It is meant to be a place where it's easy to reply and quick to receive answers, instead of opening a new topic each time. For example, to ask about keyboard shortcuts, how to use a cheat command, or game versions like between a patched and unpatched game. Maybe even a post someone made for a gameplay tip.

Used to be you could run Task Manager, right click the game, Select Affinity, and it would show its current usage and also allow you to restrict it to one CPU core there. (Tho you do want to set it during game startup.)

How did you do it? With SC4 CPU Options DLL? That will limit the game to one CPU to prevent crashing. Command line options are depreciated.

I've used this method (I'm on Win10)....

But as mentioned, it is temporary. For more permenant methods, set up Command Line prarmeters or just use the DLL as @Kel9509 mentioned. 

@DreamMachineMan, once either way is used, you can use the above method to view how the game is running. For example, mine shows this since that is what I have the DLL set at...

I really should remove that page entirely,  because that is out of date too ... more and more buildings are making their way into the main catalog. There's just shy of 10k buildings there now, if my numbers are correct. I think the only thing that's missing from the old feature is the ability to search by a hex or dec number. Just hex is supported now.

I checked that one processor is working. but the game keeps crashing. is it possible to beat the fact that there are a lot of lots in the plugins folder??? are they separate from folders? is it something else?

In sc4pac, there are multitudes of plane automata, and several fighter jet, attack helicopter, and, and fire truck automata. Can only one automata plugin (including one automata plugin of each type of plane) be installed in my plugins directory? I know that this is basic, but I'm coming back to SimCity 4 after a little while. Thank you in advance!

I have another question... With WestWind Streets SAM 01 by @hugues aroux, what I end up with looks exactly like what's in the screenshot on the STEX page, but I cannot get the on-street parking to show up. I have the dependencies installed. Please find attached an HTML tree view of my "z10_Scoty Mods" folder. Am I missing something? I'm using SAM2, SAM4, and SAM5 by Rivit and SAM7 by MGB. Also, I have Scoty's SFBT Street Tree Mod overrides located in "D:\SC4PAC5\Plugins\075-my-plugins\SFBT\Street Tree Mod\Street Mods." Thank you!

Edit: Silly me! I didn't have Scoty MP Essentials in my plugins... Now, the parking shows up!

It depends. For the planes, fighters, helicopters, emergency vehicles, etc., the answer is generally there can only be one at a time since they replace a Maxis model. Things like cars and trucks you see on roads could be either. As always check the readme - it should say if they are overrides or are "new instances".

Thanks! Well, I don't want to dig into Reader for too much, but it'd probably problematic to pile a beach extend mod and Diagonal Jagged Edges Mod on top of Gobias Sudden Valley, so I've changed some values for Sudden Valley from sc4pac using Reader. Following this guide, I changed MaxNormalYForCliff to .77 to match Diagonal Jagged Edges Mod. I also changed MaxBeachWidth to 5 and MaxBeachAltitude to 3. 

I took a quick look at Gizmo's Water Flora in Reader and I promptly removed it from my plugins folder. I know that it's a very old mod, but it modifies a lot that I don't want it to modify. Now, following the guide, I placed Sorchin's Water Flora in 075-my-plugins, but I found that the guide didn't do a very good job of explaining what WaterMinAlpha and WaterDepthForMaxAlpha do. I'd like my water to be more transparent, so should I set both values to lower values? I'm using Gobias's Bodensee HD water, by the way.

Thanks! I just skipped to the recommended settings! So, it seems to me that if I want more transparent water, then I should set a lower value for WaterMinAlpha and a higher value for WaterDepthForMaxAlpha. I'll try 32 or 50 for for WaterMinAlpha (but probably 32) and 32 for WaterDepthForMaxAlpha.

