torrent

Please don't say that word because EA doesn't like it. And, there's no such thing as a torrent on anything SC4 mods. You have download it one by one. As an Indonesian, I really sympathize with that. It's hard to download anything with slow connection. But there's a workaround: use mobile data.

Torrents are pretty much a no-go for anything SC4-related, and especially for files that periodically undergo revision (which BSC Common Dependencies has), since the seeding process pretty much eliminates any prospect of version control.  There was an accord between the owner of Simtropolis and Will Wright himself about not allowing SC4 plugins to be distributed via torrent, due to the negative associations with the technology (i.e., piracy), and SC4E and all the other sites have abided by this.

As far as why MalwareBytes is flagging it, I'm investigating.

    -Tarkus

Edit: Just did a scan of the file myself with MalwareBytes, which found no issues.

Wow didn't know that about Trnts here. Sorry for mentioning the T word..

Not sure what's going on with MB. Only was downloading the mentioned file and it decided to cancel the download on me at 600mb in.. and say there was a trojan..

On a fresh windows install too. Odd.

Will try again with mobile data..

very frustrated.. is there a torrent for BSC Common Dependencies Pack? I currently have a very slow connection. This file is gigantic and keeps failing midway through.

I tried using a download manager to download in pieces, but it says the website does not support download resuming because of the link target format.

Also, malwarebytes has corrupted my download once because it detects a trojan trying to connect to "103.224.182.251" inside the file....

    not sure whats going...:???:

Try Jdownloader2.  It works for me.  I am able to download files off of SC4E easily with that.

I'm currently investigating why this is occurring, sorry about the issues you're having downloading. I suspect it may be either CloudFlare or the server load balancer playing silly buggers here.

Try using IDM instead. I know, there's a pro version, but the free is very sufficient for the task.

Not forever. Many of the file have already been rehosted on SC4Evermore. But eventually all the files will be rehosted which used to be on SC4Devotion LEX.

    It's just matter of time.

AFAIK most if not all of what has been lost forever is either

    -Really old stuff.

-Any PLEX stuff that's not here.

-Technically WolfZE's stuff, though it still exists offline.

Actually we/I have mostly all the relevant PLEX stuff, that were available on Simpeg.com (probably some maps and some specific MMLs are still missing). I think I have like 99% of Paeng's stuff too (I'm saying 99% because I have zero idea what else he had besides what we have lists about). We managed to recover many of the kind of lost Far Eastern/Japanese contents too, though with the going ons I have zero idea when they will become publicly available.

    Hi everybody!

First of all a quick heads up for those who might be interested. The SC4D LEX Legacy - BSC Canals Collection v1 just went online. It can be downloaded from SC4Evermore.

It includes the contents of 41 previously separate downloads (including some contents that were only available on the SC4D LEX DVD and an unreleased upload from Callagrafx for his SG Remastered canal set) organized into 9 main sets:

    • SG BSC Brick Canals
    • SG Irrigation Canals 2004 - the old set
    • SG Irrigation Ditches 2009 - the new set
    • SG Urban Canals
    • CAL Remastered SG Canals
    • CAL Stone Canals
    • Newman Inc River and Pond Kit (RPK)
    • Newman Inc Agricultural Suburban Canals (ASC)
    • Zero7 Sunken Canals (addon for CAL Remastered SG Canals)

It looks like either there has been some kind of texture ID conflict with the latest update (v4?) to the BSC Texture Pack, or the BSC Team has launched a new environmentally-friendly initiative replacing parking lots with grass fields....

I've noticed it on a number of jestarr's lots in particular; the two shown here are Gibson Marble Manufacturing and Apex Apartments, but there are definitely others.

There is a texture ID conflict but it doesn't come from the BSC Textures Vol03 v4. Those lots are using different textures from ranges of FB864030-34, FB864035-39 (Gibson), FB864040-44 and FB864045-49 (Apex). The Gibson ones are plain concrete, while the Apex has concrete+parking mash up on ONE base texture, yet all of these get overriden by something else. If you have DataNode, please scan these lots and check what texture packs are listed as loaded dependencies for either of these lots. Something overriding the BSC Textures Vol03 v4 in your plugins.

DataNode showed no other texture packs other than JES Resource v27 for Gibson Marble (with instance IDs FB761001-4) and missing textures for Apex Apartments (with instance IDs 251C2000-4). I removed Resource v27 and the textures on both lots seem to be back to normal. No idea why they would conflict, given these are different ranges.

The ID conflict is coming from this pack, but it's a bit more complicated. There is a texture in this pack that has an ID: 0xFB860000-04, this is a 0/no-wealth wealth texture ID, while the originally used textures are out of the wealth ranges (FB864030-34, FB864035-39 (Gibson), FB864040-44 and FB864045-49 (Apex)). I ran into similar thing last year with the BSC Texture Vol01 and some of Glenni's Norwegian Houses that we were working on. I can't quote the exact technical details, but the wealth texture comes first and override the non-wealth textures. Maybe @rsc204 can share more details on the "how"s and "why"s.

