@tariely - vortext's set of textures is completely compatible with SPAM, although there really is no overlap between the two.  If you are referring to the set of pasture field that he created, then those should also work fine with SPAM.  Like other farms, they will just add to the diversity of I-AG that pops up when zoned.

I personally am a huge fan of the textures, and I have been using them on pretty much all my lotting projects since they were released.

O...K. So I zone agri and they should pop up instead of SPAM fields ?

(and while I have you here, hijacking my own thread :-) : what about those flags in your neighbourhoods bustops ?)

No, they are no replacement for the current textures. You would need to create new agro fields with those textures, or to relot the currently existing ones to use them. I'm no sure how hard is that, but it doesn't sounds terrible. Maybe @Fantozzi, who is working on a beautiful new set of agro fields and lots, can give us a hand here.

Yes ? Yes ??? Waiting for Fantozzi, then, with baited breath (alas, I don't do relots. I'm just a gamer...)

In that case, you'll have to wait more, but for the better. On the meantime, you should check his dev thread:

Err ... not shure if I understood the problem. Field lots are 1x1 associated to the farm lot. When you open the building exemplar of the farm in READER there is an entry for the fields  and a comma separated list of  the IDs of the field lots associated with this farm.

So only fields will grow listed there. If there are fields not associated with a lot they won't show up in the game. So the fields you want to see in game you have to connect to a farm lot.

But the vortextures are only textures, not fields?

SPAM does a change on field lots. It adds a custom UI for fields - base game fields don't have their own UI - so clicking on the fields nothing happens, but clicking on a SPAM field a small UI will pop up telling you the name of the crop and some information.

Otherwise I don't think SPAM fields are much different from other fields. Me, I don't use SPAM so I'm not absolutely shure.

Surprisingly - at least for me - field lots turned out to be quite complicated to make them correctly. Without the help of @rsc204 I wouldn't got them to work. Basically you'll have to do everything he says here.

ID of building exemplar and lot exemplar has to be the same, grow stage must be FF.

Second thing is - as the fields are a constant repetition of 1x1 tiles very quick they create nasty repetition on the crops. So to get some variation and avoid strange looking patterns you'll have to create prop families.

So I can't recommend to start getting into modding with farm fields. And making them SPAM compatible would mean to create also an UI for them (which isn't necessary for them to work but, well, it's a SPAM feature).

I think the simpler question here is could you change the textures used on existing SPAM fields to utilise the better textures in Vortext's pack. To which the answer is yes, absolutely, it just requires making a copy of the textures and giving them the IDs from the original SPAM textures. Then you'd have an override that would update all the SPAM fields.

That shouldn't take a huge amount of effort, perhaps I'll take a look at it.

Do you like custom textures, but don't like all the work involved creating them?, take a look at the Texture Automation options here. Change the look and feel of your transit networks, with the minimum of effort, for example customised versions of my Sidewalk NAM (SWN) and Terrain Grass NAM (TGN) mods, and much more besides.

p.s. - I'm MGB over on SC4D and a member of the NAM team.

Oh yes, please ! As everybody seems to be up on relotting these days, with all that wonderful new stuff you modders are pulling out of your hats,  perhaps it would be a good thing to do it to Agri too -- for those of us who like to play historically, i.e. begin with and keep agri (which means using SPAM...) I revisited my Farming Folder recently and a lot of those good all farms are still very nice, they would just need a little sprucing up (I think JMyers, NewmanInc...)
