Acorn Creek Region - An American Story

...well, sooner or later the word gets around to everyone...

I've got excuses, though.  ST and I have had, well...let's call them issues lately.  So gatting Acorn Creek...

...a bona-fide classic (but I've already said that)...

...back on the radar screen with only a or so's lag time isn't too bad.

Nice paper.  Ancillary content is the hardest SC4 thing to do well, but you know that, my friend.

It's good to see that you didn't just survive your bout with terraformitis- you thrived.  I'll be watching for great stuff on the new map.

Hope RL will lighten up some more.  I face a challenging next five months or so as well.  We'll have to get together, someday, at a cafe on the shore of Lake Constance

and commiserate.

...I rode a bicycle around LC once- one of the lesser known benefits of military service in Europe...

jacqulina: Thank you for that nice compliment Jacky. I have to admit, my goals are quite high with this map... it has to be unique, realistic and, of course, playable. Wouanagaine's tool is a big help, but it's still terraforming (I guess you'll know what that means ). There's a lot of haphazardness in that process -- which makes it quite interesting though. I was thinking of using cycledogg's 'Missouri Breaks' or 'Italia' terrain mod to get a California look... we'll see. asturianu: Thank you very much for stopping by again, Cristian. As for the map, I'm far from finished yet, there will be lots more mountains... I'm planning to do a Californian style coastal valley and what you see are the small coastal ranges, I haven't done the back-country yet. But there will still be enough flat land for a sprawling city of course .

dedgren: Glad to see you back David . I know what you mean, the sudden server timeouts can be annoying sometimes. Great to see you dug out that map... Lake Constance area is a beautiful region. My best experience there was also with the military, btw. If you haven't seen the Lake Lucerne area, I recommend to visit that one sometime as well... Unfortunately I haven't had the chance to play Acorn Creek since my last update one month ago, so the "replies" is basically all I have at the moment... I also made little progress with the SC4TF map, maybe I'll get to show you some more pictures of it later.

Great job so far phil. I like how you showed your slums, most people dont show the bad parts of their city in CJ's. Did you purposefully make slums or did it happen by accident?

Good question: Well, the slums I did on purpose... it is easy to get low wealth development near industry when there are more attractive areas... and then I just made them historical. I wanted to show all facettes of a city... every city has its bd parts, this makes it realsitic. I'm glad you menioned that detail.

Sorry to hear that Acorn Creek came to an end!

But I can understand your dilemma between spare time vs what you want to accomplish.

Thanks for sharing this CJ with us, it was truly unique and personal, and to me those are the most important qualities in a CJ.
