I enjoyed this style of taking a tour of a city in sections, its entertaining.  Thank-you.

Thanks, I'm doing it like this because I just have so much to show and it also gives you a feel of where everything is, which can be quite difficult sometimes. Glad you like it :)

Absolutely marvelous European stuff, Charles.  Reminds me a lot of Salzburg, Austria.  I had no idea you could create W2W content out of ordinary buildings- learn something every day.  Followed and watching for more!

Thank you! Glad you're back, I've been following your journal!

Now we are looking at South Old Rodenburgh. We looked at North Old Rodenburgh in the last entry. The two districts are the oldest parts of town and were contained within a wall centuries ago that has now been long torn down. Even though it's old there are a few more modern buildings that have managed to get constructed here somehow.

This is gonna be a relatively small entry, but there are still some exiting things to show!

A closer look at the area:

    0F1BA3CA0EF18703E023201DE964D4C653AB7638

This is the first half of the district. Here you can see the church on the right and you can just see some plazas on the left.

This is the church. It's currently being renovated, like old buildings always have to be. You can also see some construction workers on the roof. I try to add as much life as I can; I don't like seeing barren and lifeless parts of the city (unless that's the actual purpose of the area).

You have probably realised I have many walkways and plazas around the city. It makes people happier (if it were a real place) and traffic would also be decreased. (Remember, IRL, traffic decreases when driving is less desirable and harder, not when roads are wider).

Here's the second half. You can see there are a few modern buildings mixed in.

    zjIQnnP.jpg

This is one of the most controversial buildings in the city, owned by a large insurance company.. It's huge and modern, completely out of place and I like to think that protests have happened in Rodenburgh against this building.

Anyways, here we have another modern building on the right. This one was built to replace an older building that burned down. Many people are also unhappy with it, as it also looks too out of place.

That's the second Starbucks in this entry! (See if you can find the other one) Man, they really are everywhere!

Anyway, that's it for now. Quite a lot of pictures for a pretty small part of the city, but I wanted to show everything. Hope you guys enjoyed it! I'll leave you with this:

Hello everyone. Today we are looking at a section of an area called Myreport.

EDIT- For anyone that is is seeing this now, the area has had a complete overhaul, this update is here just for "historical" purposes.

    wVWcyh1.jpg

    IkfXX6o.jpg

Here you can see the church and graveyard slightly middle-right. Slightly to the left is a auditorium and art gallery. Further left is a bit of the train station. On the bottom left is the courthouse.

We are starting from the right side of the picture moving to the left.

    D61D4791A13F58C12C4AC4B3255DF13A9F7198D4

    24837FA5F12C8994A099D85551D40610E3736F70

A pub with a nice seaside view. I will probably end up replacing that modern building with another old pub/restaurant.

    1ED5702376F837017D4A63890339D0F5A1ABEDFA

I make sure to at least have some detail on the quays, or else they're just large concrete blocks.

    C48E58D977CBECCE5E3BD06AA24923235343C792

    F4513EEBD4623E04F0AD92C00B96101D93307E60

I will put another asset for the church since this one has already been used.

    7ED2CF6D1F703A954DB0C5D973FEF174F04AA541

    84213229B78A8C24FC67D460E933E53C560C5909

Here is the auditorium and art gallery. It used to be part of a university along with other buildings that consisted of the museum (which was shown in the first entry). The university moved out of thew city more than a century ago to make way for better entertainment amenities in the city.

    1E4E65E19257432C8BD56561CCD7F5FE79A3F656

This is the back of the building. You can see some people lining up for popcorn.

    68D140DE14ADF9355F40702556B1886704C36581

On the bottom of the picture is the courthouse. Also used to be part of the university. You can see a bit of the plaza shown last entry on the right, for context.

    E7530F47F641C775EC9DE4D6C5EA5E021DD751E3

Just an area to the left of the courthouse I think is cool.

    C41CE321C7955CBC76EFA8D175D189A6C91EE3A8

    A closer look.

    C9538A5D78D8BB18E8D3F68904FCBB564AE6E334

Here is something I'm pretty proud of. This place has a lot of traffic coming through it as there aren't any road bridges over the railway which creates a bottleneck for people wanting to head from Myreport to the CBD. This is the result of hours of work. It looks inefficient and unnecessary, but it works with a timed traffic light sequence created with Traffic Manager.

    64F883A938834A9A47F94F75402170C760CC03E8

I should probably put a tree in the island there or some modern art to spruce it up. I tried to make the area pedestrian friendly by placing fences on the sidewalk for protection.

    199EC99FBD4EAD2B8130B2D024872FCE0FA3648D

On the right is the parking for the station and a modern shopping mall.

    8B5A8C59ED0E1D71EFDFE1B0EEC6C4A91CD7B766

Another restaurant area behind the intersection. It used to be a street, but that just made traffic worse. This place at least compensates to the very car-friendly intersection nearby.

    E08BA91D8E9DFE9A70817FCC0B7678A13C8D226F

Here is the second half for this area.

    grugTXg.jpg

On the top right of the highlighted area is the marina and library.  A skate park and car park in the top middle as well as the station on the left with a pedestrian bridge going over the tracks.

    EB725910C5D2138F944EF28B9F1C94FC1F9F505B

This place used to be the port hundreds of years ago, but growth and modernisation moved it farther away.

    D14808C90CC780B6D02B4ECFA65ECE22A230A9F8

Here is the library built to replace a large factory that used to be here.