The solution will be probably a re-ID on the wealth texture, and an update on the dependency pack and we need to find the lot that was using it originally. I think the Small Industrial Lots Vol03 are using it mainly, but I need to check out @jestarr's uploads from the past one year.

In the CFI thread it was brought to my attention that I made some mistakes, when I assembled the BSC MEGA Props DAE Vol02 for the SC4D LEX Legacy - BSC Common Dependencies v7 (and above) packs. The Master Cleanitol (and the specific single cleanitol for that prop pack) removed essential files that contained building exemplars for lots, which had broken those lots. As I explained in this post, the development of these dependency packs happend over years, because they were meant to be made for a different project.

Anyhow as I promised a solotion has been made, though RL/Work was not kind to me this week, so it took a while, but today I managed to update some of the Deadwood's contents in question.

First of all, the former DEDWD Small Shop Prop Pack has been rebranded to BSC MEGA Props DEDWD vol02 (bear in mind that this is the same as the BSC MEGA Props - DAE Vol02.dat) and merged with other commercial model and prop sets from Deadwood's Aussie commercial sets. The newly compiled mega prop pack is the same that you can find in the SC4D LEX Legacy - BSC Common Dependencies v8 (and above; current version is v9a).

Contents of this new mega prop pack (the detailed file list can be found in the Cleanitol_BSC MEGA Props - DEDWD vol02.txt):

    • Aussie Retail Series Props
    • Aussie Tyre Shop Props and models
    • Art Deco Hotel models and props
    • Shell, Esso, Caltec Servo models and props
    • Karate Dojo models and props
    • Small Shops series models and props (including flat roofs)

The mega prop pack DOES NOT contain any building exemplars; any building exemplars that used to be in the original "building.dat" files have been removed, they will be updated and stored with the updated versions of the related LOT sets. However since that process might take some time, the extracted building exemplars can be found for now (as temporary solution) in the

    • DEDWD LEGACY Commercial Growable Building Exemplars.zip

by clicking onto the DOWNLOAD button.

A temporary and also consolidated version of the custom queries can be found in the

    • DEDWD_Commercial_commonfiles.zip

by clicking onto the DOWNLOAD button.

The growable exemplars will be added to the related lot files when the LEX restoration efforts reach that point and the related files on STEX will be updated too. The Commercial Common files will be added a future version of the BSC Essentials.

Then, the Small Shops series (1x1, 1x2 and flat roof versions) have been properly updated. The building exemplars are with the lot files, the models and props are in the above linked dependency pack. All lots have been fixed from issues and have been updated with SC4PIM-X (X-Tool).

BSC DEDWD Small Shops 1x1 v103

BSC DEDWD Small Shops 1x2 v103

BSC DEDWD Small Shops Flat Roof Versions v103

Then, the ElRail and MonoRail shops have been updated too.

    BSC DEDWD ElRail Shops v103

    BSC DEDWD Monorail Shops v103

The changes that I made when I first compiled the above linked mega prop pack, has effect on the above listed contents (Aussie Retail Shops, Tyre Shops, Servos, Hotels, Dojos), but they will be properly updated later when we catch up with the LEX Restoration stuff. For now if you use the cleanitols of the BSC Common Dependencies and want to use these lots, then install the contents of the DEDWD LEGACY Commercial Growable Building Exemplars.zip and DEDWD_Commercial_commonfiles.zip.

Translation: When I visited the SimCity 4 forum, I noticed that the city authors in these pictures used RDQ's separate small buildings, and I was very puzzled that they could use these beautiful buildings alone. When I learned that they were previously on LEX, I wanted to have them resurrected on Evermore or STEX.

Put simply, if you use IDs that correspond to wealthing groups, the game does not necessarily show the intended texture, instead it will show the texture that corresponds to the wealth of the actual lot. As such modders should only use these IDs where it is intended to have such a wealth group. It seems not everyone got the memo however.

Head over to my Lot and Mod Shack to keep abreast of my latest developments.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

New to the NAM? Check out my tutorials on YouTube. Latest upload: How to: RHW - MHO Roundabout Interchanges. (Nov 25).

Thanks for the reminder. I completely forgot about the growables, that Mattb325 made for RDQ's prop pack. I'll try to make them available soon. They will be added to the Compilation that is already on SC4Evermore as the HD prop pack will be the main dependency for them.

Put simply, if you use IDs that correspond to wealthing groups, the game does not necessarily show the intended texture, instead it will show the texture that corresponds to the wealth of the actual lot. As such modders should only use these IDs where it is intended to have such a wealth group.

Whatever ID you use just don't use the 0-1-2-3 ON the fifth digit in the ID. From 4-F anything can b used though.

I knew about the wealth ID thing, however, I failed to change the auto-assigned SC4Tool ID. I've fixed the problem, hopefully. I'll upload the fixed files in a bit.
