So I've always wanted to build a city in the region I live in (North metro of Minneapolis-St paul) because there are some incredibly beautiful places like Forest lake, and the Lindstrom area does anyone know if I have to pay to have a region request fulfilled or is it just kind people doing it for free?

With paying for commissioned content, this isn't something we publicly endorse since new community works we feel are best created and shared free of charge. There is an "official" mapping requests thread here, but with so few mappers around, I'd not have overly have high hopes of requests being taken on board. One possible way might be to directly ask currently active mappers who publish works to the STEX recently, although it depends on each individual to what extent they're motivated by to accept such projects. There is also a chance that some people might notice your post here and decide to get in touch with you about creating those areas you're familiar with.

Also you may wish to ask inside the CFI thread in case anyone may have already created maps from your area.

Much as it chagrins me to favor a Vikes fan(you guys stole Brett Favre and we want him back *:D), if you give me specific boundaries, I can whip you up a map. It sounds like you just want areas of the cities, but if you want the whole thing, tell me. I can give you just the terrain or lay out most of the streets for you. The older maps are fine, but many tend to be massive with too much use of large tiles. Mine are more compact, and much easier for city layouts. PM me if you're interested, or post a response.

    We still haven't won a Superbowl so Brett was the most exciting thing we had lol. The boundaries are like Forest lake, Chisago City and that general area, and terrain is fine its okay if you don't add every body of water (We have a lot lmao) just like the major ones is perfect. If you want to do the northern part of the metro and just add those parts thats okay, but if you don't feel like doing that you can also just do those I don't wanna be too much. Thank you so much for this, since I moved here I always have thought it'd be cool to recreate my city. I really appreciate this

    Hey, Fran Tarkenton got you to "The Show" 4 times. Better than nothing.

    Well, you had me looking all over the place for those 2 streets, until I found out they were 2 areas north of Minn.-St. P.  I assume these are them unless you say different.

    Chisago really fooled me. I thought that was a typo. Forgot about those crazy Indian names up north.

    I'll square both of them up into 1 map. I'll keep the water shallow so you can color it different if you want. Looks like you've got some falls going on, too. Street layouts look pretty easy. Give me a week, but check this thread every day, because it might come sooner. I'll give you further instructions when its done. Adios!

    A little progress update- I've established the perimeters of the map (I guess that's a county so I cut it in half and ended it at the river between Minnesota and Wisconsin) and placed all the water(they don't call it "Land of Lakes" for nothing). Today, I'll put in the high ground and start laying out roads. I'm posting some user tips in this thread-

    I don't know your skill level, so just in case you need visual advice, it'll be there for you and everyone.  Arriverderci!

    Almost done! It should be ready for you tomorrow. I'm just putting the finishing touches on it. I'm going to make you 3 versions, 1 primarily with large tiles, a medium version and a random version. I don't know what your preferences are, but me, personally, I hate large tiles. They drag, especially if you use a lot of MMP's. Also, I added another tip in that thread, that you might want to check out. Till tomorrow, Auf Wiedersehn!

    Yeah, large tiles are really overused in map making. It's great that it's almost done, I never expected it to be so fast but im glad you're putting in the effort with this. I'll check out the tips and I'm looking forward to tomorrow thanks man.

    A good brand of coffee helps. Your dinner is served-

    Leave a review and rating and let me know what you think. I've got a thick skin, so don't worry about hurting my feelings. I have none. Nobody else rates mappers, which probably explains why they don't come around here, or take requests like CB said above.  But I've got a few ideas to change that... *:idea:

    @SIM-ple Jack

    It's very kind of you to create the map specially to serve the request that @lssam2 made. You are one of "the few" SC4 mappers who still regularly create and share works in the mapping form, and this is very much appreciated by people. *:)
