Hey my good friend Phil29.gif

That is funny how we are both building ports at the same time9.gif
I like the use of Marrast's sea walls combined with Pegs CDK lots my friend. I have forgotten about Marrast's sea walls. They work very well in your port area44.gif. Your city is really coming along nicely mate. You have a nice combo of res, coms and industry within close proximity of each other44.gif
Very well done my friend.19.gif I guess the only thing perhaps you might consider changing is the Garbage Dump is a bit too close to what appears to be High Tech buildings34.gif
Nonetheless this was a very good update buddy.
Take care for now44.gif

Hey Phil, great update.  I really like the way you setup some of your parking lots around the commercial areas.  I also liked the look of the port area, especially the shot of the garbage trucks going around in circles....2.gif

Hey Phil
Good update buddy!
I particularly like the port area, good mix of Peg's CDK and Marrast's seawalls. And I really wonder how you could connect that bridge in the last pic! are those NAM pieces on the water?
Good work man!

No real update today, but some...

    PERSONAL REPLIES

Steve: Hey buddy, thanks a lot for your feedback. I like the marrast embankment, 'cause this can be combined with nearly everything. You can get a dirty, industrial look, but also a more 'wealthy' one, depending on the pieces you combine them with. As far as the mixed zones are concerned, Portstown District will be mainly industrial and since it always was a rather poor place, people can't afford to travel too long...1.gif.
You're probably right about the dump. I just had to find a place for it quickly, because garbage was going to take over... I thought it would look good near the port, but then the HT industry began to grow... bad luck. I'll change that in one of the next updates. Thanks again for your constant support my friend.

Dan: Thanks for posting man. Hehe, I haven't noticed the trucks before... I focused on the overall setting, although I usually try to get as much 'action' into a picture as possible, but well, this time I was just focusing on the port... Also thanks for the welcome to page 7 (I never thought I'd get this far).

Darmok: Thanks for your kind words my friend. I'm glad you liked the port so far. There is more to come. The bridge you mentioned is the ingame 'Sydney Harbour Bridge'. Just that it's too short for another arch, so that's what it looks like. I really liked it this way, especially with the extended sand banks. Take care man.

Thanks everyone for your support. It's really appreciated. I try to have another update soon.

    -Phil

Hey my friend. You know there is a way to not worry about garbage. Check out Radical Ordinance MOD . I know some folks don't like using these MODS at all, but I find using some at least lets you concentrate more on creating and less on maxis default management. You can at least not worry about Maxis ridiculous garbage demand28.gif Just a thought mate. No shame either way44.gif

    Take care buddy44.gif

I like that big overview and the way you labeled it. Though dhoppeii already said it I must commit building the runway into the water was a brilliant idea!

Hey phil, I see this CJ still going strong - the crisp pictures - the atmosphere - the layout of the roads - I especially love the port, that little sign of nature and then the shipping docks. Cool transition.  9.99/10, no one could have done it better!

No rush on your next update, RL is demanding like we both know!

    Hi Phil
I can only second Mr Beer. Cheers.

I like how your simple but efficient and appealing presentation, e.g. the way you highlight the routes and highways. You prove that small pictures often look better than large shots.
I like the port too, and the road layout, and the shape of the hill.

This journal looked promising in the beginning, and through all the pages it has remained a fine and very appealing journal.

Wow, I'm speechless about all these great comments. *Tries to regain his speech*...

    PERSONAL REPLIES

Steve: Thanks a lot for your constant support and for poining me to this mod. I haven't yet used it though, because as you said, it is quite radical. But maybe I'll use it some day. Thanks again buddy and take care.

Mex: Thanks for visiting again buddy. I really appreciate that. And I'm glad you like the region view. As you can see, I'm a pretty slow builder...2.gif. Take care.

Simworld: Thanks for your visit and the feedback. And take it easy... 10.gif lol. I'm glad you like the port. It took me ages and a lot of patience to do just that small part with the PEG pieces. And the abandond houses will vanish once I've done the whole area around the port. Thanks again for visiting.

Deathtoall: Thanks a lot for stopping by. I'm glad you like that part of the port. I thought it needed a little eye candy, so I went crazy with the Marrast Embankment. Good to hear that it turned out nicely. Take care.

jacqulina: Thank you very much for your kind words 43.gif. It's always great to have you here. About the port, I think I still have to do a lot of detail work. Not in that particular area, but in the port area in general. Thanks again for your constant and friendly support. And congratulations to your Trixie!. Take care.