    3CC7606F4EDA45A5F336DA14AD19E6DEC729A250

    18BED5CC3B5621A8D5614859E53698ED98F84847

    1B0D5413AF4A99D5C497CAD5BBC556C78ED2ECDB

    124BA480DCF1FD710C4053191436CF8F8EB8E8B3

    9B34B6BC2BEE9670D488FAD14DDA39CA47970D32

    1EB55B1E454E2DFAAB21CBD8546291F0F78A45C6

This is the bridge that takes people across tot he CBD. It helps decrease the amount of traffic significantly, as it's the only way to get across the tracks for a long way.

And that's it. Hope you all enjoyed this entry, and I'll be back soon with more! (Sorry I don't have a cool screenshot to finish this time!)

Hey guys I just want to say that I won't be able to post another update for this week and the next to weeks after. I will post one as soon as I can though!

Also, I'm thinking of just having smaller updates. I have a feeling that I'm posting too much in one update, and breaking it up will probably be better. Let me know if anyone wants something different.

Hi Charles.  I'm of two minds about long updates.  On one hand they satisfy the "more, more, more" feeling you get when you are seeing something you really like.  On the other, I think there is a risk that, with so many stunning images you run the risk of watering down the big impact the two or three very best would otherwise make.  I can't imagine how many hours it takes you to create the amazing and unique cityscapes we see in Rodenburgh in any event.  Bottom line, you are going to please your audience whatever you do.  So I don't think you can make a "wrong" choice.

I think I'll end up doing shorter updates. The long updates can get a bit boring sometimes and, as you said, would "water down" the impact of the screenshots. I just feel like I have so much to show, but I understand that no one really wants to see every little thing in the city, just the good stuff.

I can just post small updates more often. They're easier for me to do too.

And wow, thank you for the compliments!

I also have some massive plans when I get back into the game that would really change the city. To be honest, I feel like I can still make it better. I hope everyone will like it!

Hey guys! I know it's been a while since the last update, but the city is currently having a bit of a makeover.

Here's what I've got so far:

I'm moving the port closer to the city and changing a lot of the buildings.

    4zFYC6V.jpg

I've decided to move the land farther out into sea in the city centre because of a lack of space. It makes sense since Rodenburgh is an old city that has a lot of modern influence and growth.

    R6GRaJ7.jpg

Outside of the old core there are normally small buildings like this:

    24837FA5F12C8994A099D85551D40610E3736F70

After using Google Earth to looks at many cities, I've decided to change them and use taller buildings. I don't want to spoil too much though...

    iVXHKU3.jpg

Since it's moving, here's the port. I'm not completely redoing it, I'll just reorganise the buildings and props. Pretty much everything will be there (with the exception of some buildings... maybe). It's just too far from the city and doesn't have good road access to it.

    5cDgIjG.jpg

And here's the last picture. The old and the new in one.

    Oops.

Your changes are really seamless, Charles.  But they must be working, because if anything I like Rodenburgh even more than before.  The third "rocky coast" screenie is really nice.

    Thank you!

That part of the city is changed now, sorry! I used an older screenshot there just to show that I wanted to change the types of buildings in that shot. I am going to make many rocky coasts around the map like this one though!

If the new coastlines are like what you've shown us, Charles, you are setting a pretty high standard.  I've played around with the same rocks quite a bit and haven't been able to get them to look near that good/

Hey guys, as promised, here is Rodenburgh with its (almost) complete port:

    E149FBC9E2A8D1EFEBED363D47324670231FDB28

(You might notice a change in the CBD. I replaced the tallest building with something smaller and I think this fits the city more. Don't get me wrong, I loved the previous building, but it was too tall, and was too prominent in the skyline.)

Today I'll just be giving an overview of the port. More detailed images will come soon.

    2FC79511701CC5195152D4F83048BC1A2BFB0D53

    5F9F39A1BA288F245CDBE1E3EAAD929CE3FD3F92

I might even expand this area bit farther out into the water in the future. For some reason, the city has a huge demand for jobs...

    6E25148A950DEAED28F350E12CA862735CF9B6D6

This is the Miyagi Motors factory. Miyagi Motors is a company that makes good high quality and kinda expensive cars, and they have an office based in Rodenburgh too.

    0B7BEFFF3A73DB46ECD861AF5312D9E759E2D581

This is the dry dock with the Colossal Mills Cereal factory on the left.

Here is where ships are loaded and offloaded with cargo. On the right is the tanker ships that import oil and gas into Rodenburgh. The containers and other cargo is loaded in on the left of the picture. The port is functional too, because I used Strictoaster's concrete dock assets.

Here is also the bulk loading and offloading area.

I'll post more detailed shots soon, for now this was an overview of the port.

Back at Rodenburgh!, today, and the next couple of updates, I'll just show some more detailed shots of the port.

Here we are again in the Miyagi Motors factory:

These are some of their finished vehicles ready for export. Miyagi Motors makes everything from simple cars, to vans and trucks.

I don't know what a party rentals truck is doing here. Maybe the workers are having a bit of party...

Here cars and materials to make them are put into containers and loaded/offloaded on to trucks and trains.

This is the dry dock. Here, it appears that a ship is being repainted.

Here is where a lot of fuel comes in for the city. I know this place should be bigger (maybe I'll expand the port), but I didn't have that much space.

Just a general overview of the area we covered.

And I guess, just a last shot of the city from this new district I'm working on.

And that's it. You might notice I'm trying to keep updates shorter than they used to be. I think long updates can be a bit too overwhelming and sometimes boring.
