Help please,

I have a prop(not texture) that's invisible(all zoom levels) when a shadow is over it, it's the yellow lines. What can I do to make it visible again?634de8e390104_IDKwtf(2471).jpg.3c09f561480dbf89aa3440af1dbfb5e1.jpg

Still can see a little in the bottom middle.

Thanks for your time!

Looks like a z-fighting issue, caused when the shadow is overlaid at the same height as the prop. Try moving the props up about .2m in the lot editor, that should make them appear above the shadow at least.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

As a follow up, you were correct about the z-fighting. But in my case the prop wasn't partially visible until 0.4m and fully appeared at 0.5m. It shifts slightly when changing view angles but it works. Thank you for helping. *:thumb:

.2 is pretty much.a baseliine/minimum. For example i make all my S3D props sit at this height by default. Indeed depending on the specific situation, you may need to go higher for consistent results. Anything that refreshes the view may alter how things appear. That’s always an issue because each time things are rendered the game has no method of choosing which item should be on top or the general order. For example it knows to always put an overlay texture on top of a base texture. But if you stack multiple overlays it can’t handle that. This can actually be seen on the large Maxis Plaza and a few other Maxis lots.

However if you start going too high, it’s possible that things appear shifted on the X or Y axis, because that is the logical effect of something being higher. Doesn’t appear to be an issue here, but for example using a S3D with rail textures on top of actual rail textures, above .2m the rails no longer line up right. You can see this on some of the FLUP ramps, they don’t appear the same in every zoom/rotation. All of this is basically game limitations and there isn’t a whole lot you can do about it.