Bernhard: 43.gif Thank you for your kind words and continous support. I'm glad you like the overview. It was the first time I did it like this, maybe I'll keep it that way. And about the airport: I was kinda forced to do it like this and then I realized it was a nice touch... thanks again and take care my friend.

Compromise: Thank you very much for all your support. I really appreciate it. And yes, I think this CJ is still going well, although I'm a little short on updates at the moment. Thanks again man.

Nealos: Thanks a lot for that fantastic rating mate. I like that transition too especially its contradiction. There'll be more of it... later. Take care.

Mr. Beer: Welcome to Acorn Creek! Thanks for your feedback. It's diffucult to lend character to a fictional place. I also try to get there with the presentation sytle, maps and news reports. I'm glad you like it. Take care.

Dannato: Thanks a lot for your feedback about the CJ in general. I really appreciate it. And as far as the picture size is concerned, I like small pictures. They give me more opportunities for editing them. This way I can highlight details better and cut out what I don't like. I think got the idea. Thanks again and take care.

I'd like to thank everyone who nominated me for a Trixie. The nomination means a lot to me. And a big thank you to all the readers for all your great support and patience. I feel bad for not posting so long due to RL... I palyed SC4 quite a bit since my last update. But I try to get you a proper update around christmas.

Hi Philscafe - I am so sorry I have been an absolute hermit lately - and not commenting in Acorn Creek *smacks self in the head*

Anyway - I really like the way you built the beltway and the storyline in your paper is interesting as well (and resolutely non revolutionary, war or multinational crisis - very refreshing - and very different from my CJ *grin*) Keep up the good work 44.gif

But surely - your beltway project has a certain grace to it - the way it melds into the city is something astonishing - and something very hard to acheive. I salute you for making a highway graceful *smile* 44.gif

    PERSONAL REPLIES

toxicpiano: Thanks for stopping by. I'm glad you like it. And I don't really own a cafe. I don't even like coffee actually...

Bernhard: Thanks a lot my friend. I'm glad you like the newspaper. And I'm sure a newspaper would be a nice touch in Urland. Thanks for stopping by. Take care.

Compromise: Thanks mate. I always try to connect this CJ with the real world. I think it's funny when you read the headlines and think, hey I've just read that somewhere else as well... I'm glad you like it. Take care.

Dan: Thanks for that compliment my friend. I actually planned to cut down on newspaper updates... I'll think about changing my mind now. Thanks again and take care.

Darmok: That's okay Darmok. For one second I thought you really can't read... 2.gif. Thanks for stopping by and leaving these nice words. Take care my friend.

slann: What's wrong with you? I'll send some troops to Valmont right away... just kidding of course! No problem about that mate. Thanks so much for your kind words about the highway and newspaper. I really appreciate it. Take care.

sloppet: Thanks for your kind words man. I'm glad you liked it.

So many replies. Thank you everyone for your amazing support. Now enjoy this small update.

Great update, I very much like the area between the railway line and the shore, with the walls, the embankment and the coral reefs. Great how you can even see the sand underneath the stones!

Hello everyone. After the small Christmas update, I'm going back to business with another regular City Tour update, right after the...

    PERSONAL REPLIES

sloppet: Why thank you. Always great to see you here. I'm glad you liked the update. Take care man.

jacqulina: Thank you so much for that vote of confidence. I now have started with the rest of the port. It might take me a while though... Thanks for the well wishes as well. I did have a great Cristmas. Take care.

Dannato: Thanks for stopping by. I'm glad you liked the shoreline. I think the shoreline is quite a sensitive part, because it is so exposed. And I sure had a merry Christmas. Thanks again and take care.

Darmok: Thanks a lot the kind words my friend. I'm tryin' to get a bit of a works quarter look there. Maybe you can already see that. And I'm glad you liked the church. I've changed it to gascooker's UK church though. I thought St Micheal's was too dominant there... hope you like it anyways.

Simworld: Thanks a lot for your feedback. Great to see that you've read the article with such attention. But it's not that far south actually. The temperatures in Acorn Creek are comparable to places in Northern California (Sacramento or S.F.). It's still quite warm for my taste 10.gif. Take care.

Thanks everyone for your visit. Now, I hope you all enjoy the update! It's a little bit of a D

    Good one Phil,
I agree, that new church does fit better!
I like the parkway shots, never have too much parking space in a city!
And it looks like you'll celebrate the new year before us! here it's 10 hours 34 minutes 29 no 28 wait...27 seconds!
Well have a great one anyways! 18.gif39.gif
