I can't imagine how much time you have into that.  I also liked the newspaper.....nice mix of real world stories in there.  Have a great weekend man.

    Hi Phil
I usually like to read right through a CJ to get all the back-story, and I'm especially glad I did in this case... there are a few twists in this tale. Seems like Acorn Creek can be a dangerous place at times.

Your newspaper looks great (reminds me of the Montreal gazette somehow) and it is very well written.
It really helps convey the story well.
I also like the way you've laid out your pictures, your journal has a nice flow to it.

I look forward to reading more on this story... and to see the continuing city development, of course!
I'll be dropping by again soon

Great CJ, Great Maps, Great Story, Great test.  10.gif  I agree w/ Darmok the stadium is just south of the NE Beltway.  A game, McDonalds and Walmart - I see you got a trifecta.9.gif

    Nice stadium!

It is really realistic at its current location. The fast food near it and the large amount of parking available to the public is really awesome!

I'm afraid, no update today. But let me reply to your great comments:

    PERSONAL REPLIES

oroen: Thanks for stopping by. I intended to add something special to that update and then I came up with this, just for fun. I was surprised how it turned out, I've never looked at Acorn Creek this way. I'm glad you like it. Take care.

SA: Thanks a lot for your feedback, I really appreciate that. Keeping your suggestion in mind, I'll redistrict that area as soon as there is some more developemt in that area. Thanks again for commenting, I'm glad you like the map. Take care.

Ah yes, Ive looked past the last two updates, and even though they are small they still have that... thing to them. I would never be able to get that affect, even if it was as simple as photoshopping it! lol, but really, this CJ is still good, and I like that newspaper!

Thanks for the comments in mine!

A Message from the author: I'm a little out of touch with the region because I haven't played it lately... but there will be a small story update very soon, probably on Monday. In the meantime, take care everybody and thanks for your great support.

dev: Hometown USA, eh? I like that... Welcome to Acorn Creek and thanks a lot for that compliment. I'm glad you liked it.

nealos: Hey thanks mate. I'm still not sure what you mean with that effect (in fact it could be a photoshopped one... I heavily edit all of the pictures), but I'm glad you still like them. Thanks a lot for your support. Take care.

sloppet: Thanks for stopping by. It's always great to hear that people care about my CJ. I hope your question is answered. Otherwise don't hesitate to ask again... thanks again man.

Being a fan of cartography, I really like that map you've made! And Ronald Tromp? Haha!18.gif Brilliant!

Nice to see a city journal that isn't a sea of skyscrapers!
