I believe the third bridge fits better in the picture. The red gives a nice contrast to an otherwise very grey and green picture. Plus the railway texture is the same.

Nice pictures btw!

One of the things that bothers me about SC4 is the really exaggerated vertical dimensions, so I really like how close you've gotten the water level, ground level, and bridge level.

The first bridge has a Meiji era vibe to it, but the way that its LOD is clipping isn't very good.

The last one doesn't have that problem, and the rail texture is consistent, and also, the vertical piers being visible makes it easier to understand spatially.

I would also say #3. I like the color in #1 but the lack of pillars, as in #3, or an overtruss structure, as in #2, bothers me a little. Maybe it's just that I've been playing too much Bridge Constructor, though.

Good day guys, hope everything is fine *:thumb:

Today I have another update where your help / opinion / feedback is going to be requested. I think is not necessary to say that bridge number 3 has been chosen and placed, as you have decided and during the next days you will see it in the upcoming updates. Thank you so much for taking the time to write your comments, I really appreciate it.

    52964777009_86b9798bb3_o.jpg

Above you can see a picture of the real area that I am currently working on, as mentioned this is not a recreation, but I am using real locations as inspiration and I'm trying to built airports and ports in the same areas  to keep my region as realistic as possible. Taking this into account, I am creating a network of highways and national roads to connect the airport with the rest of the region. (80% of this layout has been created from scracht and it has nothing to do with the real life layout), please see the picture below for a clearer view:

    52965013480_a14e2b0b43_o.jpg

As you can see [E2] is the main node and the main Highway in this part of the Prefecture. It connects the south of the region with the center of Hiroshima, comes from Yamaguchi. The [E2] Highway has been built before the International airport, but when the airport was built, it was necessary to add a new ring connecting the terminals [T1] & [T2] with the main [E2] Highway, therefore, at that time the [E2 Airport ring] was constructed. It was necessary to built a tunnel under the river to connect the new ring with Minami and the Nadamachi Industrial area. This highway arm was created, reaching more inhabitants and areas of the region.

The problem: For those coming from the North of the Prefecture (Center areas) and who wants to come to the airport but go back to the city center, it was necessary to leave the highway and take a national road from Minami to Iwakuni, where is possible to enter highway [E2] Northbound again.

Project - E2 Iwakuni / Nadamachi ring: In order to solve this situation and to "close" the highway ring, this project has been raised (Red line in the map). As additional information, it is important to say that this was not done at first due to the limited land available. To make this ring it will be necessary to demolish homes and some factories.

My question: Looking at the map above, what do you think? would you change anything? do you think it is a good plan? do you want to add anything?

    # Important note: It's not possible to see it on the map, but it's important to clarify that in this area, In addition to the highways and national roads (painted in blue), there are multiple railway lines and even the Shinkansen line runs through this part of the region.

I hope you like this update, I will be waiting for your nice comments again.

    Thank you so much !!

I think the main question for such a ring is: do you actually need it? Is the airport ring at full capacity as it stands? Do you find a lot of transportation demand from the airport to the areas that would be served by closing the ring?

If the answer to any of these questions is "no", then it's a no vote from me. If it's "yes", then you still have one more question to ask yourself: do you actually need to close the ring right through downtown? I don't know what are your city limits like, but there's probably an easier, more scenic connection through the hill to the northeast of Nadamachi, or even following the river valley to the east, parts of which the E2 airport ring seems to be following already, right? The map is slightly confusing, so I might be wrong on that last part. But still, all in all, I'm leaning towards "no".

Perhaps another way of looking at it could be inferred from the actual condition of the real-world Iwakuni, where the Expressway 188 and the Sanyo Line skirting the airport largely follow the coast as the north-south coastal connection is an important route.  I can imagine that the coastal routes would have been historically the most important land routes connecting the various coastal port towns of the region, with the later parallel expressways and shinkansen tunneling through the more inland mountains being later developments.

    Wk3whwh.jpg

What is being proposed is a closing of a ring, but in the real Iwakuni, that which would be the functional equivalent of the proposed route is labelled as a bypass that primarily augments and relieves the direct north-south connection on the 188 while also happening to create a ring that is longitudinally stretched north-to-south.  Those going north or south then choose either the eastern route passing nearer the airport or the bypass that bows westwards and brings them through the central city.  We might in the proposed plan try to re-emphasize the most direct north-south coastal route from Hiroshima to Minami and Fujuumachi and then all the way to the southern border of the region, with the route through the airport being a bypass that bows westward.  This way, all the regional traffic and trucks travelling between Hiroshima and whatever is south beyond Fujuumachi need not all travel between the two terminals of the airport.

    Hello guys,

I am working on moving this forward. I have shared several pictures on discord but soon I will share all those pictures here as well.

In relation to the airport Highway update which was discussed above, I will start the area from Scratch and i will build the zone following the comments and advice of our friend @Odainsaker in his honor.

At the same time I am working to create a new FT in which I will post full updates in the future.

I hope to be able to come back soon and share with you the photos of all the progress I have been able to make in the last months.

    Stay tuned 😁

    ;)

Can you tell me how to get to the station and the road under the railway and the zebra crossing? Thank you

    Hi Mates,

Many thanks for the commends and the likes, I really appreciate it.

@Bolshevik Below you can find the links for the train station platforms:

For the Zebra, you need to scroll down a bit here:

    https://simcityedit.com/simedit/lev-bbs.cgi?bid=SC4=&skin=skin/config/=/simedit/skin/config/&style=0

You will find the Zebra lot within this pack:

Regarding the train station main building, sadly that's not available publicly as it is a model created by an old friend who wanted to keep this and other models private for our Japanese regions.

Love Japan, got family there and been there many times. Seen Hiroshima twice, so really looking forward to see the city unfold here. You are doing a stunning job so far. Can see myself in the Shinkansen, from Osaka to Fukuoka, on your screenshot.