It's been a few years ago, but just prior to when CB and I created my Side Water Shoppe, I played around with several settings and created a look I really, really liked including a faint aura along the shore lines. (Sorry, no, I don't now recall what I did, but my point is: Do experiment with the settings until you find what pleases your eyes the best.) *:)

@CorinaMarie Thank you so much! I remember the Side Water Shoppe thread. I might experiment a bit further, but for now, 32 for both WaterMinAlpha and WaterDepthForMaxAlpha looks great to me. I like the Gobias HD Bodensee water. It's not TOO bright like Gobias's Caribbean water. (Note to self: Look up where in the world "Bodensee" is!)

I was going to ask if the @CasperVg's CAS_AutoHistorical_v0.0.2 DLL and it's corresponding .dat that were on SC4Devotion still had any use with the AutoSave DLL mod, but I see that it has some functionality outside of its autosave functionality. Also, I did a search on the "new" SC4Devotion and I found the files.

So much is available through sc4pac. More and more downloads are being updated to "modern standards" through Project ZIP. So many of the downloads on SC4Evermore have Cleanitols included. The community is a giant of governing gifts. Stand tall, Simtropolis. Stand tall.

Can someone tell me how to systematize the items that are in the submenu because everything is scattered and mixed up for me, parks with playgrounds, and golf clubs with hospitals in one menu. How can I fix this?

The sc4 cli tool by @smf_16 has a function to move items withing submenus. It uses a command line interface. see https://github.com/sebamarynissen/sc4#usage

Someone mentioned a few weeks ago in the programming channel of the SC4E Discord that they were working on a GUI submenu editor and posted a few screen shots, but I don't think it has been released yet

Some of my default maxis park pieces have skewed monthly costs. For example:

Small flower garden, open grass area, playground: $63

Ranger Station: $85

Medium playground, skate park: $78

Basketball court: $81

Tennis: $80

Softball: $159

Soccer $213

Beach: $239

Any idea what could have changed the monthly cost of these items? I do have a bunch of plugins in my plugins folder, this has been going on for many months.   Thank you!

One option would be using SC4DataNode to find which files are overriding those properties. The other option which is more manual but with less of a learning curve is the binary search method, which basically entails removing half of your plugins to see if the issue disappears, and then repeating until you find the exact file.

Ok, I did install SC4DataNode and scanned my directory and my plugins. Any suggestion on how to decipher the override?

I did click on overrides and if I find entry building, name PZ1x1_Grass_4ab05a13 it shows that it has a monthly cost of $10 and  it is overridden by CAM - CAM core - 2 CAM building - CAM_Maxis_Building_Blocker.dat

But it appears as if that override is the next line in sc4. And it shows that the monthly cost is only $5. But in game it is $63.

Am I reading this correctly?

My guess is this is your culprit. Are you using a CAM version larger than 2.1? I am pretty sure the newer ones have tweaked all of these properties. @Ulisse Wolf can confirm I hope.

You're using SIM (formerly CAM Core), which disables the original Maxis batches (which is a good thing, since they're very problematic) and replaces them with PIM-Xd versions. So all the calculations are based on BSC algorithms.

I just opened sc4pac to verify what I have (and it wants me to update 22 plugins - I'll wait for a reply). I have CAM: 3.0.0 w/ pending update to 3.1.1 AND CAM: core 3.5.1. Should both of those be installed? It also wants me to install SIM 4.0.1.

You'll need to update the mods if you want the latest version of CAM

Hey Wolf, i recently used sc4pac to obtain all of the latest plugins, the latest NAM, after a fresh Windows 11-reinstall. I then did the 4GB patch and installed the mods from your "necessary mods" post including voodoo2. Not only does it take 5-7 business days LOL to reach the EA sports load screen, it still crashes at city load screen.  If i'm following all of your recommendations and using NAM lite as recommended with the 4GB patch, i shouldn't be crashing still. All plugins have been installed and the maintenance and repair capability in sc4pac has indicated no issues with the plugins installed. What else is there to do?

Hey so are we expected to shorten every file name that the program deems is too long? That's alot of extra work again to achieve a simple process that the program is to provide....any other ideas?

That is a SC4DataNode bug. IIRC rivit released an update to fix it, but that version was lost when ST went down along with all the file comments related to the patching process.
